Actually it's more that the anime is changing the order of some things around. They appear to be doing Shizu's backstory in a single chunk next episode but in the novels it was spaced out a bit more throughout the volume and it was made pretty explicit Shizu has met other people summoned from Japan like she was.
Rimmuru gets his fated encounter.
Black Ligthing sounds like a bad superhero name, but it looks badass.
Great Sage scenes are always a visual marvel.
Rigurdo is getting more swole by the episode.
My opinion of Gobta went up several levels.
My opinion of Gobta went down several levels.
Oh it's the dunce trio again. They're always fun.
Shizu is cute and strong. Great waifu material.
The girl you like seeing your porn collection is the stuff nightmares are made of.

Shizu backstory is just heart wrenching. From getting her home destroyed in bombardment, her mother dying, the horrible burns and being summoned to another world only to get saddle with a spirit of fire, the very thing she would fear the most.
Rimmuru showing her how Japan rebuild and prospered after the war was just beautiful. Amazing scene.
Great episode as always.
Episode 6:
Love the interaction between Rimuru and Shizu. And after looking at the latter's backstory, damn I totally feel bad for her especially she came from a WWII period and after getting summoned, she got experimented by a certain Demon Lord. Possibly a good case of Iron Woobie I guess. Also, there are some interesting moments such as Gobta is able to summon some wolves and Rimuru's remark on it (Gobta went up but after becoming a teacher he goes down :P) and the Guild trios that try to search for Veldora. Best butt monkey in the show I guess. Although this is a great episode, there is one plothole though and that's where Shizu says that she knew a line from a game despite coming from WWII era. Aside from that, it's good.
"Making screw-ups and mistakes was I ever really good at. Because everything I touch went to hell."I don't know why people keep calling that a plothole when she specifically says she's never encountered it personally but heard it from a friend. This is a world where meeting reincarnated or summoned Japanese people isn't unheard of, as seen by her reaction to Rimuru.
That said, I'm not sure why she'd find a secondhand joke like that funny enough to snicker to anyway. It does seem a little poorly thought out.
I've seen six episodes of this and I like what I've seen. Rimiru's personality is fun and flavorful, which is the most important thing to me when it comes to trapped in another world stories lately. I even like that he gains power after starting from the bottom using skills he subconscious gained as he died, because I prefer knowing and seeing that he had to do it, even if it was shown in a montage for an episode.
And that leads me to the true reason I enjoyed watching this so far, the building up of a small community into something more, and making that something a place for other people to live peacefully in. It's so engaging that I even started reading the manga due to impatience.
@Very Melon You know what they say... Start slowly at first and you will gain some happiness haha.
"Making screw-ups and mistakes was I ever really good at. Because everything I touch went to hell."I grew up on games like Tales of Symphonia/Vesperia, Disgaea, Makai Kingdom, and loved Slayers so this series hit EVERY SINGLE NOTE to resonate with me and make me happy. This series is a MASSIVE love letter to 90's and early 00's JRPG's and anime, tactical games, and world building games.
I wouldn't say right at the bottom. The combination of Predator and Great Sage are pretty hax. And getting named by a being as powerful as the Tsundere Dragon Veldora was certainly a massive power boost.
@doomrider Makes sense if you said this is a love letter for 90s gamers as we got Legend of Zelda and Lodoss of War reference from the elves and that Dragon Quest reference from Rimuru himself so yeah... Something new that I learn everyday. Speaking of 90s reference... Suikoden reference when? :P
"Making screw-ups and mistakes was I ever really good at. Because everything I touch went to hell."![]()
I don't care about how potentially strong his starting skills are, because having a Unique Protagonist Asset and a writer of some pop-cultural knowledge can make even a lame power look stupid powerful. What matters to me is being able to enjoy how he either uses them to climb up in rank or affect the setting around him in ways that I think are interesting for the narrative. It's the key difference that allows me to like seeing Shiroe from Log Horizon and Ainz Ooal Gown from Overlord, over the likes of Kirito from Sword Art Online.
@doomrider7 Ah alright that makes sense. Anyways, Episode 7:
This was a rather intense episode. We actually saw Shizu's flashback and man, I really feel bad for her when she got used by one of the Demon Kings, Leon, especially when she accidentally murdered the girl and the fox that she hangs out with. Also, I was surprised that she was in Fuze's guild 50 years ago which is understandable. And in this Episode, we got a true intense battle against Shizue's spirit, Ifrit and his salamander and fortunately, Rimuru won and damn that ending though, Ifrit's going to have a hard time with Veldora. Also, Feel bad for Shizue both in the real world and this fantasy world and RIP her just like RIP Stan Lee that passed away today.

"Making screw-ups and mistakes was I ever really good at. Because everything I touch went to hell."@Knightof Lsama Hmmm... You got a decent point. But even then, I still feel bad for the fox and the girl that got killed by Ifrit.
