So whenever you're being hostile and condescending I'm expected to just put up with it, but when I make fun of the series for having bad writing I'm a total asshole who just doesn't, like, get it, man? Excuse me if I'm unwilling to fall in line there.
Slime does not have good writing. It's still entertaining enough that I continue reading it. You seem to be unable to accept this, but you're going to have to learn to live with it eventually.
Also, who are you to claim how ignorant I am after you just admitted you haven't read the light novels either?
I don't even agree with Arha's opinion on the series but trying to bully him when he states it is way out of line. I don't like getting mods involved in those petty squabbles so lets end this peacefully, ok?
Dude. Chill out.
I suppose I should leave it at that.

Yeah, calling Slime "good writing" is laughable at best. It's entertaining, yes, but that's about it. The world-building could have been there, I suppose, but it all revolves around Rimuru-wank, so it's all wasted potential.
Hitokiri in the streets, daishouri in the sheets. It's more entertaining in a visual medium, that's for sure. It's not the worst isekai writing out there, but that's not a particularly high bar.

Disgusted, but not surprisedI thought the first couple of episodes were great then the next few were good but after that the show was fairly dull for me.
I think I liked the Teacher arc near the end though.
Maybe my biggest issue with the show is how Rimuru keeps collecting allies to live in his nation.
I'm not a fan of that type of premise at all. I'd prefer a small group that allows for more in depth characterization.
That's personal preference though. Maybe others prefer it the other way around.

"But if that happened, Melia might actually be happy. We can't have that." - Handsome RobEarly on its kind of fun because rimuru has to actually manage stuff. There are many interesting characters and seeing a slime grow powerful is interesting. It's just that (at least in the WN) it soon hits a point where everything gets managed for him. Can't comment on the LN because I could not find recent enough translations
I think it's important to remember that you can find something of higher quality than what the other party believes without being over defensive of it. Select people on this wiki have a gushing issue where they will get ardent about what they like and end up saying really uncalled for things to any critic.
I like Slime enough to watch the dub to completion, but I do see where Arha comes from with its flaws.

Working on cleaning up List of Shows That Need SummaryNew chapter, everyone is back and Rimuru gets one hell of a butler.
‘My ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.’Much more importantly Shion can now make tasty food.
Veldora is back.
‘My ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.’Yes he is. I wonder how long till everyone becomes disillusioned with him. Goddam weeb!
Clayman you dumb bitch.
New chapter:
This part of the series is so weirdly dark compared to the rest of it.
Someone finally showing his true colors.
Man, the meat lumps look way worse than I'd imagined they'd be.
Hitokiri in the streets, daishouri in the sheets.Second season started. Probably my favorite part of the story.
New chapter. I am kind of shocked that they didn't hide the deus ex machina even a little.
I'm not 100% sure but I think Adalman is one of Rimuru's subordinates from that weird dungeon crawling sideplot, right? I guess he gets an early cameo.

Question: what do you all think about what's currently going on in the anime/when you first read it in the WN/LN/manga/whatever?
Because I've seen someone intrigued by what they see as the implied moral ambiguity of it all, and I'm just bewildered because the entire thing seems designed very specifically so you think Rimura and Tempest are all perfectly justified. And this doesn't strike me as the kind of series particularly interested in examining morality or shades of gray in any real manor.
This particular part was kinda dark, even in the LN. Pretty much no levity and it "felt" dark and heavy.
I wouldn't call it morally ambiguous. Tempest got attacked unprovoked for the explicit subjugation and annihilation of it's entire people. Compared to such an extreme act, Rimuru's retaliation is basically a kindness. The sunlight attack is even quick and painless.
Mostly the intent is to make you fear Rumuru's soul. It's uncharacteristically brutal and efficient in a way he just hasn't fought before, with the explicit intent of annihilating all enemies. It was a really really dark turn in the story, played for horror more than for awesome.
I think the sheer tonal dissonance of gleeful colorful light as a peppy song plays and Great Sage coldly announces the deathtoll of thousands dying is very much conveying that.

The backhanded compliment was because you gave your usual "Arha is full of shit because he only read the web novel" response. So I figured I would reply in kind.
