I should have been more specific. I was talking about the potential backlash from the Sonic fanbase that the Replacement Scrappy submission seemed to imply.

It would only be true in the sense that Archie dropped the license to make Sonic comics and then later revived one of its older properties. The only real connection between them that I know of is Ian Flynn, the head writer for Sonic, is writing this. Heck, Ian Flynn is still writing Sonic for IDW.
At a glance, this resembles Archie's Mega Man (also Ian Flynn) more than Sonic.

Tons of fun! I was sold on it the second I heard "Ian" and "Flynn" in that exact order! No plot twists, no deconstructing, just heroic good times in space!
I think my favorite of the team is Cosmo himself.

Opening up a thread for Cosmo the Merry Martian in relation to the 2018 revival.
On the YMMV sub-page, it says that this comic is a Replacement Scrappy "To Archie!Sonic meta-wise.", yet it doesn't give a proper explanation as to why.
