  • Name: Kiri
  • Age: 17
  • Gender: Male
  • Race: Human, with some draconic heritage
  • Origin: Sedura
  • Appearance: This, buried under additional clothing to stay warm in Elysius. He stands at an inch under 6 feet tall.
  • College: Evocation
  • Magic: I have permission from Grim to arrange my character's magical powers somewhat like a D&D sorcerer.
    • Cantrips: Firebolt, Light, Minor Illusion, Prestidigitation
    • 1st-level: Expeditious Retreat, Feather Fall, Shield
    • 2nd-level: Mirror Image, Scorching Ray
  • Other Skills: He used to be quite a sneaky thief. Being a quiet young orphan in Sedura, he learned how to sneak around the big city and move nearly unseen when people weren't paying attention to some kid.
  • Possessions: The only significant thing Kiri possesses is a dark gray ring with a red dragon depicted around it, theorized to act as a channel for his draconic power. Kiri doesn't know why he has it, but he gets the feeling that it means something to someone.
  • Personality: Far from his draconic ancestor, Kiri is quiet and introverted, hesitant to open his mouth around people he doesn't know. Insecure and somewhat bitter about his circumstances, Kiri has begun to throw himself into his training as a sorcerer despite underlying resentment of the path that has been sent before him. But part of him is admittedly attracted to the power that's been passed down to him, and being able to cast magic makes him feel special in a way that he hasn't before.
  • Bio: Kiri is a foundling of Sedura, left alone to be raised by the kingdom in its capital city. Though Madina would tolerate nothing less than the best possible orphanage system in her kingdom, Kiri still felt a longing for things he did not have such as a family and a home to call his own. Unwilling to talk much among his peers, he resorted to thievery and subtle shenanigans as a way of getting attention as he grew up learning the streets of Sedura.
    • This changed a year ago, when red scales began appearing on his skin, his formerly normal brown eyes changed color to match them, and he found himself able to cast magic that he could also cast without gestures or words. He could not hide this forever, and was subjected to disdain and cruel treatment as was given to anything associated to the destructive red dragons, who had taken the lives of the king consort's own parents years ago.
    • But when his emotions and his torment reached a breaking point, when he nearly harmed someone with his burgeoning powers, it was the king consort himself, Pius the Ashen Avenger, who protected the people and brought the situation back under control. Kiri was afraid of what the paladin would do to him when he saw the scales through burned clothes, but instead Pius took him into the Violet Palace for the only time in his life, where he confessed his situation to the royal couple of Allurand themselves. After a little bit of planning, and some pointers on how to conduct and refine himself, they arranged for Kiri to be sent to Elysius, where he could learn to make good use of the power some red dragon had put into his family tree long ago.

