So I was browsing through OTC and noticed we don't have any threads dedicated to food. I figured this was a shame since food is an important aspect of life and culture that helps people connect with each other. Plus, we kind of need it to live. So I figured, why not start a thread to let people here talk about food related topics?
I'll start things off by asking this: what is the most "disgusting" food you ever ate and enjoyed despite its reputation?
Personally, I've eaten things like organs including chicken testicles, stinky fermented tofu, and most recently durians. And I've enjoyed all of them. Especially the durian. Maybe I'm just one of the people who isn't bothered too much by the smell, but it really is just as good as its fans claim. The taste really is remniscient of almonds too. Now I want to try eating it in a cake or icecream.
I only have fizzy/sparkling water in my house. Granted, it's mineral sparkling water from the source, it tends to be milder than Perrier (that one is undrinkable), and it's locally owned (so many brands in Italy...)
''There's no magic in tuning; yet, it's something that tends to escape from any logic."Can't stand unsweetened carbonated water myself, at least from the brands I've tried like La Croix or other similar ones. Has a bitter taste to it, and I'm very sensitive to bitter flavors. Might be the dissolved CO2 in it making the unsweetened acidity feel bitter to me. I also can't stand standard alcoholic beverages or straight black coffee for similar reasons.
It's some vaguely ginger-flavored soda that's usually used to ease one's tummy.
Personally, I'd compare its flavor to that of Lemon-Lime soda like Sierra Mist, but slightly...ginger-y.
Overall it's not really my favorite soda, and I don't think I've seen anyone say that they love it. It's, well, mostly a home remedy for one's tummy. Not outright bad-tasting though.

Leviticus 19:34It's a soda flavored with Ginger. Most commercial versions of it is just your standard carbonated sugar/fructose corn syrup water with a ginger flavoring, either natural or artificial. Though you could craft your own by boiling ginger, sweetener, and zest into a concentrated ginger syrup and then add it to soda water and would probably get a cleaner ginger flavor.
And lots of people like it as a home remedy for an upset stomach, because the ginger can help with nausea, bloating and upset stomach, while still being a soda.

There's also ginger beer, which is basically ginger ale's big brother and hits much harder with the ginger flavor.

When I worked at Red Robin, fish and chip was also my favorite. I also like spicy ketchup.
I like fish and chips as well, although I usually use regular ketchup. I don’t eat too many spicy things.
Join the Five-Man Band cleanup project!Usually prefer either teriyaki sauce or mayonnaise for dipping in fish & chips or just plain fish fillet and even eating them w/o sauce depending on how well it's cooked though when it comes to breaded fish tempura is still my personal favorite.

Eh, I like a glass or two at the end of a meal. Wouldn’t drink that on the fly over a good ol’ soda though.
