I don't think it's unreasonable to criticize that, to be fair? (not the stealing bit, the second part)
Silva Hound's name is the first thing in the description for Addict - I don't know if he's more well known than Paranoid DJ, but I see no reason PDJ's original version or PDJ's channel shouldn't be the first thing in the new music video's description, too. Not only that, but that he was the one who wrote the song instead of the usual songwriter is buried near the end of the credits instead of at the start. I might be reading too much into it, but I think a better job could have been done of it. PDJ has contributed a lot to the fandom, especially making Hellaverse material to keep people's interest while HH/HB were on hiatus. I don't think it's too much to ask to give him props the same way as was done for Silva Hound, even if it's assumed most of the initial viewers will already know who PDJ is.

Yeah, I'm sure they didn't intend to steal credit, but they would've done well to more prominently state that this was a Cover Version of a fan song.
Though I have to wonder if Stolas giving Blitzo the crystal means there won't be the payoff to him illegally lending out his grimoire that I was expecting.
He's already got his reputation in ruins, a divorce where his brother in law is determined to get as much as possible, and Stella is trying to kill him. And the power dynamics around said grimoire have poisoned the only vaguely positive thing to come of the entire situation. All because of the book.
Seeing as this is hell and he's basically royalty, I'm not sure Stolas really could have much more of a negative outcome without being straight up dead at this point.
And, at best, not giving it out any more provides only a little bit of wiggle room if the D.H.O.R.K.s footage comes back.
On another note, I wonder what Blitzo's Human Disguise would look like. Since he'll probably get an Asmodean crystal in the near future, that means he'll be able to create one.

Well, it's funny in an audacious kind of way, but it's not really all that biting or insightful. "Vivziepop's cartoons have swearing and sexual references" is surface-level at best. You could just as easily make those kinds of jokes about Martin Scorsese and Quentin Tarantino.
Yeah, seriously. If you’re gonna do a parody, at least put some goddamn effort into it. Like, wow, you noticed that the Hellaverse has cussing, violence and sex jokes? Congratulations on having eyes and ears, bud, it’s almost like the setting is Hell or something.
Is the Internet ever going to get over its raging hate-boner for this woman? (Don’t answer that, I know the answer and it depresses me.) Viv ain’t a saint or anything, but the sheer amount of hatred and scorn she gets feels mostly unwarranted.

My AO3 profile. Let sleeping cats lie and be cute and calming.I'm very disappointed in how a lot of this hate came from the TADC community. I guess that's what happens when your fanbase grows that fast; it attracts immature douchebags.
Still, I still think Vivienne should not respond to any of them. She would be giving them fuel and feeding all the trolls, which no one should ever do.

Oh yeah, she definitely shouldn’t. But speaking as somebody who works with community management (which I hate doing - It’s a position I was forced into) for an INCREDIBLY toxic community, I can understand if she feels tempted to tell these people to fuck off. And she’s apparently had to put up with this shit for a LONG time, from the moment she started posting Internet content, for reasons I don’t understand.
Man, some days you just want to tell people how you really feel… *sigh*
I wonder what factors there are in certain pieces of media that attracts so many assholes. Like, TADC had a great pilot - Not mind-blowing, but still pretty great - with dark humor that wasn’t explicit, so why are so many fans of it so… off-putting in their behavior?

My AO3 profile. Let sleeping cats lie and be cute and calming.I feel like the conspicuously large amount of hate towards Vivzie from the TADC community is a manifestation of the internet's wider obsession with bashing things. Even when they praise something, they always have to do it by bashing something else by comparison. And a new work that can be compared to/seen as competition for something that has been hip and trendy to bash for at least a year now is the perfect storm.

TADC is more family-friendly than the Hellaverse and as such has Multiple Demographic Appeal. Due to being an existential horror story, a well done one mind you, it gets plenty of praise. Unfortunately, that amount of praise can go absolutely overboard and the fans become arrogant, needlessly having to call their favorite work superior to other works. Combine that with the show attracting just as much little kids/teens as adults and you get several immature fans with a superiority complex to boot.
Obviously this isn't exclusive to the TADC fandom, even the Hellaverse fandom has gotten in on this, but the TADC community might be one of the most vocal versions of this in years.