  • Name: Alvurac Ro
  • Age: 18
  • Gender: Male
  • Race: Human (Referred to as 'The Ro' by his family, although this is just a name birthed out of pride than a description of an actual race)
  • Origin: Elysius
  • Appearance: Tall with an apparently unimpressive build, although it is actually quite toned beneath his clothing despite the lack of muscle mass. Rarely seen without his parka, no matter how hot it is.
  • College: Abjuration
  • Signature Spells: Alvurac primarily focuses on creating spherical barriers of energy around himself (and others in a short range of about 2 metres); usually tinted a light, translucent blue. It is the only spell he has put genuine work into, and as such the shields are abnormally tough and difficult to shatter. Of course, prolonged/repeated and concentrated attacks could shred through them with some effort, and the spells aren't nearly as high levelled as most of the teachers, but it is still quite impressive nonetheless, especially for someone who just doesn't seem to be bothered with anything else. Alvurac also can use the fireball spell, but this is only out of obligation as the Ro family refused to let him focus on purely defensive magic. While... certainly decent, his fireballs are clearly not his primary focus, and are occasionally sloppily cast and prone to collapsing in his hands.
  • Other Skills:
    • Despite his apparent lack of musculature on the exterior, Alvurac has been (forcefully, mind) trained by the Ro family in hand-to-hand combat to fair success, although his execution of the techniques are quite lackadaisical and lacking any form of enthusiasm. He is primarily counterattack and redirect focused, preferring to stumble his opponents with calculated deflections and swift dodges, all done with that infuriatingly bland stare of his.
    • Alvurac also has a very intuitive and observant skill, tending to dissect and study his opponent/target's posture and mannerisms for any combat weaknesses for him to exploit so he can use the least amount of effort possible. This also makes him very good at reading people in general, although he rarely brings anything notable up unless pressed, mostly out of laziness and partially out of respect for privacy.
    • Alvurac also has a shockingly powerful singing voice and demonstrates quite a large range for an untrained singer, at least when he can be bothered to use it. He would never admit it, but he does finds it incredibly funny whenever he breaks out into an operatic baritone or a high head note and promptly sending anyone in the area jumping a good three feet into the air in shock, but he only ever really does it seriously in private. And the shower.
  • Possessions:
    • Raven Familiar: Rarely brought out, occasionally forgets he even has it. The raven, called Guile (he did attempt to give it a longer name but gave up halfway through) is highly intelligent, hence its name, and does understand English, but either cannot or does not speak it. Primarily used only as a messenger bird, to its obvious irritation.
    • Sketchpad: A leather bound sketchpad that he can be found scribbling in when not dozing. Filled with bizarrely and uncharacteristically intricate drawings, usually of landscapes but occasionally of certain people he knows. One of the few things to get him flustered and embarrassed when taken away.
    • Cloak of Ro: A large, dark red cape that he was, once again, obligated to take by insistence of the Ro family. Of quite high-quality material similar to that of velvet in texture, stitched with designs in a golden thread which culminate into an extravagant sigil in the upper middle of the back. Alvurac finds it incredibly tacky.
    • Parka: A parka. Alvurac is quite fond of it, since he never takes it off.
    • Dagger of Ro: The only weapon he bothered to take. Like the cloak, it is of high quality and is etched with detailed runic designs, but he finds it too weighted to be practical. It does make an excellent doorstop and toothpick though.
  • Personality: Alvurac's most dominant quality is his sheer lack of enthusiasm and flashiness in practically everything he does, even in the middle of intense battle, tending to search for the easiest way through a situation in order to put in the least amount of effort possible. If it wasn't for the fact that he was the 'proud' owner of the Ro family's cloak, it would be impossible to guess that he was even of somewhat high-class blood. He seems to bank on this, acting genuinely annoyed whenever someone brings up his family in favour of just being the kid in the back of the class. Despite his occasionally blunt demeanour and laziness, Alvurac does find himself going out of his way to help those he's close to, albeit with much cursing under the breath, and does occasionally have spikes of energy and emotion when the situation calls for it. Not one to speak unless spoken to, apart from when he has a droll comment to make, Alvurac is an almost irritatingly lazy but occasionally surprising person to be around.
  • Bio: A member of the decently high-class Ro family situated in Elysius, Alvurac was pressured from a young age to live up to their high expectations, but his introverted personality and low energy in most circumstances ended up being a severe obstacle, although he did do fairly well in close-quarters combat. Despite this, eventually giving up on even trying to be enthusiastic after reaching a low point after starting magic tutoring from his family, his lazy demeanour reached a new high once he started going through his puberty stage. He seems to be slowly breaking out of it though, gaining passion in specific areas of interest, such as defensive magic, tactical examination, people skills, and other less flashy and more practical abilities than what the Ro family were trying to teach him. Their stubbornness in him learning something 'useful' hasn't dwindled, though, and so they have sucked up their pride and elected to send him to Màna in favour of potentially unsuccessful future home-tutoring. Alvurac was not amused, but has reluctantly accepted his fate.

Argh, I hope this is good, I spent most of the night on this. D:

