Yeah I'll just go with an about 35 / 40 year old Hans, who is dealing with being a single dad of two. Anyone who wants to make his kids can do so.

"Okay Hans, up and at em. Yeah, you're still good looking..." Fuuuuck...grey hairs already...

[up][up] Fair enough. Outside nerfing the best I can think of is maybe he had near infinite attack & defense and in the fight against the evil god (who i'm just going to be calling Bob for now) Asriel was one of the more direct fighters. But Bob's DETERMINATION was greater even then and destroyed a lot of Asriel's godly power and nearly killed him. He's still strong but not like he used to be.

By the way, how many "original generation" characters are we allowed to make? My idea is that one of the SOU Ls goat boy has now belonged to someone who left a kid sidekick behind. Now he feels compelled to keep an eye on him/her even now when they are grown up.

Anyone willing to work with me on this please let me know.

Oh, so it wasn't a human-shaped god. One of those.

Nominating Reiuji "Okuu" Utsuho for one of the former characters, who didn't so much leave as she was booted off the planet by everyone else after her well-intentioned attempt to create a sun to keep the stranded survivors alive resulted in the Purple Sun, a blue giant star whose proximity with the dead god turned it purple and caused it to emit unnatural radiation. Feeling that a literal and figurative bird-brain with the power to create and snuff out suns at will was perhaps not the safest of neighbors, she was hurriedly stuffed into the closest multiversal portal they could find.

Food is provided by farming in the god's skin and hunting the local wildlife, both of which have greatly accelerated lifecycles due to the sun's radiation.

I'm against involving Utsuho, just as a general principle, but that's beside the point.

But as we're on the subject, I'm considering playing either Jo'on Yorigami or Keine Kamishirasawa as a city official, or an OC taking some inspiration from one or both of those characters.

Specifically a fiscal and/or administrative position.

Question: if the decomposing skin of the god only approximates dirt, then what are all the buildings made of? Either there's a great gash somewhere that goes straight down to the bone, or everything is imported from other dimensions, or the buildings are magic(!). Can we have flora? A local ecology?

I propose that the fat of the god is surprisingly fecund, and when spread out has been found to increase crop productivity by an alarming amount. The keratin of the god is nigh-indestructible, but efforts are still underway to harness his nails and hair for structural and military purposes. There is an entire guild known as the Theographers' Society, whose duty is to discover and catalogue everything known about the god. This might include the flora and fauna, the anatomigraphical features, the physical dimensions, the works.

Can we give him a name? Balder, perhaps?

At any rate, my character is the son of Matt Murdock and Toph Beifong. He's blinder than a bat, of course, but he's inherited both his father's supersenses and his mother's ability to Earthbend. This may or may not be helpful on a corpse with no actual earth, but bending causes him great pain - since both his radar sense and seismic sense stack, he is extremely sensitive to just about everything, including giant chunks of rock that fly through the air. He tends to be extremely meek and timid, as a result, despite both his parents' attempts to train him.

I presume there's some sort of schooling in the City, and that children aren't allowed outside in the Naked Wilds, otherwise known as the uncultivated mass of the god's skin.

(Perhaps the City has a great dome over it, that filters the sky to make it seem blue. Is the light of the Purple Sun actively harmful? If so, has anyone found a way to screen it out? Is Vitamin D deficiency a thing? Maybe Zeppelli Jr. can help there.)

Just throwing out an idea; would the original group have made home on the god-planet's skin, or would they have gone inside his body for the natural shelter and then built up from there?

I can imagine that the original group ended up collecting a variety of foods to keep them going on their initial journey, so any of those with seeds would have been re-purposed to try and get a rudimentary farm going on the god-planet.

Anyway, yes, my idea for the child was a person who was highly disillusioned with their 'celebrity' parents- Akane because of her negligence, Guzma because everyone expects the kid to follow in his footsteps and become someone influential in the society, even though all they really want to do is find their own path in life (whatever life one can have in the city they live in).

