Pretty much yeah.

Wasn't even that hard flirting, just some pretty light stuff.

I didn't even notice he was supposed to be flirting.

Light flirting in the context can be better than hard one though.

But hard flirting shows actual intent.

Light can just mean your fucking with the person.

Him quite possibly a thing with a droid is definitely a thing, but for the humans in the cast he only has flirtations.

He's also a bit less of a major character than previously anticipated: not quite up to protagonist level, and arguably more of an antagonist.

[up]I'm genuinely curious, what would proper representation look like to you? I feel like I keep seeing you outraged on nearly every thread you're on, so what would be the best way for Star Wars to handle a LGBTQA+ related character?

Again, I'm not trying to sound facetious, I just want to hear your thoughts.

Have a character who says they're queer, is shown in a queer romance, isn't portrayed overly negatively or villainously, and doesn't die. Same stuff as straight romances in nearly every blockbuster movie. That's about it.

Literally every single word of this. Have Lando shown in a relationship or something, have him mention he was in a relationship with a guy, I dunno, something that isn't a crumb.

I mean really, was Han's romance with what's her name really needed?

That's what disapoints me, out of all the possible motivations they could have given Han, they went with "He's doing it for his girl." I could not take this relationship seriously knowing that she doesn't even hold a 100 fiddles to Leia.

They could have just not done a romance or Hell just give it someone else but no the main protagonist always has to have a love interest even though this main protagonist is already in one of the most iconic & beloved couplings of all time.

It's a damn waste of time & resources really.

The set-up is definitely trite and textbook, and more than a little eye-rolly - especially after seeing Deadpool 2, which also unabashedly uses a very basic "female as prize" concept.

That said, I wouldn't agree with her being a waste of time. When she actually enters the plot, she quickly becomes more than just that plotline personified: Qi'ra and her own personal arc is one of the major plots of the film and it's direct juxtaposition with Han's own is one of the movies' stronger themes.

They definitely could have done it with the two of them being close partners in crime / comrades who grew to trust each other in a horrible situation, rather than an obligatory romance, but the overall of that plot arguably still needs to be there in some way.

True, she definitely starts being more interesting when she's not the object of Han's affections.

I cringed at every single one of their romantic moments because of how eye-rolling it all is.

Also, this movie kind of makes me want a Leia movie, so we can complete the set. A Han movie, a Leia movie, and of course the Luke movie that started it all.

On an unrelated note, is it just me or is Darth Maul kind of becoming the Breakout Villain of the non-main line stories? If they do make that Boba movie, I almost wouldn't be surprised if he shows up in that.

I quite liked Qi'ra (apart from that spelling of her name, which I've only just noticed :) ); at the beginning, she's just the damsel in distress to give the hero a reason to go along with the plot, but you can see later on that she's done better for herself, in a way, than Han has, but that it's not going to end well.

I don't know how much of L337's "robot rights" thing was scripted and how much was ad-libbed; the "do you want anything?" "equal rights" line was an ad-lib, some of the Kessel scene might have been too.

Movie review Solo: A Star Wars Story

In the fourth year of the Disney era of Star Wars, the hugely polarizing reception of The Last Jedi (Which I still declare it one of the best.) made many fans worried about how the future of Star Wars will roll, especially with the new film involving one of the most iconic characters of the franchise that won't be played by Harrison Ford. All around we heard many things; Nobody wanting this and that it will be another wreck of the franchise from the "SJW" Disney "regime". Well, by released today, while I can totally agree that it may not be part of the best films of the saga, it's still a good film of his own caliber, exploring parts of the characters that bring a certain light of his actions in the originals and how more of the Galaxy outside war.

Pros: Spot on acting from Alden and Donald as Han Solo and Lando Calrissian and other actors like Emilia Clarke and Woody Harrelson, good action scenes, well-made special effects, interesting and enjoyable side characters in the latter half, great soundtrack, pleasant surprise from a classic character of the franchise that I won't tell. Cons: Plot feels very simplistic in nature, the romance between Han and Qi'ra feels forced because we know who he ends with, generic villain, Han's personality and motives aren't explored enough.

Verdict: 7.5

So rest easy fans, this film won't harm much of your expectations compared to TLJ. Still, judge it on your own right.

My review of Solo:

It's Han Solo, I guess. Hooray?

7/10. There's nothing objectionable, but there's not much to really cheer about it. It just kinda is. Standout is Dong Lover as Lando, who brings enthusiasm to a role in an otherwise rote and ho-hum sort of film.

Kinda off-topic, but what's the difference between bisexual and pansexual?

Bisexual usually implies one preference over the other while pansexual is usually free grabs for anyone, I think? Trust me, some LGBT people are still fuzzy on the distinction too.
