Yeah, it's nice to hear that the Knife is making its return.
Knife was f*cking broken in early Resident Evil. Back in the day, it was brutally effective in conserving ammunition. Knife zombie in knees, it falls down. Continue knifing until death, clearly indicated by spread of blood pool. Rinse and repeat, saving actual bullets for situations where you have multiple zombies, or for monsters that are actually dangerous. Knife OP plz nerf.
Zombie fighting is a bit more complicated than that now.

So for shits and giggles in the RE 3 demo, I shot the electrical box by the donut shop while standing right next to it. Jill gets shocked like the zombies do, but she took absolutely no damage at all. I tried healing with an herb and it didn't work since I was already at full health. Ergo, electrocution is harmless. 
Electricity knows better than to hurt Jill.

I don't know what demo you were playing, but I think only two zombies stayed down in mine. The knife was great for finishing them off which makes it a decent trade off for the slot it takes up.