The main reason I went with six characters is because that's practically an Arc Number in the Bionicle Canon, with the main elemental powers being a group of six, and pretty much any group of heroic/significant characters or species coming in six to match those powers. Vezon might gravitate towards that reasoning, or he might just go with it for shits and giggles.

I've managed to idly brainstorm what these characters might end up being, or at least starting off as. Obviously, these would also be impacted by whichever poor saps Vezon decided to steal a personality trait from. Then again, 'three' is also kind of an arc number in canon, so if you think it's necessary, I could whittle and compile these archetypes down.

  • The one dressed in the colour of Air would have enough of the original's memories to inherit Vezon's more harmlessly eccentric quirks. Nosy, talkative and easily amused, but might dip into more human ideas of hedonism.
  • The one wearing the colour of Stone would have Vezon's anti-authoritarian streak, along with the brutish, barbarian traits associated with Vezon's original species, though without any real vicious or even proactive intent. Patient as a brick, allergic to actual work, but always up for a good roughhousing.
  • The one wearing the colour of Fire would have Vezon's more dangerous psychotic traits, like seeing things you know there ain't. They'd also be prone to fighting, but always steering close to rabid fury.
  • The one clothed in the colour of Ice would embody Vezon's delusions of grandeur. They'd be haughty, aloof for its own sake, and always having a particular sneer for specific situations.
  • The one least like the others, wearing the colour of Water. They'd represent Vezon's interest in learning morality and making friends, traits that never developed until after he ventured outside his world and got involved in crossover events. Kinder, more in touch with their emotions, and often wishing they were more like anyone else. This one is probably the best candidate for my Main, being a very Steven-Universe-type.
  • Finally, clad in the colour of Earth, is a secretive and enigmatic creature indeed. They're the living incarnation of Vezon's cunning, his avarice, his most sinister of qualities. It's possible they retained more memories of Vezon than any other, but if they did, then they're not telling. They wouldn't want anyone taking their precious secrets away...

I have no idea why, but I feel like aging up a few characters that were in their teens when they were either part of the Orginal Generation, or if they came in right after.

  • Monika: As part of the Original Generation, Monika never fought on the front lines. Instead, she worked tech, with help from Tony Stark. She originally only knew how to delete people from existence, but she soon learned other skills that helped her with both tech in-universe, as well as manipulating the world itself to help with construction and development of materials and tools. It took a while, but she got over Player-Chan, considering them as a very close friend rather than a love. Currently single, mid-30s.

  • Okuyasu Nijimura: Okuyasu was not part of the OG, but rather he was teleported there as part of the second wave incoming. He trained as a sort of soldier/defender and trained his Stand, The Hand, to where he can now store what he has erased and bring it back out. Mid-30s.

Plus other ideas, but I ran outta time atm.

So, I'm mostly a lurker on the Forums but I'm interested. Do we have to go with canon characters? Or can I use an OC?

@Toko: Unless you know any canon characters from different series with a canon love-child, I think OCs are fine. XP

So far as newcomers to this city goes, I'm putting my stake in for BOTW Link. He'd be ideal for both a new lawful good enforcer of justice and a great explorer in case anyone wants to try some expeditions into/around this god-planet. It's not like they'd have scouted out everything on the planet in just thirty years, right?

Now for what I'd guess would be my main character. Thought I'd bring back one of my favorites that I just can't seem to get in an RP that lasts longer than 3 months. I'll be playing "Mr. Scratch" from Alan Wake's American Nightmare.

As one of the original heroes/villains summoned to combat the evil god, Mr. Scrath would've gained a rather infamous reputation as one of those charming, intellectual, two-faced, "in it for himself" types of villains. Out of that first band of merry men, he would've been considered one of the most despicable due his power to "take" people with weak wills (a.k.a. NP Cs not closely related to any P Cs, further nerfs pending) and use them as his puppets. The effects are generally temporary, since his ability to create more Taken has been crippled in this new environment. Besides, since darkness is his tool, its antithesis cancels it out with ease.

