The skill isn’t called “Merciless” for nothing.

Yeah 65.5 got uploaded. Fucking ouch. Rimuru is REALLY not in the mood for mercy.

[up][up] That's not what the skill does, despite the implication of the name. All it does is instantly kill and harvest the soul of anyone who has lost the will to live, and even then the skill has to be activated. It's not a passive that makes Rimuru an emotionless killing machine.

Even then it takes a certain mindset to activate such a skill. A merciless one.

That's why he acquired it. I'll post the details from the LN later.

This skill annoyed me in the WN. I don't know if the LN/manga made it less pointless, but back then it got used when firing lasers was enough and he promptly lost it after this fight anyway. Plus, it's so out of character for how he normally behaves.

If by losing it you mean it gets absorbed, alongside Gluttony, into Beelzebub, then yeah, it happens immediately after this.

Yes, that's what I mean. It goes away and is never used again.

Well damn, Rimuru really went to town on those guys. Mind, they got what was coming to them, but still, it's shocking to see someone like Rimuru become so merciless.

I liked when the King tried to cow Rimuru with a speech only to lose a hand for his trouble.

Spotlight-Stealing Squad captain summoned. Just a matter of time before he and his minions succeed in devouring the story.

I actually forgot Diablo was due for summoning now. I guess he just didn't leave much of an impression on me.

I did too tbh. Like now that he's here it's like "Oh yeah, that guy did show up about now. ...Why did the author give him so much screen time again?"

Taking both words for it, but is it possible for you two to explain how bad it gets?

Diablo is just kinda... there. I don't remember him doing much beyond being Rimmuru hype-man and occasionally stomping someone.

Then again I don't remember any of Rimmuru subordinates aside from the Oni squad. They were the ones who got all the love from the author.

I'd probably add Gobuta as well, but yeah, that's been my view as well up til this point which why I was asking. If the stomp this chapter is any indication, this is going to be a drag.

Diablo's job is to be Rimuru's strongest minion. He gets his own quirky minions later who also eat up a lot of screen time. As Rimuru's strongest minion it's his job to get in a fight every ten minutes or so whereas after awhile the onis don't actually do much anymore. Though Benimaru or whatever does beat Diablo in a fight through plot power but that's about it, I think.

The problem with everything Arha's stuff is that it's dated info(like...WAY dated) from the WN that really isn't pertinent anymore.

The tournament arc is completely revamped with none of the top brass taking part in it anymore and several characters get further fleshed out with their own plot bits and fights later on along with their own plot lore.

I'm familiar with the broad strokes, but have not really delved into the finer details to avoid spoiling myself.

Okay, then I guess Diablo never loses a fight and just remains a spotlight hogging curb stomper until the end. Or maybe in the LN he worfs to whoever the new villain was. They replaced the loser from the WN with someone less boring, right?

[up][up] Aww, those were some of my favorite fights, especially Shion's. Shame they cut them out.

They get changed up for some new ones. The entire arc was reworked from the ground it seems.

Edit: [up][up] Are you ever not condescending about thing along with backhanded "compliments" since that's basically been your post history for most of this thread.