  • Name: Nyxus Astor
  • Age: 18
  • Gender: Male
  • Race: Fair Elf
  • Origin: Kristaya, Kallian
  • Appearance: Tall and pale, with long black hair that reaches to his back and a somewhat androgynous physique. His once-violet eyes have turned a clouded, sightless white, and there’s often a scowl or at least a stern look on his face. As for clothes, he tends to try to dress neatly.
  • College: Divinitation
  • Signature Spells:
    • Detect mana: Most commonly used Signature Spell of his. While he does use the spell for its intended purpose of detecting the presence of magic, he can also perceive the mana within living beings, as well as determine how skilled with magic they potentially are. It’s not a full substitute for his sight (he often has a hard time telling people apart unless there’s obvious differences in physique or magic ability, for starters, and he definitely can’t perceive anything inanimate unless it’s got magic on it), but he still finds it useful.
    • Mind Spikes: A more offensive form of divinitation magic, he essentially inflicts psychic damage on a target, and, unless the target fights back the effect, is aware of where said target is for the next hour. Obviously, he’s not going to sling it around willy-nilly.
    • Tongues
    • Brochi’s Abyssmal Sight: The ritual that got him into this mess in the first place, and a spell he’d never want to use again. First created by the warlock-turned-Goddess of Atonement Thetis, the ritual requires a bit of demonic/fiendish essence to track any betrayer god or demon down at the abyss. It’s possible for the Diviner to make a warlock pact with whoever they communicate with, but when he casted it Nyxus didn’t go through with that bit (“I wasn't that reckless, I knew what happened with Thetis”)
  • Other Skills: Archery (He wished to be a member of the KDF), cooking, storytelling. He used to do a lot of reading before he lost his sight, though, and still wishes he could do so again.
  • Possessions: White staff, bow (with arrows), Thetis Brochi’s spellbook (which he will never show to anyone or even acknowledge the existence of), crystal pendant (from father; keepsake he got before being exiled)
  • Personality: Nyxus isn’t much of a people person. Quiet and a bit shy most of the time, and snarky and irritable when in a bad mood, he doesn’t exactly give off a good first impression to most people. Make no mistake, though, he’s someone whose eager to lay down his life to save another’s and has a strong sense of right and wrong. His perfectionistic nature, eagerness to prove his worth, and self-loathing will very likely be his downfall, though – and depending on who you ask, it already has.
  • Bio:
    • Nyxus Astor grew up in the Kristaya region of Kallian, an area known for crystal forests and Kallian's magic schools. He was in a loving household, though his father was often off on important business for the Kallian Defense force. Nyxus turned out to be exceptional with divinitation magic, even compared to his fellow Fair Elven peers. An offer for an entry position in the KDF seemed to be in the stars for him.
    • Thetis Brochi's spellbook was likely where things went wrong for him. It wasn’t even the real deal, just a copy that somehow ended up in the local library without anyone noticing, but soon enough the fifteen year-old boy decided he would his prowess as a Diviner via casting a spell created by the goddess. He somehow managed to pull off the very advanced and very powerful Abyssal Sight ritual, allowing him to gaze into the Abyss, and look upon the form of Asphodel. Maybe if he wasn't as powerful as he claimed he was the spell wouldn't have worked, but he was, and Asphodel decided to show Nyxus his true form, an act that Nyxus was lucky it only just blinded him as opposed to flat-out dying.
    • This wouldn’t even be the end of his misfortune, though, as Rozel had noticed the sudden increase in abyssal mana and apprehended the boy, sentencing him to exile from Kallian for even marginally dealing with Asphodel. Fortunately for Nyxus, his feat in pulling off the spell, even if it horribly backfired, caught the attention of two other deities. Madina, the goddess of justice (and Thetis’s mother), and Mireena, the Songstress of Winter, would be able to neither restore his sight nor convince Rozel not to exile him, but they were able to arrange him safe transport south into Mireena’s patron city of Mana.
    • He’s spent the past few years honing his skills and working at the various odd jobs in the outer rim, before ultimately applying for the school earlier this year. At this point, he hopes to continue his studies without any more major roadblocks…