So as one of those veterans on the goody-goodies' black list, Mr. Scratch befriended some of the neutral or downright evil abductees, including Envy. The Homunculus' "flip off the world" attitude was amusing, but that didn't stop Scratch from ratting Envy out to the other heroes when two of their number wound up dead. Mr. Scratch also pitched the idea to use the Homunculus' stone as the first source of power in the city, since Envy had told him about that little secret when he believed they were thick as thieves. By the time a new source of energy was found in the planet, the more Lawful Good veterans thought it'd be better to switch to a more humane source of power, and just leave Envy incarcerated. Scratch made no comment.

Since the planet with the Purple Sun is naturally darker than the Earth he came from, Mr. Scratch is perfectly happy to live on the god-planet forever. He spent his time and growing resources to establish an entertainment district in the city, managing a nightclub called "The Cauldron" as a front for his growing underground empire.

On top of his ability to create Taken (temporary or not), I'd also like to keep Scratch's ability to bend aspects of reality, given the canonical dedication to details and commitment to the preestablished rules. He's more of a summoner than an actual fighter, but whether you're dealing with his minions or the man himself, bright lights are their Kryptonite. The best way keep Mr. Scratch from harming you is to—both literally and figuratively—put a spotlight on him.

I've come up with an idea for an OC that comes from canon monsters. My idea is that when the original group of characters were questing to kill the god, there was an unlucky Chimera Ant Queen that was drawn in as well. She was forced to stay out of sight of the party, unable to really eat anything due to being too weak to really take anything. Along the course of the adventure, the party managed to take out a Beholder along the way, and after they moved on, the queen ate its corpse to gain its genetic material. Sometime after that she probably ate some of the fallen party members (Maybe the ones Envy took out) and settled down to start laying eggs. She managed to lay one before the party found her nest and killed her, but were unaware of the egg.

Left on its own, the egg hatched into a human/beholder/insect mix that was left to develop on its own. Without really any prey to focus on, it wouldn't have any reason to view humans with hostility. The thing that I believe it would cling to and define its self with would probably be Religion, only one that is centered around the dead god that this takes place on. Its view is that in death the god became the benefactor for life while the other gods abandoned them. It is probably currently trying to get a church.

I've collected ideas from here, my own mind and convos with other players to form this.

The Planet

  • As established previously, the god was a massive being, capable of easily changing its body to fit whatever needs it had. The fight between the original warriors and the god ended when it was destroyed from the inside thanks to a combination of magical and mechanical powers. After dying, the god immediately began curling up into a ball (due to pressure from gravity) and so began a small period where the corpse became the planet.
    • Suggested name for the god: Balder.
  • During this period, the god's skin (known as the crust) began to shift and change, taking on a more dirt-like material. At the same time, rigor mortis, combined with half-completed transformations, created what became the mountains and valleys of the planet. All of this shifting and changing affected his insides as well, with several blood vessels popping and bursting through the skin, creating the rivers and oceans of the planet (the water here is a clean light green and is far too salty for normal consumption).
  • Also, bacteria and fungi that once resided within the god's body burst through the skin, and began rapidly evolving thanks to exposure to the purple Sun. The flora covers most of its body, is colored light orange, and is also mostly harmless (save for the occasional carnivorous trees). As for the fauna, well, I haven't had any suggestions for that, but I imagine there are a lot of meaty animals out there for people to hunt, maybe even domesticate?
  • At the same time, all around the corpse-planet, random cosmological phenomena began occurring. These took the form of portals, rifts in time and space through which other beings of the multiverse could either walk through (a sign they came to the planet willingly) or fall through (a sign they came to the planet unwillingly). Though someone currently on the planet could walk back through the portal, their random nature (and the fact no portal has led to the same place twice) caused some of the warriors to disappear and never return.
  • It's planet sized but not perfectly planet shaped. That is to say that whilst it has the form of an oblate, the lower parts of the planet do not exist (since the god's body never really formed a perfect circle) and as such, if one were to fly all the way down there, they'd find a perfect path into the core of the planet... which was once the evil god's heart.
  • The corpse-planet resides in a galaxy bathed by an ethereal purple Sun that has been there since before time began. Although this Sun is similar to the Earth's Sun in many aspects (avoiding a Vitamin D deficiency), its unusual color and even more unusual radiation rays have affected the god's body in many ways (like the previously mentioned fauna/flora). It has also caused the god's heart to become a molten external planet core.
  • Resources available:
    • The god's blood (water) - in rivers, oceans, or in subterranean waterways (the god's veins). The planet's flora and fauna can consume the god's blood without the need for filtration.
    • The god's broken bones - can be used as construction material (one only has to dig them up, beat them into a mash and boil them to create a cement-like material that dries up quickly). Can be found inside mountains or sprouting out of valleys.
    • The god's unbroken bones - can be found deep within his body.
    • The god's fat - can be used as a highly productive fuel. Can also be used in agriculture as a fertilizer.

