I do like some Boom-Boom(and especially some Spectrum), but I remember finding the relentless silliness and Comedic Sociopathy mostly alienating. Maybe it's to do with using established characters that I was already fond of in ways that make them unrecognizable. Yeah, yeah, Rule of Funny and all. Nothing I hate, but not my thing.

Here's the thing with Nextwave: it is an absolute parody of superhero comics and everything that entails. Like, this is what Warren Ellis wrote when asked how he conceived Nextwave
:
And that would be my contribution to the conversation. There’s a quote that’s stuck with me for, oh, 25 years, that I’ve used a few times to describe a certain kind of work, and it was probably never more fitting than used for NEXTWAVE. It was my motto for the job as I was writing it. Nik Cohn describing “Tutti Frutti” by Little Richard:
“A glorious burst of incoherent noise.”
I doubt I ever lived up to it, but that was the target.
i have no idea if i’ve answered the question NEXTWAVE IS LOVE send

Ooo, probably not for me, then.
I basically use the superhero genre as a substitute for what I'm actually into: modern-day fantasy/scifi hijinx. I like alien invasions. I like wizards in trenchcoats and jeans. I like vampires. I like demon lords who drive Maseratis and secret agents with M16s having shootouts with time-travelers shooting pew-pew laser guns. I like people who shoot heat rays out of their eyes. I like time-traveling cyborg dinosaurs or whatever.
Not actually a fan of capes and secret identities and "Oh no, I need to run out on my girlfriend and go fight a super-battle but she can't know!" drama. I tolerate it 'cause it's the cost of entry for this wild Fantasy Kitchen Sink that Marvel has crafted and there's so much less of it than there is over in DC. When I read the comics, I mentally replace the word "superhero" with "peacekeeper" and "supervillain" with "criminal" or "terrorist" or something. Because superheroes and supervillains aren't a thing and it hurts my brain to read the characters calling themselves that.
When you get down to it, I ravenously consume superhero media, but I don't actually like, like, superhero media stuff. If that makes sense.
The MCU's been amazing for me, on that note. So much of the awesome superhero universe stuff I love, so little of the traditional superhero archetypal tropes that I dislike.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.The book actively defies description. It is not about capes and secret identities; nobody uses a superhero name aside from the Captain and it's probably because he forgot his real name. They all fly around in a ship called the Shockwave Rider fighting against Unusual Weapons of Mass Destruction made the Beyond Corporation. The comic's motto is "Healing America by beating people up." And this was their cover when Civil War was coming out.

Sounds a little too lolrandom for me.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them....yeah, I have absolutely no idea what is happening in any of those pages.
Except the "robot brain needs beer and I want to die" bit. For what is clearly a response to something super gross happening to Machine Man, that's a pretty funny reaction.
I think later comics kept Nextwave's take on Aaron, because that seems pretty in-character for the guy, but I only know him from comics that came out after Nextwave. Civil War was my jumping-on point.

in that scene where Peter and Ned have their bro hug when all's said and done.

I think Nextwave is the only place I’ve ever seen Elsa happy, if briefly.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersThanos grabbed Cap's hand instead of Mjölnir because Thanos knew he wouldn't be worthy.
Ah. The Red Hulk corollary

Forever liveblogging the AvengersDoes Thanos know about the Worthy enchantment?
EDIT: Oh, actually, he probably does! I'm sure Loki whined about it at some point.

They have the rights to the Xmen too, so Boom Boom can be there.