  • Name: Elodie Allard
  • Age: 17
  • Gender: female
  • Race: human
  • Origin: South Elysius
  • Appearance: now add a little salt on there…
  • College: Transmutation
  • Signature Spells:
    • Food Transmutation: As long as she has the required ingredients in close proximity and she knows the traditional method of preparing them, she can turn the ingredients into an actual meal in a blink of an eye. She can also do it the other way around.
    • Hot Hand: a very very stripped down fireball, just a hot hand to heat up her pan on a go.
    • Salt Conjuration: She can pull salt out of thin air.
  • Other Skills:
    • Traditional cooking: Of course she can do that. Her current level of cooking is being able to cook a classic omelet, the one that’s rolled into a cigar shape, with the outside finely set with no browning and the inside creamy, but not runny.
    • poetry writing and reciting:she dabbled in those every once in a while. She started when her friend challenged her in a poetry battle. They always liked it when she dished out food related puns.
  • Possessions:
    • Cast iron skillet: The classic pan required to cook a good steak
    • Huge pot: Great for cooking soups and sauces
  • Personality:
    • Elodie can be a little intense and too focused on food and she will ask her peers what they had for dinner if at least to alleviate her rapidly increasing boredom or curiosity. She held a strong belief that food is a strong indicator of one’s culture, reach and, to a smaller extent, themselves.
    • Elodie is always on the lookout for any new recipes she could find to try and do it herself. Or at least find ingredients that she can try and use. Both usually means walking around a lot, which she doesn’t mind, especially in Elysius’s chilly weather. Of course, she knew she would have to go through some hoops to get the BEST ingredients. She would love some company on those types of trips tho…
    • She’s also very friendly with the locals, if only because she kept walking around the Outer Circle for so long in her culinary quest.
  • Bio:
    • Elodie was just a farm girl living south of the Mana wall border, on a ground that’s not completely covered by snow. Her mom was a farmer, growing wheat and raising cattles for both milking and slaughtering, her dad is a cook and owner of a small soup shop at the Outer Circle, prized for his cheap pea soup and doughboy dumplings.
    • Growing up, Elodie has always been an energetic kid, tho her parents couldn’t channel those energies into something useful like helping mama to milk the cows or help daddy with transporting stuff. No, she mostly just go out and play with her friends playing games and pranks.
    • But one night, Elodie was walking back home from an all-day 12-year-old adventure of finding kitties and petting them that last way longer into the night than it should. It was when she was walking back home on a chilly night where she came across a strange character in a hoodie riding a wagon pulled by a black horse. “Hello there, young girl,” he asked. “Would you like some hot food in this terrible weather?”
    • Normally, she wouldn’t talk to strangers buuuut since she’s freezing to the bones and she’s a little hungry so she simply nodded. The stranger went into his covered wagon and...actually, Elodie doesn’t really know what’s going on in there, the covers blocked even a slither of light from inside, nor a sound. What sense she does able to take in is that aroma leaking out of the wagon, making her instantly salivating like waterfall but its indescribable of how it’s smelled. Minutes seems like hours before the stranger opened the flaps and gave her a roll of...something. Elodie does not have much time to think before she just subconsciously wolf it ALL down in a blind rage of flavour. A rush came into her head before she passed out.
    • A day later, she woke up in her bedroom with her parents hovering over her asking if she was alright. The first thing she noticed is that she instantly has no sense of grogginess in the morning, which is rare for her. The next thing she noticed is that she feels all warm and toasty. She totally blanked out, despite her parents interrogating her, as she realized her one true calling: she must find out what that food is.
    • The next few years of her life was slowly more dedicated towards food, finding out who that stranger is or what that food is. Half of her time was spent searching around the outer circle, buying every food she could find and try it, in the hopes that she finds the one. No such luck. She does enjoy most of the food that she ate, tho. In the meantime, she spent more time in her father’s shop, dedicating herself to the culinary arts in the hopes that she could replicate it.
    • While she was working there, she talked to some of the alumni and students of the colleges about her food experiences while she was making their food. Apparently, they theorized that it might be MAGICAL food and they suggested that Elodie should join them to find out. Elodie wasn’t sure if there’s a refer-a-friend program like what her dad implemented but eh, it’s worth a shot. Well, let’s just say, with flipping between the practice of making pea soups and practicing spells that are aligned to her goals, she made it.

Alright, a bit busy at the moment, so will get to accepting later.

Just a quick announcement. So, we have eleven accepted people at the moment, so I'm just going to be putting on a hard cap.

For now, we have five open slots left.

Co-GM here, Grim was busy, so in the meantime, I'll respond to this wave of sign-ups since I am as much in authority over this as him.

~Heroic Sociopath: Though your sheet is still in progress I'm already gonna tell you that your Dispel is not allowed, though we allow homebrew spells and since this isn't an rp with mechanics we accept something without the level of detail in D&D, this is still partially based on it, and Dispel is far too high level for your character to have.

~Def Revenge 24601:Sorry but Grim made a mistake with the Enchantment quote, he took that one from the wrong place, he meant to describe D&D enchantment, "Spells that affect the minds of others, influencing or controlling their behavior." What you're looking for would be transmutation.

Secondly, considering your character's personality, his indecisiveness looks like something that'd prevent him from going with two different colleges as that is a large undertaking, as was mentioned in the OP it is very rare and the Mana doesn't just let anyone do it, they'd need to go through a big test beforehand, which requires a lot out of a person who is supposedly easygoing and was "All over the place"

~Quantum Melody 29: Most of your sheet is fine, but same as what I mentioned to Def, are you sure she decided to study in two schools? That's not just something you do in secret, she'd need to be capable of studying intensely in secret as well as entering two is much more difficult. As long as the spells aren't too strong, she can have spells from other schools, all students are required a basic knowledge of magic in all schools, it's just not their specialty.