The Galaxy

  • There are other planets in the same galaxy as the planet-corpse. Through contact with them, the original warriors managed to gain additional resources, as well as other materials necessary for building the actual city.

The City

  • There has been five waves of settlers: the original warriors (have been here for 35 years), the first settlers (been here 32-33 years), the second wave of settlers (been here 20 years), the third wave of settlers (been here 10 years) and the latest wave of settlers (been here 5 years).
  • For the first few years, the warriors relied on seeds and other food they brought over from their homes/other worlds. Most of their effort was spent on adapting these to this strange new world.
  • Though it existed for a long time through subsistence farming and a barter economy, within the last decade there has been a push towards "growth", which led to the creation of more planned out, 'prettier' neighborhoods and the adoption of a currency, along with a move towards exploiting more of the corpse's resources. The contrast is noticeable: whilst the first neighborhoods are more cobbled together (and populated by poorer citizens), the newer neighborhoods are spread out and well decorated (and populated by richer citizens).
    • The first neighborhoods rely on rudimentary hemo-electric dams and solar cells to power their houses and public buildings (these are new yet still cobbled together, and as such, electricity is considered more of a luxury than a commodity). As for the newer neighborhoods, they use an exclusive power source- Envy's Philosophers Stone- whilst anxiously trying to find a newer, more ever-lasting source of energy.
    • The city as a whole is moving from a Wild West locale, where people just sort of existed together, to a more 'organized' society with a code of laws, amongst others.
  • The city has spaceships used mainly for shipping and transport of people inbetween planets. Citizen access to these ships is extremely limited and prohibitively expensive.
  • The Theographers' Society catalogs every aspect of the god's biology and how it can be used to further the city's interests. This knowledge is kept a secret so as not to encourage autonomous exploration.
  • The areas outside the city are known as the Naked Wilds and are considered extremely dangerous: hence the presence of a protective wall and watchtowers around the outskirts of the city, and the early establishment of a group of voluntary guards to keep watch over the city in exchange for a comfortable life.

The Characters
  • First Wave/Original Warriors (0 AD- after death of the god)
    • Toph Beifong (GMNPC) - brought over
    • Envy (GMNPC) - brought over
    • Mr. Scratch (Theodore Hastings) - brought over
    • Hans Schultz (Nick) - brought over

  • Second Wave (10 AD)
    • Matt Murdock (Troydenite) - brought over

  • Third Wave (20 AD)
    • Franklin Yishan Murdock (Troydenite) - native

  • Fourth Wave (30 AD)

  • Fifth Wave (35 AD- present)
    • BOTW!Link (Theodore Hastings) - brought over

None of these are final. Feel free to opine and add onto them. I'll change the list with your suggestions in my next post, as well as add more to the character list. Here are a few unanswered questions:

  • What is the climate like on the planet?
  • What kind of flora/fauna is there on the planet?
  • What are the other nearby planets like?
  • How exactly were the first few years of the City like?

