It might be interesting to have a tie-in story where Han returns to Corellia as an older man — and finds it has made a huge economic turnaround under the New Republic because crime is actually being fought instead of encouraged by the Empire and there isn't a huge military machine dragging off all the young people to go fight in places like Mimban, and the NR's focus on trade has made Corellia's shipbuilding and trading hubs very lucrative. It would offer a clear example of the NR's policies actually working to the benefit of a planet, and add nuance to the disarmament debate, rather than just "should we or should we not disarm in the face of Space Nazi aggression." Like, the leader of Corellia could be a personal friend of Organa's who's still uncomfortable with complete rearmament because the last time it happened, during the Clone Wars, Corellia's shipyards were appropriated by a military dictatorship, crime thrived in the face of weakened local authority, and all its young people were drafted or simply left in a diaspora. I feel like Corellia was wasted on just the intro and could have been a pretty good study on urban poverty, rather than the stereotypical City Noir that it was.

"For all those whose cares have been our concern, the work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives, and the dream shall never die."He looks really beaten up, so even if they're confused why he's alive, at least there's some visual indication that he didn't just crawl out of that pit and brush himself off.
"For all those whose cares have been our concern, the work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives, and the dream shall never die."Eventually, when you have a universe that is supported by multiple means of media (or, heck, even a lot of seperate but supposedly interconnected stories in general), that sort of thing becomes inevitable.
Marvel Studios and Star Wars have just barely managed to have lots of different kinds of stories across different media without the "biggest" releases having to reference the "smaller" ones. Marvel Studios seems rather dedicated to upholding that, but Disney Star Wars chose from the get go to very clearly have everything be canon and interconnected, and I'm glad to see them sticking to their guns on this.
Hopefully, this will encourage more fans to watch more of the franchise.

So, Corellia seems really different than how it's described in Aftermath — hard to believe it's the same as the place shown in Solo — unless it turned around majorly in fifteen years, or the place we see was a really bad part of Coronet City, like the Corellian version of the Bronx circa 1977 or something.
"For all those whose cares have been our concern, the work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives, and the dream shall never die."Yeah...it's one silly way of getting that kind of name.
BTW, did anyone feel a bit of WW 1 vibes in the opening war scene?
The only good fanboy, is a redeemed fanboy.Yeah, it's trench warfare, apparently because air support is difficult due to Mimban's atmosphere.
Which is weird because what cracked trench warfare open in WWI were tanks, not airplanes.
"For all those whose cares have been our concern, the work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives, and the dream shall never die."Just saw it. Don't know much about either canon (especially the new canon), but some notes.
- Han's Line-of-Sight Name origin pretty eliminates any chance of them re-canonizing stories where his relatives have the same surname.
- This film's Kessel Run doesn't involve the planet's iconic spice, but raw fuel. Very unstable stuff, hence the need for speed in delivering it. Before they landed on Kessel, I was confused whether they still had spice on Kessel, in part since I believe they call it a "Kessel Run" when meeting with Lando.
- is amused at the comments on that Twitter post*
"Now I'm just wondering if that's how every Star Wars character gets their last name"
"Rando: "That kid wants to fly so bad, it's like he's walking on the sky!"
Shmi: "...hold on a minute..."
I kinda figured if it wasn't his family name Han named himself. he seems like the kinda guy who'd want an Awesome McCoolname.

That personal attack towards Todd in the Shadows is uncalled for, especially because he ain't wrong. That scene was really dumb. Like, really dumb. Didn't help that when Han is going to the enlistment office, there's clearly the sound of the Imperial March playing on the speakers, which...I think this means that the Imperial March is canonically an actual thing that exists in the series?
Anyways, outside of that, I genuinely liked the movie. Some of the characters were forgettable and kinda flat but I liked the guy who played Han and I liked how the movie went. It genuinely felt unpredictable for parts of it and had some great action scenes. The Kessel Run in particular was a great scene. I thought the gal Han was after in the movie was kinda flat but she did have some interesting little bits that made me think she could be interesting on her own, separated from Solo. Oh and Donald Glover was good as Lando but he should've been in it a little more. He got the voice down pat. Maybe a little too down pat.
As for more complaints: like I said, some lackluster character deaths (and of course they kill a woman of color, of fucking course), the robot Lando's with has her activism played as a joke and it's kinda insulting, and of course Lando's pansexuality that was hyped up before is barely there. Actually no, it's not there at all. I noticed no flirting whatsoever. So yeah, shitty attempt at representation that wasn't actually them trying. Way to pull a Rowling.

Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?

Movie is coming out in a few days so I figured this would be the best time for it.
So yeah it's official: Darth Maul is in the movie. What the hell.
I don't care about Han Solo at all but Darth Maul is my favorite Star Wars character. Well played Disney, you got me interested.
