Broadcast networks are still trying to figure out how to compete with the Netflix-style binge. They still have to cope with viewers watching "live" (no DVR or on demand), so they can't just show a full season back-to-back in a day or two. Disney Channel seems to be experimenting with dumping a full season in a month. They did that with Star vs. the Forces of Evil's 4th season too.
The problem is it takes a full year (or more!) to make a season, so you get the same number episodes per year either way. You just get them spread out, or all at once followed by a long hiatus.
I love the gag with how over the top creepy Maddie is
(also still confused what up with the overall really dark sense of humor this show has. Though I think kids might actually like that sort of things, books written for kids these days are really bloody)
Still gotta love that recurring gag of someone saying something dark and then sudden close up and scare string

Alright, "Quick Thoughts Time"
"Cursed!" Maddie still as creepy as ever. Her Creepy Good status makes her a misplaced Star Vs The Forces Of Evil character [come to think of it, Sprig's curse does remind me of Tad]. Can't really blame Spranne [yeah, that cute Portmanteau Couple Name reprises] for their cowardice. Not shocked by Berry being the actual culprit.
"Fiddle Me This" Uh! One of these episodes. But the Imagine Spot was funny. Okay, the final act was good. Glad there weren't any Simon Cowell parodies.
Maddie got more screen time in her one focus episode than the other girl did in both of hers...
More screen time overall, honestly.
Crazy.

"The Big Bugball Game": Ah, finally, the sports episode! There's really not much here for me to spoil as it pretty much follows the premise to the letter with no real twists or standout moments. Well except for one small moment that's too sweet to spoil.
"Combat Camp": Holy sh*(, it's an Inigo Montoya expy! While the pacing is a bit fast for what it's trying to do, the payoff is hilarious. Poor Anne though, all that heartfelt development and coaching...only to be manipulated again!
That 2nd episode was SUPER FAST.
Seriously, this show actually does need more time.

"Children of the Spore": Ah, so Hop-pop does have a confirmed past with acting. Also finally does Apothecary Gary make an appearance...and he does not disappoint! That's some creepy stuff though, that potion. Feels like a love letter to old B-movies
"Anne of the Year": While The Mayor ain't wrong about Anne, it's still rather amusing that she won. The rest of the premise, down to the irony is predictable...but this show has been very good at making such premises still hold up just because of the characters. I have no idea whether to be bummed or ecstatic that Ivy reciprocates. On one hand, it kinda cheats a good lesson....on the other, they have such good chemistry...and Disney already has enough shows of non-reciprocation. But dat end! Mmmhmmm dat end. Tommorrow is gonna be insane!
If only Ivy appeared more, this would've felt more natural.
She's pretty cute though, so there's that.

So, So, we get a flashback...finally, some explanation! So Sasha proves her rather Anti-Hero bonafides (bordering on the 90's kind). Also interesting to see how she managed to get all these Earthy things made...Too bad all of it was used as a means to imprison the frogs. But the whole Toads vs Frogs thing has been hinted at...and a lot more subtly than, another certain show. Glad to see Sprig stand up for Anne, that was a good moment complete with "Spranne against the world". Also, I respect Grimes sorta Villainous Friendship with Sasha. It's a good contrast. Taking one interlude from plot commentary to offer this? What the hell are they gonna tell Marcie, y'know when we see her again? Okay back to the point, while I'm glad Anne went all Shut Up, Hannibal! on Sasha, I would've preferred a Kirk Summation back at her regarding the Power of Friendship. Still, when the dynamite went kablooie, it was a good moment where Sasha sacrificed herself, true anti-hero. But, and I have to repeat this, maybe to the consternation of everyone else here....WHATABOUT MARCIE!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm guessing Marcie's with the Newts, another faction with their own complicated stakes.
That wasn't hinted at, that was like the plot of one whole episode...

Production?
There's no reason other shows' seasons "can't" be dumped out all at once, but it's good that they aren't.