After that, I think we can decide how the City is today, how it operates, what sort of organizations it has, etc.

@Nick: I feel like I might have thrown a wrench into Hans' age with the idea of generations.

@goldenshark: Wait, the ones who lose their souls stick around? And I'd rather you worked with others instead of coming up with a bunch of characters for you to off- at least, that's what I was thinking, what with the whole 'Asriel takes their souls' thing.

@Chabal: the purple Sun has been there since the start, and I'd rather not have a character who can create a sun.

@whizzerd: I imagine there's a bit of both, and that maybe now that the city is mostly built, the underground parts are shuttered off? Also, I really like Guzma and the idea surrounding her. No pressure.

@Lizard: I mean, if you find players willing to play along with you, six is okay. But if you don't and have to come up with characters, then I'd rather you whittled them down to three.

@Monika: Sorry, what exactly is 'deleting people'? Doesn't sound exactly like the kind of power befitting an RP. tongue But Okuyasu is fine, that big doofus.

@Toko WH: that is up to you.

@Oni-Lord: we haven't gotten around to religion yet, I imagine that's on the next round of brainstorming, so feel free to come up with that one. I definitely like the idea of there being a resurgence of the evil god as a sort of benefactor religious figure, something that the original warriors don't exactly like, especially once the words 'resurrection' keep being thrown around. That, and there's already the pre-established cult of personality around the warriors too, one could do something with that.

[up] No, people who lose their SOU Ls are dead and mostly gone. It's more accurate to say their subconscious are lingering in Asriel's mind. Like he knows how the SOU Ls would feel about a certain thing or person and can influence his decision making from time to time. But they're not awake or aware of what's happening.

My idea is that an adult and child duo was part of the Original Warriors, but the adult died leaving the child alone. Asriel, having the adult's SOUL, feels the care said adult had for the child and takes him/her in and keeps them safe. Maybe Asriel tries to find Balder's SOUL to use it's power to send everyone home, but either he can't find it, it's too strong for him, or it just does not have one. But whatever the case, he fails and settles down on the planet and becomes one if it's protectors and down the line, when the population got bigger, opens an orphanage.

However his reputation among the Original Warriors are... not the best. The good guys still remember him as a sociopathic weed who wants your SOUL, and the bad guys think of him as someone they once got along with but now is a goody two-shoes.

For worldbuilding, one thing I would like to see is that the other planets are not Earth like. Make them as uninviting to humans as your allowed to. Make it so that everyone would like to stay on a giant decaying body that wanted to kill them all, otherwise almost everyone will leave as soon as possible.

So my character is likely to be Jo'on Yorigami, and potentially her sister Shion, if Strat permits me two characters.

The two appeared on the corpse-planet as part of the third expansion wave, but it's only with the transition to a more capitalist economic model that anything became on Jo'on. The economic shift, coupled with the city's effort to be a more proper city, necessitated the founding of the Chancery, a fiscal and administrative institution that exists to collect taxes and in general manage revenue. This is the institution that Jo'on now leads as Chancellor, making her one of the highest ranking officials in the city.

Like every other institution that comprises the city's administration, the Chancery is underdeveloped and it has not expanded much since its founding. There is also, as is typical, friction with other departments. For instance, conflicts with what passes for a Judiciary, regarding if the Chancery has the right to deploy its own agents to deal with tardy payments or if it has to wait for other institutions to handle the matter. Until now the Chancery has just sent its own agents anyway, despite protests.

Her sister Shion has no formal position of any sort, but the two tend to be found together regardless.

Natural disasters:

  • Muscle spasms that cause quakes and floods/droughts from the heartrate changing without warning (the guy in charge of regulating the electrical grid hates us, yeah that won't cause problems in the future).
  • Wounds that were made to the god during the battle and can't heal, forming swamps of pus and other unsanitary locales.
  • Pockets of decomposition gas that vent during mining operations.
  • Solar flares that do horrible things to the genetic code of unshielded flora and fauna.

