Talking Is a Free Action is not the main issue of Platinum End. Thats just hating on a trope because you don't like it.
Watch SymphogearTalking Is A Free Action seems like a huge issue of Platinum End in Episode 4. I dislike the trope but that doesn't disqualify what I said previously.
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).I mean Jojo runs on Talking Is a Free Action and is one of the seminal works of anime and manga.
I love Jojo and I know there are people who think its one of the largest, most overrated Cliche Storms ever written. Jojo's popularity doesn't necessarily validate TIAFA.
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).That’s certainly not my favorite part of Jojo.
Flippé de participer à ce grand souper, je veux juste m'occuper de taper mon propre tempo.I feel like it is necessary in Jojo's case because Stands are unique from person to person and have very odd properties to them, to the point that an explanation is often necessary to make sense of them.
It's been 3000 years…Sometimes it's even not enough. King Crimson was a meme until the show came out for a reason.
Still is one
King Crimson is difficult to display in still images, but animation cleared up how its supposed to work. The main problem is King Crimson sometimes gains New Powers as the Plot Demands, which makes what it can actually do inconsistent.
IIRC part of the meme conception was that early translation of the Explaining Your Power to the Enemy was just wrong on some details.

And that he chooses to explain how his power works using metaphors such as "the clouds won't know they've been parted" and "a candle won't know it's been snuffed out". It's poetic, sure, and it reads darkly beautifully with a good translation, but with a bad translation it just turns into gobbledygook.

I wouldn't be surprised if the initial fan translation was wrong about king crimson, that translation was bad enough to significantly color people's impressions of part 5 for the worse.
It also wasn't until his fight with Nero that "BTW, I'm intangible or some shit during the time skip" came up. And that isn't well explained in any version, I don't think.
Mega Man fanatic extraordinaireGeoff has his "Ones to Watch for Spring 2022" video up (and as always, a friendly reminder who doesn't include sequels in these on the grounds of if you've already watched the previous seasons you know if you're going to watch the sequel or not).
Uuh, right, there was that platform merger… Does that mean that Wakanim subscribers can also access Crunchyroll’s catalogue now? Or do I have to jump ship?
Also, My Boy Kongming looks gorgeous, holy crap.

The Roasting of The Shield Hero
Ahaha damn, that moment where he is done very tactfully covering one "elephant in the room" and then "remembers" there's a whole another fucking elephant to go
So I don't watch much isekai, but why couldn't the Shield dude buy the slave girls to free them and then they just pretend to be owned by him to avoid trouble? Why does he actually have to engage in the ownership aspect with the magic slave tattoos and the related junk Geoff brings up.
This is ridiculously easy to fix without having to resort to making the protagonist a human rights violator.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?Well, there are in-universe reasons for that, but it basically comes down to "because the writer wanted the hero to own slaves".

Initially, Raphtalia being a sickly girl getting thrown into fighting monsters, forcing her by the slave brand was the only way for him to progress.
The problem and I'm pretty sure Geoff is pointing it out as a problem though my viewing of the video was interrupted halfway through the segment, is that there is indeed no sensible reason for him to keep the brands after establishing proper relationship and connection with his party. The whole argument where he vocally defends slavery could have been turned entirely on its head if he had removed the brands and pointed the other hero's righteous crusade at the slave traders.
But author sticks by the idea for an ineffable reason, pushing it all the way up to reapplying the broken brand.
almost feels like he was too kind to the show. almost, he was avoiding trying to focus too much on the elephants in the room
Bumbleby is best ship. busy spending time on r/RWBY and r/anime. but then he's giving money to the slavers and their economy why not take down the slavers instead and be an actual hero
this music plays whenever I post also a boxThat bit could've been written around, even with Naofumi's action staying the same. He bought Raphtalia because he had no other options and as an already barely tolerated outcast he wasn't in the position to start societal reforms. However, he could've disavowed the business afterwards when confronted by the other heroes instead of defending it, and let them do the job of dismantling it. Would've been a perfectly fine resolution to the moral conundrum.
But the writer wanted to write a Nice Guy Slave Owner so that's what he did.
It is honesty impressive that followup isekais managed to make this plot idea even worse somehow.

Not going to lie, I'm up to Episode 4 of Platinum End and... I'm not finding as much fault with it as Mother's Basement did.
...and right as say that, the first fight scene has a lot of Talking Is a Free Action.
Holy cow.
