Discussion still going? Here are a few hot takes I stole from people who better write shit that I made into a MAL blog post.

The second one is by a friend of mine and includes some shade thrown at Shield Hero free of charge.

Additionally, the goblins' only known method of reproduction is impregnating females from other species. They literally can not exist without raping women of other species (well, unless there are women with very strange fetishes, but even then, they would hardly consent to living under those circumstances). The orcs in Lot R had no such needs (though I do believe that Tolkien gave us different explanations how orcs were originally created), so a peaceful coexistence should be theoretically possible of both sides were willing.
Goblins, as presented in GS are little more than parasites like the Guinea worm in the real world. They exist by causing human suffering and there has been so far no solution how they might coexist without said suffering. Their eradication would instead improve the life of everyone involved.
Personally, I would enjoy the story more if there were female goblins as well, because that would add a layer of grey to the actions of the protagonist. The other adventures only take on goblins for a reward, which means that those goblins already caused some damage, thus making it a case of self-defence. GS is the only one who goes out of his way to eradicate all goblins, even without a reward. Thus him exteeminating a nest that has not attacked anyone could have been a good sign for his ruthlessness. Alas, that is evidently not the story the author wants to tell.

x3 Okay, now I feel the need to ask: why are you still here?
You very clearly hate this series and you haven't done anything aside from copy-pasting other people without so much as bothering to summarize their points. Most of which aren't even knew: it's all stuff people were already talking about when the anime was airing.
You'd probably be a happier person by simply ignoring the existence of this series.
MAL is a review agreggator site: whenever people post there they tend to do when their head is a bit hot, so to speak.
Point being try not to judge them so harshly. Most people there are probably way nicer elsewhere.

He doesn't do that though. He takes on Goblin Extermination jobs. He doesn't do it for free.
And the only reason anyone even finds out about a Goblin Nest is because an attack happened. Goblins don't just mind their own business.
Disgusted, but not surprisedThe SOL stuff is necessary because if the series was literally only goblin slaying, all the time, it would get exhausting quickly.
Pacing, you see.
Besides, Goblin Slayer's primary arc is him letting go of his obsession a bit and learning how to enjoy life more, so the author needs to show what the man has been losing by hyperfocusing on his crusade for so long and how he unintentionally makes himself miserable.
@Aquaconda
This got brought up a few times that if you just went ahead and sanded off the edgelord crap and upped the campiness, it would actually be pretty good. Like, a sort of inverse of "Goblin is Very Strong" or something.
I like the combat because of its Punisher-esque nature of seeing the protag abusing the rules to massacre stuff in imaginative ways.
It reminds of that writing advice Brandon Sanderson (of Mistborn fame) once said: "solving a problem with magic should only be done if the audience understands that magic".
Well, Goblin Slayer's ruleset is about as simple as it gets.
Reminds me a bit of the early days of Naruto, before the series deteriorated into "whoever makes the biggest explosion wins".
Which can be fun, mind you. Just not the way Naruto did it.

Chapter 43 is up. The previous group of adventurers tried to siege the goblins, which is a bizarre tactical choice and bled a lot of supplies from the town. And it looks like a goblin who survived a previous raid kept an arrow he was shot with and has taught this nest how to make better ones.
Writing a post-post apocalypse LitRPG on RR. Also fanfic stuff.I mean, it's not my favorite, but I enjoy it well enough. I haven't even bothered to watch the anime.
And I've posted here before.

Clearly Goblin slayer is a commentary of the struggles of Cro Magnon versus Neanderthal man
This is an outrage against Luminara!