Wildlife: Upsized parasites. Phagocytes the size of a house, intestinal worms that erupt to the surface when they sense periodic rythms on the surface, maggots that cause sinkholes as they burrow underneath, those lunar-lander-shaped viruses that implant themselves not into cells but humans, etc.

God name: Ego the no-longer-living planet.

Here's an idea: the god isn't so much dead as he is brain-dead, allowing his subconscious functions to continue and provide a stable environment (heartbeat to keep fresh water flowing, temperature, etc.), also allowing the resurrectionists some proof that their dread god lies not dead but dreaming.

lore idea: Even in 35 years, Religious Schisms!

Because of the nature of their chosen deity...in that, they're living on it and a few members were around to see it alive, the nature of that god is hotly debated. The largest two camps are the ones that have probably cooler names than the ones I'm throwing out there, Purists and Dualists.

Purists believe that the dead guy was essentially as is. He's dead, he was undoubtedly the greatest power in existence, and that while he might be out for the moment it's impossible to keep him down. They more firmly believe that the god will resurrect himself, though for what purpose is something even further debated.

Dualists believe that he isn't fully dead. That is, due to cryptic (possibly apochryphal) hints and statements, they believe that the thing they're living on is half of a god, or the personification of evil and darkness within a dual-natured god. The heroes that busted this thang up weren't really killing their deity, more like removing a malignant tumor. They believe the good half will return, and create a much more pleasant world for life to thrive on. Due to the whole hero-chemotherapy thing, they tend to hold the hero-worshipping churches as misguided but well-meaning.

So, for fauna, I could imagine the citizens bringing them over from nearby planets, mixing-and-matching until they could find the proper keystones to form a workable food chain. I imagine this is a pretty high priority task headed by whoever has any sort of experience with ecological studies.

Somewhat related to the above; if Guzma was accepted, he would've undoubtedly brought his Pokémon along, which would cause two things to happen:

  • Cross-breeding! Making merry with what fauna exists on the planet as part of the large-scale effort to try and get some sort of ecosystem going. Given the attitudes towards breeding in the Pokémon verse (that is, 'selective breeding is A-OK kids!') I imagine Guzma would be fine with his Poképals contributing to society this way. The result would be hybridised, insectoid creatures that, if not good for food, could be put to work with manual labour around the city.
  • Technology! Pokéballs are capable of converting organic, living Pokémon into data, and storing them in portable containers. If some tech wiz could crack the code on those and make them affect non-Pokémon entities as well, then it'd be a great boon with transporting and storing large loads.

Also, he would absolutely be pissed at the encroaching class divide between the first neighbourhood and the newer one- he didn't help lead this group to victory just to have them implement the same bullshit system from when he was back home. I imagine he'd be spending his time now fighting back against said divide; and given he'd be one of the Original Warriors, who was at a time their makeshift leader, he'd probably have some strong backing from the hero-worshippers.

I would love to contribute to the rest of these questions re: other worlds, the climate, etc. (especially given that one of my proposed characters is in charge of exploring said other worlds) but this is the point where my knowledge of How Stuff Works goes from 'bare minimum' to 'nada' :v

So, I'm going to post the general ideas that I've come up with for my characters:

Satsuki Kiryuin arrived in the second wave of inhabitants, dragged into the city against her will. After getting her bearings and seeing how bad the situation was, she immediately took charge and started organising things through sheer force of personality. She would have either founded the group tasked with maintaining order and law, or would have essentially taken over said group if it already existed. She holds her agents to exacting standards, treats lawbreakers harshly and rewards loyalty, but does her best to make sure any punishments are just. Over the next 20 years she did everything she could to cement her position and to influence the running of the city in ways she saw proper - lately, that means she is generally opposed to the growing split between the upper and lower classes, and pushes for a more even distribution of resources. She's viewed with a mix of approval and fear by the populace, and there are probably some whispers about how she might be a threat to the mayor (whoever that ends up being) and his control of the city.