Secondly, and this is a more personal issue, but considering what you have in spells is specific and with description and just D&D spells, putting it in prose like that is not good organization, I'd prefer it if you could please organize them in the following manner:

  • Signature spells:
    • Spell name A:Spell Description
    • Spell Name B:Spell Description

~Insano: Accepted, welcome to Màna!

~Enirboreh: As I said earlier, signing up to two colleges is rare and passing and has a high requirement that usually means you need to put in a big effort, Considering how you describe your character as someone who has no ambition and is rather lazy, It seems uncharacteristic that he'd sign for 2, much less pass the requirements to get into 2 colleges, even if he is doing it because he was forced to choose Evocation this just seems weird and unfitting.

Secondly, the range on your magic barriers is a bit much, shorten it to 2 meters at least, you're twice the general range of things in D&D and that is our base, even if your character is REALLY good at doing that one spell, for a starting wizard this is too much.

~Aquatica: Accepted, welcome to Màna!

~Sgtpendulum: Accepted, Welcome to Màna!

Righto, edited the changes, he now only attends Abjuration and his barriers are only extendable up to two metres as you said. I decided to keep his fireball spell though, if that's alright, so he has at least some form of offensive magic, even if it regularly collapses like a disintegrating packet of potato chips.

I imagine it'd only ever be useful for catching potential opponents off guard while they're close, not a thrown technique, if that makes sense.

Why did you change your sheet? Grim asked you to explain to him why most of your spells were offensive when the background didn't hint at like, a violent hobby or personality or anything. You even mention his background didn't have physical conflict, he didn't request that you change it, it just seemed weird so he asked why you chose to do it this way, same for when I asked you guys about your choice to have them go to 2 Colleges, I asked you guys to explain it to me how they managed it because the sheets didn't hint at high academic capabilities or anything.

I'm setting this up for later.

