[up][up][up]Well, I've been enjoying it. The whole "midseason" break thing still seems off to me, though.

I'm at Episode 11. This show is much easier to enjoy in one sitting.

Don Paragon is a riot ("This guy, hah, seriously, guards, this guy, dungeon, now"). Red Manuel is a waste of space. Nomad is too pure for this world. Like Trigun, episode 1 sets up the cast, the next 4-5 episodes color a few characters but can be skipped, and the plot starts getting interesting in episode 6-7.

I can't tell if Scout and Toth's relationship is totally platonic and I'm weighing that on not knowing how old Scout is note

I'm guessing that Scout and the little girl from The Wizard and the Knight are one in the same, and at some point the little girl's plan was to infiltrate Paragon's fortress, but she somehow had her memory wiped - we see her do that to Nomad - but the question is how that happened. I can't imagine Paragon figuring out the plot and keeping Scout around. So maybe the little girl pulled a Batman Gambit and expected "Scout" to worm her way into the Don's good graces, getting closer to King El Rey.

And so the season comes to an end. Not a bad finale. I should probably try binging the season to see how it all flows together.

Just remembered this series recently and got through the second half of episodes (I think I last left off on the undertaker ep). Main reason I'm bumping this thread, though, is I was watching a review of episode ten (the backstory ep) and it brought up an interesting thought.

In the ep the Nomad and Melinda come across a town where El Rey took a supposed witch planning to run off and live with the elves. The reviewer pointed out something I'd never have thought about myself: Going by Toth, Null, and the old woman in the castle, the Y'dala all have pointed ears. The Y'dala are the elves. Whether they're actual elves or "elves" is just a slur towards them is up in the air. The reviewer goes with slur.

Huh, I didn't notice all the Yudala had pointy ears.

Season 2!!!

That's what you're going to see when they announce it! Any day now... any day...

Come on Rooster Teeth. Too many unanswered questions, don't X-Ray and Vav this.

Apparently, Miles referred to Skout as LGBT on Reddit, so I'm guessing it's not supposed to be all that platonic on her end at least; I doubt Toth reciprocates, though. (As for the hatnote, though, playing devil's advocate, you could argue it's the Mildly Military equivalent of calling the teacher "mom.")

...although I agree that this show doesn't seem to have the first idea what it wants. Again they've made something relatively G-rated, with what very much feels like a Saturday morning sensibility (granted, the realistic guns and occasional bloody corpse wouldn't thrill actual TV censors, but relatively), but... why? RWBY's younger fanbase was basically a screw-up, and the last time RT went out of their way to make something suitable for younger viewers, right out the gate they made a running gag of, at least by analogy, a male centerfold's penis. There's nothing in the advertising to suggest this would be suitable for younger viewers, either, but not just the relatively clean content, but setups like the "near-sighted bandits" and the uncritical presentation of Skout and Nomad's optimism make me wonder who else it could be for.

My posts make considerably more sense read in the voice of John Ratzenberger.

Maybe it's less a demographic thing and more a "this sounds cool, let's do this!" thing. In other words they did it because they wanted to, not because they were appealing to anyone in particular.
