For anyone wondering where Sohla is, she now has her own Tv cooking show....on The History Channel!

It's called Ancient Recipes where Sohla cook recipes from ancient times. Here's two videos from her show.

Yeah, I was thinking "Oh, that's cool!" when I saw it on the History Channel's You Tube page.

I was kind of wondering if there was going to be another season of Stump Sohla now that she has a book deal and Off Script is a thing and I guess now this one, or if it's just mission accomplished, time to find the next featured chef to occupy the basement studio.

Ugh, the Fifties and their obsession with gelatin and butter.

Why was that trend even a thing I wonder.

Easy access to refrigeration and a new variety of foofstuffs for the first time, as well as an expectation that housewives would rarely cook the same thing twice! I think maybe there was a leap forward in canning tech too? Anyway, they had a lot of new things to try and a lot of demand for new and impressive recipes.

It didn't matter if it tasted good, it matters that it was a new adventure that kept the lady of the house busy and buying.

Gelatin also had an aura of being modern and efficient. Everything you use to make gelatin cleans easily. So you're making something hip and modern and future age. And like said, Fridges had long been a status symbol, so foods that need one were thus fancy and desirable.

Huh, never would of guessed gelatin had that sort of history to it much less that the elaborate hodgepodge of food there was a commentary on how the times back then were.

Then again, from what I've read on the trope page Deliberate Values Dissonance is in full swing for WandaVision so maybe it isn't surprising to others. All I know is those potatoes look good.

Oh definitely. Potatoes are freaking awesome twice fried/baked/etc.

That's how I love to make my home fries. First I put in a microwave and then I fry them.

I think the routine is twice a week, one Binging and then one Basics.

Yeah. That has always been the release schedule barring something happening at the time.

Speaking of which, tried his cold fermented pizza dough. Interesting. I was worried I had messed it up. It came out smelling STRONGLY of fermentation. Tasted the raw dough and it was honestly kinda awful. Overwhelming fermented funk (vaguely alcohol-like bitterness).

Thankfully once cooked the dough looses the smell and the taste. And yeah, does made a genuine difference. It's a very chewy dough.

Why would you taste raw dough.

Why not is a better question. It's flour salt water and yeast. Aint gonna kill me.
