Ah, you edited.

No, you can't get it after starting with another background. Just try it if you go mad again.

Also, dream with cash, you'll buy opium. Can be risky though since it can get you affliction or dread instead of contentment, but hey, it's quick option for that.

Give me cute or give me...something?

Okay, finished my first "life" as a senior position in Glover and Glover (had to otherwise I likely would have gotten caught by the Suppression Bureau). My life as a Physician is going well, but I've captured two prisoners that I have no idea what to do with. Can I convert them to the cult, use them in a rite...?

Prisoners are for sacrifices, to various ends.

Ah. Well I do have a Forge Rite that I could use...but what do I put it on to start?

Remind me what Aspects does a prisoner have on em? Those are the important things for the Rites.

Overall you can just start putting random things into other slots and the game will helpfully hint what else you need. (Try Knock, it's always there.) You get a viable ritual when the start button lights up.

Edit: Ah there, checking in an old save, Heart, Lantern and Grail on 3. Well, it doesn't map well to any summons up and around - most will need more of any of those aspects, and then several others, so you don't have enough ritual space. You can throw them in with Winter for a nice ghost. Or with a ton of Forge and a good bunch of Knock summon my favourite KING CRUCIBLE.

The prisoner in question (alongside some Hapless Prisoner) is Connie Lang or whatever her last name is. But I'll try around and see if there's anything that she can do to serve the Cult.

You mean an investigator? No, the identities are gone once they've been caught.

She's an Adversary, yeah.

But I mean...serve the cult.

Do they have same aspects as I had on my betrayed hireling? I'm not sure if the game puts them in a difference.

(Most common prisoner-feeding time is deeper Mansus levels, rather than rites. For ritual sacrifice it's easy enough to lure a hireling without putting them into a cage first - and they get to keep their stats for it.)

So I have two captives that will just turn into corpses and be disposed of. How disappointing XD

[up]If possible, you could always raise them as undead servants. I think that stops corpses from turning into Notoriety.

[up]Try Rite of the Mother's Mercy when you have a corpse. Shattered Risens require 8 Winter and 8 Edge, while Burgeoning Risens require 8 Winter and 8 Moth.

[up][up]IIRC making zombies requires a lot less intense stuff. Just 2nd level should do.

[up]Fascinating. Tell me more.

Seriously though, I always found Fascination to be more annoying than Dread.

I was doing a lot of build-up that time around. Increased my strength, my scholarship, all that other stuff. But I think I did too much painting using Mystique and whatnot.

Also does Restlessness turn into Dread?

Yeah, Fascination is harder to deal with, and spawns from more common Influences, I think. But on the other hand, all it takes is level 4 (that is, just the one upgrade from the basic) Lanter Lore to get to Winter door and its unlimited supply of Dread to cool your head right back down.

...I may be just skewed in my overall opinion due to overall getting a grip on the game's functioning.

[up]Yes, it does. As does any Winter Influence ("chilly atmosphere" and the like)

"But I think I did too much painting using Mystique and whatnot."
I thiiink it more depends on what you're painting - were you doing a bunch of art of Lores? I'm currently spamming tons of maximum Notoriety paintings and I only got a couple Fascinations from dozens of turns.

Maay be just RNG screwing with you, but you should really keep an eye out on what cards you're getting from where - learning stuff like that is the game's core principle.

I've got something of an idea, at least for basic cards. Erudition comes from Studying Reason, Glimmering comes from Studying Passion, Vitality comes from Manual Labor or a few other places...

Yeah, the basics, plus random events popping up that can give any of those. Vitality also comes from Studying Health, so you can do that if you need a pick-me-up from an illness in lieu of cash.