Caesar Zepelli arrived in the same settlement wave. Rather than forming any ties to the city, he initially wanted to try and get back home to his fight against the Pillar Men. He was a key player in the effort to chart the multiverse around the city, going on frequent expeditions for supplies, and clashed with Satsuki over her takeover of the lawmen and some of her initial harsh punishments. Over time, as things settled down, and Satsuki was able to dial down the severity of her methods, and Caesar was able to appreciate her underlying honourable nature and start to see more eye to eye with her. At the same time, his growing attachment to the people in the city started to conflict with his desire to return home.

At some time point approximately five years after arriving, the pair became a couple, and eventually had a daughter - Mitsuko Zepelli. When the story starts, she's 16 years old, has learned the Ripple from her father and swordsmanship from her mother. She idolises both of her parents, and feels that she needs to live up to their accomplishments, even though neither of them felt the need to push her towards greatness. She has her father's temper, balancing precariously against her emulation of her mother's steely composure, and is generally a good kid with a kind heart.

Other assorted things:

  • I think it would be pretty cool if the 2nd generation characters at least know with each-other, maybe are even friends.
  • The question of wildlife could also be answered by invasive species from other worlds, either dropped in by portals or stowing away on ships. There are obviously going to be rats, because they've got to be a multiversal constant :P

For some reason I want to put forward my really weird character idea of a fragment of the God of Abundance Inari Okami materializing itself as the various forms of Smug Anime Wendy.

Mostly because of the trickster mentality, the mercantilism involved, and the fact that simple to make fast food out of whatever strange organisms that crops up would help feed the populace pretty well. All in all it'd help in gathering worship as well so there's that. Also because possibility of roasting people- that's the most important part.

My thoughts on the religion of the dead god are that his death is central to his worship. It was in death that they were able to find a new home, and it was after his death that his body began providing food and water. His death is what turned him into a benevolent god. This, combined with the other god abandoning them, is what primarily encourages his worship. I think on that same hand, the idea of his resurrection would actually be hotly debated as to whether its a good thing or not. Some probably believe that his benevolence comes from his death and should that change he might go back to being an evil god.

Probably because of there being a religious presence that is centered around the world the city is built on, there is a growing sentiment of Eco-preservation. They believe that only what is provided on the surface should be used, and to dig greedily is sacrilege.

What are the other nearby planets like?

And then I went back to this CYOA sheet, put it through a random generator about eight times, went into my Madness Place as I used up every last point for parts...and this is the result. A lot of these worlds are inhabited, which could either be through crossover colonising or native inhabitants. Actual notes are here. This list is strictly a prototype, to be added to or removed from at will. Maybe at some point I'll do something for the moons.

