Alicia Goranson and David Galecki are back.
The entirety of the last season has been retconned. The new show goes back to basics. Darlene married David and Becky married Mark. Darlene is home taking care of her folks and Becky and DJ have moved on with their lives.
First Full House. Then Twin Peaks. Then Boy Meets World. Now Roseanne.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Okay, saw the first two episodes.
- This is clearly Sara Gilbert's show and Roseanne Barr is basically either going on with the fact they're making fun of Trump supporters (like her) or just misses the fact Roseanne Connor is an idiot for the fact she supports him in-show.
- I'm kind of sad they killed off Mark off-screen but, well, that happens.
- Dan using a sleep apnia machine brought back memories of my dad. Random note.
- This is a very political show but does realistically reflect real life issues.
- Becky's surrogacy isn't actually a surrogacy. I'm also fairly sure it would be highly illegal if not for the fact, again, Becky is lying about her age to the point it'd be impossible to actually conceive.
- I like DJ being in the army to escape poverty. It fits even if he's barely got anything to do. Also, a biraccial kid not even commented on.
- The cast is very very good at all this.

Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters.A long time ago they did a skit or a written blurb about this stuff. Years ago. And that's exactly what they did. They mentioned him becoming a scientist or actor or something, and marrying a girl half his age.
I'd say this is just mean spirited, but I've seen the show. I could totally see poodle head doing that. (for those who don't remember, that was Jackie's nick name for David.) I'll probably check this out at some point, but I might catch the whole original show first. I've seen a good chunk of episodes when the rest of the family wasn't controlling the TV, but I doubt I've seen them all.
So... What's everyone's thoughts on this week's Roseanne? I enjoyed it a lot.
"My light shall be the moon, and my path the ocean, my guide the morning star as I sail home to you...."I'm amused that my Youtube searches for this show come up like this:
- Fox News "Hollywood liberals slam new Roseanne revival."
- MSNBC "Roseanne and President Trump have similar strongholds."
- TODAY "The cast is grateful to be back."
- Fox News "Gutfield: Roseanne has Hollywood shaking in their reboots."
- CNN "Roseanne Barr under fire for conspiracy tweets."
- Goodmorning America "Roseanne star on his gender non-conforming character;" "Roseanne watch parties held across the country"
When I was a kid and this show was on Nick at Nite, I didn't know why the episode where Jackie's husband was beating her was so out of the norm, but I recognized it. I remember episodes like when Dan and Roseanne proudly and sarcastically called themselves white trash, and when Dan had the heart attack of course, and when Dan was in jail, and when the fourth wall would shatter
. This show could really whiplash you if you weren't paying attention. I remember more than a few tense moments between Darlene and Becky, Jackie's worsening domestic issues, DJ locking himself in his room, etc.
So, yeah, I guess that's true
. I think this show had more Very Special Episode's than Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, The Nanny, Full House, and Grounded For Life combined. The only show I remember that gave me similar pause was Boy Meets World.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!The 3rd episode of the revival is something that strikes me out of the norm. Roseanne Connor, notably, had a nervous breakdown when she spanked DJ. This due to the fact she had been physically abused as a child.
So, her talking about spanking cavalierly is a bit off.
It's not like it was a minor plotpoint either.

Ahh, I remember seeing that episode where Roseanne spanks DJ in reruns. Must be a kinda small plot hole. :/

"My light shall be the moon, and my path the ocean, my guide the morning star as I sail home to you...."Alright. Finally on the first episode.
Unforutnately the previews spoiled almost every joke in here, and the only part that got me going was the dinner scene.
But I do love the fact that both Becky's are here. And (irrelevant of any long-standing crushes on Sara Gilbert) Darlene is still the best Connor.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!I think the "Go Cubs" episode where Roseanne learns a very special lesson of "All Muslims aren't terrorists" is a episode which was never going to please everybody. The simple fact is that Roseanne is being stupid and ignorant in assuming her neighbors are terrorists (when they're refugees from Yemen) but the show knows that. However, the people who already know Muslims aren't terrorists are just seeing Roseanne give legitimacy to that.
But, honestly, it seems clear a lot of Americans DO need to be told this message.

American Dad already did this episode ten years ago. If people haven't leaned it by now, I don't think they ever will.
Hmm, the Roseanne thread's updated in my watchlist. Been awhile I should really get back to- watching that, I only caught the first episode-

Is it too late to replace her with Ashton Kutcher?

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!The joke about “black and Asian families being just like us” is finally made funny because now they aren’t like Roseanne’s family as in they’re still in production.
Also apparently they’ve been pulling the repeats from other channels too, her cast mates are going to be very upset with her.

Yeah, her career's over. Agency dropped her, cast mates disavowed her, and the only cast here who probably won't be too hurt by this are John Goodman and Laurie Metcalf (who's apparently led quite a successful career prior to this; the last time I saw her was in Scream 2).
Everybody else though is probably taking her off the Christmas cake list, if she was ever on it.
I almost feel bad for her.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!

They're back.