Man, Viv just cannot win no matter what. Based on some of Viv's wrongheaded decisions, responses, and tweets over the years, I do think she dug herself in some of these holes. But more often than not, these malicious haters dug far more and deeper holes for her just because.
Edited by AudioSpeaks2 on Dec 6th 2023 at 7:50:46 PM
Anything to fuel their raging hate-boners for her and excuse and justify their intense hatred for her just for existing, I guess. And that requires even less effort than making mountains out of molehills or just straight-up making shit up about her, so I guess going "She's not saying anything, the cowardly bitch, that means we're right about her, hate her, hate her, bully her off the Internet or preferably off the face of the Earth!" is easier.
As mentioned, she's apparently had to face hate, scorn and vitriol no matter what she does for well over a decade, ever since she started posting stuff on the Internet in her teens. (How old is Viv now? Early-to-mid 30's or so?) I don't doubt that some of the criticism towards her is warranted - Again, she's no saint - but I don't understand what, exactly, she's done to warrant so much hatred. What, she drew a Furry Web Comic? Surely, she's the first and only person to have ever done that. Or did she behave particularly badly on whatever social media there was during this period, or any period after that?
Because I can't shake the feeling that there's at least an element of that good old Double Standard at play here - You know, the one where way too many people despise her not because of any questionable things she may or may not have actually done, but just because she's a woman who makes things on the Internet. And she's also not-white and queer (Bi or lesbian, I don't remember) - I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the hate for her comes from bigots.

My AO3 profile. Let sleeping cats lie and be cute and calming.Granted, the one thing I can put to blame on Viv's end is that the original "If TADC was written by Vivziepop" video was genuinely tongue and cheek and not meant to be taken seriously nor was malicious. Vivzie, likely due to having experienced a ton of hate before, misunderstood the video and overreacted in a childish manner, as expected of Viv (because even as a defender even I have to admit that she is a Womanchild at times.
Doesn't excuse how detractors responded to her response though.

Is that really their fault though? From what I saw of the video, it seemed to be indistinguishable from surface-level mean-spirited criticism of her. I've seen similar videos attacking The Amazing Digital Circus itself that I genuinely can't tell if they were made by fans or haters.
Wenn sie die Ente hierein lassen, lasse ich das Wasser hieraus! When somebody has had to put up wth as much hate and personal attacks as Viv has, I'm not surprised that she sometimes can't tell what's tongue-in-cheek, legitimate criticism and unwarranted, mean-spirited hating.
Not an excuse, mind you, but it could be an explanation. Especially when, as
mentioned, the TADC video "parody" was done in such a way that it came across as yet another personal attack.
... You know, one of my criticisms about the Hellaverse has been the lack of nuance when it comes to Heaven (Then again, demons - There might be a viewpoint issue there) and especially Earth in comparison to Hell, which can come off as a bit hypocritical, or at least a case of Protagonist-Centered Morality... But for all the flaws the show and Viv herself have, I think I'm starting to understand why the Humans Are Bastards angle might just be a bit of Viv's souring opinion on other people, considering the sheer armount of them who mindlessly hate on her basically just because they can. (... And the current state of the world, too, maybe? I'll be honest, oftentimes it feels like there's very little to be hopeful about)
Again, there are people who (to my knowledge) have done way worse things than her and yet have not received anywhere near the level of vitriol that she has, so, again I ask; What, exactly, has she done that makes people despise her so much that they're willing to make shit up about her just to have an excuse to try and bully her off the Internet?

Calling it now
The next Helluva Boss related drama will be people on Twitter and YouTube complaining that Viv "stole" a fan song and didn't give credit, even though she did give credit as Paranoid's name is seen in the end credits.
With that said, I do think Viv should have linked to Paranoid DJ in the description instead of a snarky "Tee hee, see I can do 'not swearing' after all!".