  • A microplanet, with three rings and a moon of its own. One of the few planets in the system from which a second sun can be seen in the sky. Gravity is earth-like. The planet itself is sapient and has a habit of feeding on its own rings, and any lump of rock unfortunate enough to pass by. However, it is also the centre to a nexus of portals, so regrettably it is often useful for transport purposes. The surface resembles an uncultivated moor, and is home to recognisable animals great and small. In fact, some animals we call small are large here, and many come in bizarre combinations. All animals are tethered into the hive mind of the planet itself, but there is one wilful species that has ascended to civilised sapience. This race numbers in the hundreds, with a feudal yet atheistic society. Some possess the meta gene, while one in a hundred have the potential to wield magic.
  • A dwarf planet in a bizarre shape, with two rings, a few orbiting comets, and a great density that walking here very strenuous for our types. One of the few planets in the system from which a second sun can be seen in the sky. On the surface can be found grasslands, a jungle region, a strange sea, biomechanics terrain and a disturbingly flesh-like landscape, possibly from a chunk of our dear dead god. These biomes are home to recognisable animals great and small. Many come in bizarre combinations, while others still have bizarre metabiology. This small, heavy world is the somehow the most densely populated, with people numbering in the tens of thousands. Their society is modern, with a religious backdrop, and with a few metahumans to match the meta-animals.
  • A regular sized planet, with a few orbiting comets and warped gravity that varies from one spot to the next. One of the few planets in the system from which a second sun can be seen in the sky. The air is filled with floating mountains and some strange layers of clouds About a fifth of the planet surface is of moors, while another fifth is of Great Lakes. The rest is comprised of regular mountains, sea, desert, biomechanics, shining crystals, and a lifeless barren wasteland. The recognisable animals here are of a tiny size, while hundreds of modern, occasionally pious, humans make their home here too.
  • A ring-shaped world ten times the size of the earth, with fairly low gravity on the surface. A tenth of the world is sheets of ice, another tenth is tundra, yet another tenth is moor, just over a tenth is forest, and just over a tenth is sea. The rest of the world is full of grasslands, Great Lakes, strange seas, mountains, jungle, swampland, volcanic plains and flesh-like terrain. That's not getting into the strange cloud layer, the floating mountain range, and all the intricate networks of caverns. The wildlife here is bizarre, coming in weird combinations, and every so often, it's said there comes an animal that is the very avatar of the world itself.
  • A disk-shaped uninhabited world ten times the size of earth, with a moon of its own and variable gravity. Setting aside the strange cloud layer and floating mountains, tenths of the surface can be roughly divided into volcanic plains, strange seas, ice sheets, Great Lakes, and flesh-like terrain, with a slightly larger chunk going to swampland. What remains from this are the deserts, the jungles, the mountains, the seas, the grasslands, the forests, and a crystalline landscape.
  • A microplanet with a moon and a ring to it, plus some very very low gravity, to the point where the floating mountains come as little surprise. The surface is a desert, with uncanny areas that seem to return to their previous state every time you turn around. The creatures here are unrecognisable, in weird combinations, and carry terrible plagues with them. One such species has ascended to a civilised, space-faring, atheistic race, with some metagene carriers. One in ten of them are magic users.
  • A disk-shaped microplanet with five rings and variable gravity. The surface area is a moor, with weather that almost has a mind of its own. It is home to recognisable animals great and small, with some coming in weird combinations. Its human colonists number in the thousands, with a modern yet religious society, and magic users numbering on in ten. Every now and again, there comes a magic wielding human that is the avatar of the world itself.
  • An uninhabited world the size of Jupiter, hanging at the edge of the solar system like a ball on a chain. Has two rings, a moon, and gravity befitting its massive size. Cloud layer and floating mountains aside, a tenth of the world is of volcanic plains, while another tenth is tundra. Just over a tenth is sea, just under is barren wastelands. Occupying twentieths of the world are desert, flesh, biomechanics, crystals, forests, Great Lakes, ice sheets, jungles, moors, strange seas and swamps, with some tiny bits of mountain and grassland as well.

And a Strange Figure Emerges.

Since Satsuki as the head of authority has been brought up, and I was talking with Strat about my character (tentatively called Laeta Owari, early 20's) and her potential tendency to bend some rules (in particular, sneaking out to the Naked Wilds against the express purposes of her father and the society in general), I'll bring up a question that I asked him; what's the current method of disciplinary action? How has it improved, if it has at all, from 'Envy killed peeps, let's bury him'?

I'd see the rule as "sneaking into the Naked Wilds is its own punishment", with the matter only being pressed if they get rescued or bring stuff back from there, like the equivalent of the tourist sewer gator.

Had a idea for more severe crimes: There are unexplored areas deep within the god, containing rare resources. Criminals too powerful and/or expensive to lock up would be sent to explore these areas and establish outposts and colonies there with the prospect of becoming the rulers of their own free havens (that the main city will crush with ease and rebuild if they don't pay their taxes on time).

Another possibility is for there to be remote portals that keep spawning horrible things, the people stationed would be tasked with cutting down these invasions before they make too much progress towards the city. This also gives the assorted factions a common enemy to fight against.