  • Name: Medaglia the Falcon
  • Age: 21
  • Gender: Male
  • Race: Pigeon Avian; don't let the self-appointed title fool you.
  • Origin: Copia
  • Appearance: Despite his freaky appearance, he's got a hand for handling animals. Stands at daunting 7'1 of height, but usually slouches. Muscles ripple under his wiry body and his wings are mighty enough to snuff out torches with a single movement. The mask on his head is a visor that lets him see in normal light; he became sensitive to light at some point of his experiments. (Ironic for a guy toting around the Sunstaff; more later).
    • And to think he was a chubby 5'6 of ordinary, unremarkable pigeon avian when he was a teen...
  • College: Transmutation
  • Signature Self:
    • Alter Self - In Medaglia's opinion, perhaps the only spell worth his attention in pursuit of Perfect Form. The name is self-explanatory; it lets the caster alter their physical feature, a body part, one's height or weight, muscle density, the works. It's an explicitly "self" spell and he cannot alter other bodies or items with a touch. The more radical the change, the more taxing it will be to perform.
    • Permanency - Second most important spell for those in search of Perfect Form; it allows the caster to make a magical effect permanent. This isn't reserved to just alterations to self; warding runes, unnatural weather conditions, mirror images and everything that sticks around for a set amount of time can be made permanent; the same applies to enchantments applied to items. Appropriately more taxing for larger effects. At the moment, due to his... relationship with magic, Medaglia can only make permanent effects out of stuff he himself conjured.
      • As a side effect of riddling himself with so many magical permanencies, Medaglia is likely to set out any "Detect Magic"-esque effect off like it's going out of style due to all the magical residue left on him. Conversely, effects that nullify magic are likely to be harmful - if not outright lethal - to him. (though a simple Dispel likely won't do).
  • Other Skills:
    • While he had no formal training, Medaglia is experienced in a fight; a largely self-taught style based on overwhelming strength and divebombing attacks is what he uses.
    • His body is deceptively strong and tough despite his wiry frame, and the claws and talons on his person can be real sharp.
    • Knows basics of alchemy, though what he can concoct is largely used as supplements for his alterations, i.e. a potion to reduce dizziness.
      • Speaking of, he's got a terrible head for liquor.
    • A minor case of magic resistance, developed from the thin coat of magical residue on him.
  • Possessions:
    • The Sunstaff - A length of ordinary spiky stick and Medaglia's weapon of choice. Symbolizes his devotion to Irida and the absolute height of Perfect Form that he'll one day achieve.]]
    • A journal, used mostly to write down enhancements, suggestions for enhancements and aftereffects of thereof. More of a scientist's notebook than a journal, really.
    • An alchemical set.
  • Personality: Medaglia conducts himself with an air of a distinguished preacher; a very quiet yet booming presence. While he considers himself the creature on the road to Perfect Form, he is far from arrogant, though his confidence and zeal can make him come off as such. Eager to lend help to others whenever he has the time to spare (since so much of it is spent on self-betterment), though it can come off as a superior being deigning to lift a finger to help an inferior creature. He doesn't half-ass his personal quest, and finds it offensive to himself to even think the same, so you can expect him to give 100% of effort regardless of whether he's bashing a monster's head in, cooking or sewing. If he cannot do it, he will learn it. A devout follower of Irida.
  • Bio: Sometimes greatness must be made for oneself. Such was the case of Meda of Cherryroad, a sleepy little town in Copia. Like his father and his father's father, he was destined to be yet another Copian farmer who plows the land so that Allurand does not starve. Meda - a chubby, unremarkable kid - always scoffed at the idea. He always saw himself as something greater, he just wasn't sure what that was going to be.
    • His life changed forever when, at a tender age of 13, he came face-to-face with a creature with no name, one that was in dire need of nourishment. He barely escaped with his life, but his face was forever scarred into an unrecognizable mess and it wasn't even certain if he would survive the encounter with the servant of beings best left untitled. His parents did not want to lose their only son - no matter if he was nothing like they hoped - and so seeked a healer to mend their boy's grievous wounds. As it turned out, it was a priestess of Irida.
    • As he lay there and his physical body healed, his mind did not. Whether it was due to the shattering presence of the unnamed creature, the fever dream of near-death or something else entirely, Meda awoke with a newfound purpose. He saw The Shining Light in his hallucination, and he later said that she bestowed upon him a mission: to prepare so that they could meet in the future. To meet a goddess at her full splendor, one would have to undertake great pains so that a feeble mortal body could withstand her grossly incandescent resplendence.
    • He left Cherryroad one day and never came back, seeking mages who would teach him Transmutation, or more specifically: ways to alter his body. It was a long, grueling process, but he wandered Allurand, grew stronger and smarter, and continued to change. His body now is nothing like the one he started this journey with. He learned how to fight, learned how to help others, but his chief directive, appointed to him by Irida herself - and not because of a delusional fantasy - remained at the helm of his goalposts. Eventually, he found himself considering and then joining the ranks of transmuters in Mana. There he would hone his craft to perfection and finally fly towards the sun to meet Her.

@Heroic Sociopath: We G Ms have reviewed the character, and we have come to the decision that he doesn't fit the RP.

I'm sorry.

Fergard Stratoavis: Medagalia is accepted! Welcome to Mana!

Something Random 113: Firstly, I need this to be cleared up, is Nellsin just paranoid about his blood or were you actually thinking of giving him an ancient evil bloodline? Because the latter is definitely rejected. Secondly I am not feeling that the the tone of this character fits in much with everything else, I mean a paranoid-ass necromancer, this is a slice of life RP and the whole way you're writing his sheet feels a bit off from the atmosphere I feel Mana should have. He feels to me right now as too genuinely a mental mess rather than a bit kooky like Machina or Meda, as he is right now, Nellsin is rejected.

The slots are now completely full and the signups are closed until further notice, however you can still post sheets and be put on the waitlist if they're accepted, and once we decide to reopen sign-ups they'll be taken in.

[up] He's not paranoid in the genuine-mental-illness way of the term, nor is it nearly serious enough to be on mental illness levels. Him worrying too much is just a product of his upbringing. He does not believe that everyone is out to get him, he just... worries (mostly just thinks everyone wants something from him or that he isn't doing well enough for them). Also, as for the ancestry thing, I actually... don't know. It was going to remain ambiguous, a sort of Maybe Magic, Maybe Mundane thing that is never actually given an actual yes or no answer. It wouldn't have any affect on his character.

However, I understand your concern. Thanks for the feedback.

