We know that Stella couldn't give less of a shit about Via unless she can use her to hurt Stolas, so I guess on some level, Via is used to Stella considering her less important than her bath mat. And I'm fairly certain that, for that very reason, Via confronting Stella about her behavior would've been about as effective as tossing meringues at a mountain because Stella is too self-absorbed to listen or care. But Stolas has cared for her and suddenly stopped. It's a complete 180 from her perspective - Suddenly, Stolas seems to care more about thirsting after Blitzo and getting into shouting matches with Stella than spending time with her or caring about her.
As
said, it probably hurts more when somebody you're used to caring for you stops doing so whereas it's same old, same old when you're used to being neglected by somebody.
But we've discussed before how the lack of interaction between mother and daughter and how Obviously Evil and neglectful Stella has been makes Via's belief that everything used to be "fine" make absolutely no sense and how an explanation for why she thinks that would be much appreciated.

My AO3 profile. Let sleeping cats lie and be cute and calming.Understandable, but how the episode ended up playing out made the girl's outburst seem like a temper tantrum instead of the calling out that they were going for. She has to know that the lack of communication is her egg donor's fault, again she was squaking about it with Via still in the room. That scene for me killed much of the supposed emotional weight they were going for.

covering a new Instagram post from Brandon Rogers, claiming that he was hit so emotionally hard during Season 3's voice recording sessions that he could hardly say any lines.
Oh shit.
Waiting to have my head disfigured and mounted on a wall.I think I know what I want out of Stella now: Some actual nuance to her. She can still be a horrible person, but I want her to be shown in a light outside of her being an angry bitch that hated Stolas likely since they first met. Something like her genuinely caring about the well-being about her brother and her daughter. That would go a long way in making Stella an actually compelling character. Out of all the antagonists in this series, she feels like she's given the most potential to add a new layer to her character, but every time they bring in something new about Stella's life, it always revolves back to "How can I use this to make Stolas suffer?"
Oho, is season 3 going to be the show's Darkest Hour, then?
x4:
Is that a general consensus? I haven't seen much of that sentiment, to be honest.
Again - Octavia may be close to adulthood, but she's still at a vulnerable age, and everything she thought she knew has been flipped upside down. She knows that Stella doesn't give a shit about her (probably, but again, we've had this Fridge Logic discussion before) and has basically been conditioned into accepting her shitty behavior. But now, her father has been banished and denied custody of her, and she's stuck with an emotionally abusive mother and uncle. She's separated from the only one who loves her. And then, suddenly, she finds Stolas's pills and realizes that his entire life has been spent feeling miserable... and that after Blitzo re-entered his life, he suddenly started paying more attention to this imp burglar and her mother than to her.
From what I could tell, she's not presented as unreasonable for drawing the conclusions she does. And the conclusion she draws is that Stolas was just pretending to care about her for all these years. Hell, she even spells this out to him when she calls him out on it.
Wouldn't you feel at least a little bit hurt and betrayed by such a sentiment?
I didn't see a temper tantrum in "Sinsmas" - I saw an explosion of emotions from a young woman who believes that her entire life has been a lie and that nobody cares about her... and that the one person she thought cared never saw her as anything but a burden.

Don't crash out, MISSION: BAD DRIVEZO will be here tomorrow morning!
x5 I don't know if it's a common consensus, but it is how I feel. I don't expect a character to have third person knowledge of their situation, her misunderstanding about the pills makes sense for all the reasons stated. But her outburst just plain does not work for me because I can't ignore scenes that she'd have to be Mr Magoo levels of oblivious to not notice.
Octavia was in earshot when Stella was preening about keeping Stolas from getting in touch with her. She had to have heard her. Unless Stella's voice is at some pitch that Via is unable to hear her how does she not at least put together that her mother is in part responsible for the lack of communication? It's this specifically that drags down her scene at the end for me. All the show needed to do to make that whole thing a non issue was to not have Octavia close enough to her mother to hear her bragging.
x4 He's alpha in the same way red pill podcasters want their audience to see them as being.

: Spindlehorse teases that their appearance at Animate Orlando will involve a "huge game-changing announcement."
Who says Octavia DOESN’T know? She was standing around the corner - I think the framing of the scene indicated that she knows how much of a piece of shit Stella is… alongside previous instances of her snarking about Stella and Stolas’s fights and how hurt she was about Stolas forgetting his promise in favor of the fighting. We see that Via listens to music constantly when at home because she’s gotten used to the loud fights and wants to drown it out. Just because we haven’t had any scenes of her directly confronting Stella doesn’t mean that she’s oblivious to her part in everything.
And just because she blames Stolas doesn’t mean that she also doesn’t blame Stella. It’s not either/or - She doesn’t have to be on Stella’s side just because she’s not on Stolas’s. Her hugging her mother in ”Mastermind” could’ve just been her being desperate for any kind of comfort at all upon seeing her father seemingly set up to be executed, and Stella just so happened to be closeby.
With Stolas, I think she - above all else - feels BETRAYED. She feels like he’s lied to her for almost two decades and that he never cared about her, that he was more willing to die for his lover than keeping his promise to never leave her. (It’s more complicated than that, yes - it was a spur of the moment because he didn’t have time to think of another plan - but she doesn’t know that) She feels abandoned and alone. That’s why the scene doesn’t feel like a tantrum to me.
HOWEVER, I WILL say (as we’ve discussed before) that what makes the Goetia family drama not work for me isn’t that Via isn’t ”angry enough” at Stella, but rather her belief that things used to be ”fine” when flashbacks have shown that Stella never even TRIED to pretend that she was anything but a gloating, abusive, shrieking shrew who openly BRAGGED about Stolas being stuck with her and how little she cared about her daughter.

My AO3 profile. Let sleeping cats lie and be cute and calming.I wonder, based around the interactions that Stella had with her husband Stolas so far, is Octavia secretly scared of her mother? (the hug in "Mastermind" notwithstanding)
Assuming Stella and Octavia will have more screentime together (and conversations), maybe Stella will be a Mood-Swinger around her daughter - being calm for one moment, then exploding into anger, before swiftly going back to her calm state.

It was a fine short. Nothing amazing but nothing bad either. I know @Magma Tea Berry's going to like how Moxxie got the kill on the target and that asshole driver that wanted to blow his son without his victories getting undercut somehow.

Speaking of Octavia, how is she only taking her teen angst out on Stolas? Why was Stella literally bragging within earshot about keeping Him from contacting her never considered? Was there like some miscommunication between the writers and animators because if not then it makes her as self centered as her mother. Or just plain stupid.
