Yeah, I'd cut it. Even the most recent poll comic acknowledged that the problem is that Team Forte keep being pitted against main characters despite not having a major appearance for years.

Does anyone actually read these?

Additionally, right above that is a Rescued From The Scrappy Heap entry that cites Forte Drums' rising votes through the popularity polls that, again, I think misses the point of the Scrappy-related tropes.

Yeah. These sound like non-examples. Though you can run them by The Scrappy Cleanup Thread if you want a somewhat official verdict.

Okay I have a weird general question. I am wondering if there is a trend of Pink haired Magical Girls and Blue Haired Magical girls romantic pairings, moslty cause of recent development here and certain developments in the Soon the be canceled (in NA) Magia Record game.

Like is there a pattern with these two works or am I seeing things?

More germane discussion: Do you think Cassidy's death will have some immediate ramifications?

Pink and blue are always two colors that tend to go together in romantic works. And Pink Magical Girls, when not paired with their own Homuras, tend to go with the blue ones as well in most anime.

As for your second question, that depends entirely on how soon people will start noticing that she's not showing up anywhere. The last time anyone saw her was in the club, this is the morning after, and we don't know her family situation, so I'd expect anywhere between the end of classes and the morning after the one we're seeing now.

[up] Okay so it is a trend, Wonder if we have that as a trope because if we do, then we might have to add that to Kokoro and Undine's character sheets here and Iroha and Yachiyo's sheets in the Magireco pages.

Back to the latest casualty. I kinda think that even depends on if her has a good attendance record as well. If she has a noticed streak of absences, then the amount of time it takes for her death to be known would be longer (like a week at least)

Hm, off the top of my head the most iconic magical girl ships I can think of are Nanoha/Fate (white-wearing redhead with black-wearing blonde), Madoka/Homura (pink with black/white), Uranus and Neptune (blonde wearing dark blue/teal), and Minto/Zakuro (blue/purple).

So, from my perspective, I don't see it.

[up] Fair point, but the Heterosexual version does exist. though, so homosexual equvalents are also likely by proxy (especially when blue is also feminine)

Outside of the aforementioned...no. Hence my query asking if this was a trend or not.

Yeah, I not sure I see a pattern either. Is the Magia Record development between the two main characters? If so, I think it is more to do with them being the "Madoka and Homura" than anything else. And Homura is not blue haired. I think it is more of a trend of having a warm/light colored girl with a cold/dark colored girl.

Incidentally, I've been hearing a lot of Cube's podcast, Anime Slushie. She talks a lot about magical girls there, specially comparing to Madoka, but sometimes referring to Sleepless Domain. It is fun, I recommend. (I do'nt think she ever mentioned that trend either, but she is quick to point out all the Madoka/Homura-like pairings)

I think blue and pink mostly shows up in less good MG works that only tease the relationship without actually commiting. Yuki Yuna does it, Vividred does (sorta, the main girl is supposed to be red, but it's kinda ambiguous), Pleiades does it, Granbelm does it, and Daybreak Illusion does it cheatily because one of the pair is purple as a Magical Girl but blue as a civilian.

[up][up]The game is a spinoff of Madoka, but like other such spinoffs focuses on meguca that aren't Madoka. Namely Pink-haired Iroha Tamaki, The Blue-haired Yachiyo Nanami does have elements of both Homura and Mami. That said the Game's twist also means that Iroha herself, in a non-romantic light, has elements of Hormura as well. The two protagonists of the game do still have a lot of Les Yay and parent-coding though, but that would be better discussed on the Madoka thread if you're interested.

[up][down] So, there is a trend...among mediocre MG works?

Seconding Heatth's recommendation of Cube's podcast Anime Slushie, by the way. It's good stuff.

[up][up][up]Several of those feel more like they're following the Black Hair/Pink Hair trend Madoka popularized.

Oh, they absolutely are. Most of those girls are Homura expies. They're still mostly blue in terms of outfits, though. Like [up][up][up]mentioned above, it seems to be a trend amongst the more mediocre ones to have the Homura character be blue instead of purple, presumably to both invite the comparison but still have plausible deniability that you're outright copying it. Much like a lot of the pink ones in that list also double as red.

Sleepless Domain itself not being one such example, of course. I don't think there's any way to compare Undine to Homura.

It would indeed be incredibly surprising.

I do wonder what was Gabby's thing with Cassidy as well. Maybe Cassidy made some cutting remark about her as well?

Lovecraftian, there's no way it'll take more time than the end of classes for them to notice Cassidy's gone. When she doesn't show up for first period, the teacher will report that so someone can start calling her home, safety centers, hospitals, wherever. Shouldn't take more than an hour or two for them to start panicking.

Man, those poor teachers. There's no way the fact that they're doing a death tally every morning is lost on them.

There's no reason they couldn't just assume Cassidy is skipping class, especially after word of her argument with the club comes to light. It's when people find out that her parents don't know where she is either that things could start getting bad. Either way, it should take at least until the end of classes for the school to start getting worried, and the girls would probably only hear about that by the time the school could confirm she's nowhere to be found, so the girls would hear about it on the day after. At best, they'd hear about it if tonight if it's a club night.

Maybe, but the fourth-wall girl pointed out that part of the point of making the girls go to school is so that people will notice when they go missing. They will definitely be aware of the possibility that she died.

There is some black comedy in they Alt Text.

Random wild mass guess: Gabby, like Vedika, actually has a non-combat power, in her case precognition, that gave her a heads up to warn Undine.

But if she were precognitive, would Undine have been the one she'd warn?