  • Name: Gabrielle Dahlia Milleflue
  • Age: 17
  • Gender: Female
  • Race: Elf Changeling
  • Origin: Zemir
  • Appearance: Gabrielle, looks basically like pictured, though of course, clad in far less modern clothes. She has long, fluffy, slightly wavy hair of a strawberry blond color that is too strawberry not to be more easily just called pink. With big, lovely, doe like blue eyes with long lashes, an elegant, slender figure and a doll like face... she looks exactly how one would picture an enchantment student or perhaps a particularly gifted and vain transmutation one.
  • College: Enchantment
  • Signature Spells:
    • Hypnotic Stare: Causes a glow in the eyes or wand which is easy to latch on and be distracted by. Can be used as a tool in traditional hypnosis and suggestion by a willing partner, enhancing the effects of it and making it easier to attain trance. On an unwilling partner, it is merely a distracting glow that takes more attention that normal and makes it hard to ignore Gabrielle... an unwilling trance may be brought about only by a pretty long exposure with accompanied induction on a subject that isn't moving away, doing physical activity or in general doing something that would impede dozing off.
    • Self-Hypnosis: Gabrielle's most used spell, a simply enchantment that allows for easy self hypnosis, putting the caster in a fuzzy state on which they can give themselves instructions and generally do hypnotic suggestions to the self. Allows the user to input triggers, such as to dull emotional responses when thinking of a word, to flare up specific emotions, to associate certain sensations with people or objects, forget certain things or focus more clearly. Basically, allows for hypnotic tricks to be used by the caster on the caster.
    • Command: Forceful enchantment magic, depends on the subject understanding the user. Imbue a single word command to a single target with a burst of magic, triggering an instinctive and sudden action. Common commands are Sit, Drop, Approach, Flee and the like. The instinct to protect oneself is not overcome by the command, so while one could be made to drop a sword on a duel, one could not be made to run into flames or attempt on their own life.
    • Vicious Mockery: Gabrielle's only ability with actual damage, imbue psionic magic into an insult thrown at an opponent, dealing light psychic damage and causing a distraction that makes it harder to flawless perform their next attack.
    • Prestidigitation: Basic tricks of a witch or mage, though not related to enchantment Gabrielle studied them out of sheer utility.
    • Minor Telepathy: A spell that allows Gabrielle to communicate with someone mentally... the target can then think a response back to her, though the target can somehow differentiate between mind speech and their own inner monologue, so they won't give away their hidden thoughts unless they are the kind of clumsy person that would blurt them out in normal speech. Only works on 60 feet range and there must be nothing harder than say, a thin book between the user and the target. Useful for doing gossip in class with teachers that don't take precautions with mind communications. If the target is unwilling, they can quiet up Gabrielle's messages entirely with only a bit of concentration.
    • Charm Person: A classic, a spell to make someone charmed by you. If affected the target disposition towards the caster is improved towards friendliness or if predisposed towards it, light infatuation. The target will not attack and will try to be useful to a reasonable extent to the caster. Unfortunately, once it ends, the target definitely knows it was charmed and the prior emotions were fake so for the most part not a practical spell to use unless you're never meeting the one you cast it on again.
    • Bless (Cheer): A spell more commonly found among priests, by means of enchantment you enhance a small group of people with energy and focus, making it a bit easier for them to do pretty much anything. By cheering on someone and boosting their emotional state and drive, Gabrielle can do something similar to a minor blessing.
    • Raise/Lower Emotions: Enchantment spell, used to affect emotions directly. Can't incite emotions that are not experienced by the user. Can be used to emflame an emotion that is already there or dull an emotion felt by the target. By overcasting can attempt to dull all emotions in the target for the duration, making them feel dull and operate only by logic.
    • Sleep: Weave an enchantment into a ball of visible psionic energy... throw to have the effect expand like a gas on a small, 25 diameter space causing targets within to become drowsy and fall asleep. Background noise, unless excesive or sudden won't wake those affected, but shaking them awake and any physical sensation such as a hit will wake them up. Does not affect Elves.
  • Other Skills: Aside from her enchantment magic, Gabrielle does know the principles of traditional hypnosis. She's somewhat good at reading people and a good study. She's good at cooking and at household chores. She's also quite good with makeup and fashion.
  • Possessions: A cooking kit, sewing kit, first aid kit, her wand, more clothes than you can believe would be crammed into a single trunk, her wand, a crystal pendulum, makeup kit, diary, comb, mirror and her familiar, an albino winged snake named Millie.
  • Personality: On first impressions, Gabrielle may seem somewhat aloof, detached and perhaps even arrogant unless she's properly engaged or she's facing someone she wishes to make a good impression on. While fairly adept at social matters, Gabrielle does have a tendency to keep people at arms' lenght and while she can easily make and maintain superficial relationships, a deeper bond of true friendship or romance requires a level of trust that she has a hard time providing. Elegant, composed, usually in control of herself, Gabrielle is one who works hard to save 'face' and most of all, keep herself always steady and in control. However, despite her cold exterior she's both gentler and also more wicked than she appears. Gentler, because she means well and wishes to find a way to be happy while helping people with her unique and at times controversial powers... and despite herself she does care about the people around her though she tries not to let it show. More wicked, because due to her heritage and curses, she does have some evil desires and impulses that rise up in her from time to time, though she does her best to keep those controlled and away from her actions.
  • Bio: Gabrielle is a changeling, the product of an union between a mortal and a Hag, a dark witch who cast her lot with darkness, evil and malice in the pursuit of power. While Gabrielle has no idea who her biological father is (the man is more than likely dead or worse), to her misfortune she knows quite well that her Mama is Beatrice Le'Shani once a powerful and beautiful elven wizardess who at some point turned her back on polite society and Goodess for more power and ambition. Gabrielle is but one of her many daughters, pawns she plants upon the world. Upon being born, Gabrielle was set on the threshold of a wealthy family from Zemir, the Milleflue, a pretty and healthy elven baby girl. Changelings are nearly undistinguishable from their parent species, but universally they tend to be beautiful... though whenever this is a means of getting them accepted by their adopted parents or a set up for their intended future is not terribly clear. Still, Gabrielle was accepted into the family, adopted as their daughter and for a time she lived a normal life as a quiet, somewhat bookish and shy child. However... Changelings are not set free with the intention of them finding a happy life elsewhere. Changelings are linked to their mothers who place curses upon them, who visit their dreams to slowly twist them into corrupted being such as them... so that one day, they'll head the hypnotic call to come home once they are adults, to sacrifice whatever goodness remains in them as well as their beauty to become true hags under the authority of their mothers. Gabrielle's life began to be filled with disturbing dreams, with commands and curses placed upon her, with waking up in places she didn't remember... always close to the dark woods where her mother's power was greatest. Things at home weren't the greatest either, with her adopted father having a bit of a temper and tensions over her strange behavior boiling over. Those were hard years on which meek Gabrielle was under a lot of stress and fear, her health as well decaying... However, it wasn't until one night that things boiled over beyond what she could stand... as one night, controlled by her mother and sleep walking, she found herself waking up in the woods behind her home, magical power swirling around her as she knelt, covered in the blood of a precious pet of hers that had been sacrificed by her own hands in trance. Gabrielle's despair, horror and sadness that night gave birth to something stronger... Hate. She utterly and completely hated the dark figure in her dreams, her birth mother, her curses and nightmares. From the trauma of that night, Gabrielle rebuilt herself stronger... letting the sheer passion and drive of her hate drive her into her now deeply held desire to get true control of her destiny. She was already a smart girl, but now she put her smarts into becoming a weapon to take charge of herself... she investigated the powers of manipulation and enchantment that her mother used to control and toy with her, and as she studied she found herself not only understanding it to better shield herself but becoming quite adept at it. She also worked and studied into taking control of her circumstances, studying fashion, poise, etiquette and more to present herself as a strong individual... to be the one to move others instead of being moved herself. With her adopted father, she learned that she could use her powers for good, as she eventually got his respect with her new attitude and used her enchantment powers to help calm his emotions when his temper got the best of him, making her family work through their issues and grow a bit closer. Now, after lots of studying and work, Gabrielle has been accepted to the Academy, where she plans to grow strong enough to permanently cast the shadow of her Mother away from her dreams and escape her influence entirely. While lately she has gotten a lot better at shielding herself from her, she knows that is only because her Mother has her attention split and prefers to tease and beguile instead of taking her completely by force... if she truly wanted to, with all the hooks she has already in her mind, Gabrielle would be helpless but to become a doll to her designs. Already she has quite a few curses and triggers within her... chiefly among them being, that she can't tell anyone of authority or let them learn of Beatrice. Regardless, even without that curse, Gabrielle already is determinate to take control of her fate by herself... she won't have someone save her, because if she does, even if her Mother is vanquished her shadow will remain in her head forever.
