So inspired by the post that brings the idea that Marcy not being on the show wouldn't impact the story too much, would the show really be that different if Polly wasn't on the show?
After all, she doesn't seem to have as definitive a role in Anne's life the same Sprig is as the one to guide her through a healthy friendship or Hop Pop being an authority figure. Heck, she's the only one that Sasha didn't really have beef with in Reunion so Polly wasn't exactly very relevant there. She also doesn't have a lot of focus episodes, only getting a handful of episodes that focus on her (I'm sure even Sasha has more episodes that focus on her than Polly does despite appearing less). It's emphasized even more in season 3B where Polly basically does nothing worth of relevancy for the majority of it when they get back to Amphibia until the show's final two episodes. Sure there's Frobo, but it's not like you couldn't just give him to Sprig if Polly wasn't on the show since he himself is already impulsive and reckless.
So with that stuff in mind, would the show's story be that different if Polly wasn't on the show?
The show would be much less fun without Polly. Her role in Anne’s life is to be the unrestrained id to Sprig’s ego and Hop Pop’s superego, being a babysitting handful while also tempting Anne and Sprig to be impulsive just like her. And her increasing maturity parallels that of Anne and Sprig’s as she grows from aggressive to caring, from a baby to even a parent to Frobo.

Taking Polly out of the main cast is like taking Flash out of the Justice League.
...alright, maybe not that bad, but there'd be a big hole left behind either way.
That's not what was said.
Marcy is a secondary character. She's not going to be in every episode or get the same amount of focus. She has a role but it's not a lead role.
Polly is a main character. The show would be very different without her.

How so? You could elaborate. Especially when one realizes how Polly doesn't have that many episodes where she's the main focus and isn't as impactful to Anne's development as Sprig and Hop Pop are. And are we really gonna forget that period in season 3B where Polly pretty much barely did anything when the group went back to Amphibia until the final 2 episodes?
Plus, even outside Anne, Polly's still barely involved in the main plot like with the Andrias invasion plot and the toad rebellion stuff. She doesn't even get any significant interaction with Sasha like Sprig and Hop Pop got in Reunion despite Sasha's conflicts with the Plantars being why Anne turned against her.

Huh so a thought occurred to me, I remember the cast saying 'Not the baby!' at least once during the race in Newtopia but apprently I missed them saying it before they entered the city

have a listen and have a link to my discord serverGood news everyone! Amphibia will be getting a revival coming in June of next year! It will focus on the girls' new adventures in Amphibia as adults. And it will also reveal that Anne's ancestors are secretly shapeshifting frogs who disguise themselves as humans, revealing she was a frog all this time.
He didn't say he was offended, just that someone might take it the wrong way. I'll delete the words though. I do think people can get a little too easily offended these days, but I won't argue over it.
For whatever its worth, it was inspired by a situation in an anime fandom where two male characters had a fair amount of ship teasing, and they developed a following. But then the creator said in an interview that one of the two characters was actually a trans woman, which a part of the fanbase apparently didn't like, and in some cases even chose to ignore this information.

Wouldn't feel right with themes at all.
In light of yesterday, I find it interesting that the "serious, dark, edgy, mature, fantasy" show got the lighter ending, while the "wacky, comedic, simple" show ended up with the less happy one.
Even moreso when the ultimate finale was given the same template. Despite such intricately different origins, The Core and Belos ended up being very similar, and someone died for it.
Also, I kinda want to see some The Collector crawls into Andrias' pocket pics. That'd be adorable.

I mean Amphibia's ending I still like, but I do feel it disingenuous to play fast and loose with realism at times while doubling down on it for reasons.
That and as I said in The Owl House thread, while it might not be the intent of everyone who uses the more typical Isekai ending, it does feel like such is meant to suggest that there is only one right way to grow up and all.

So, what do you all think would happen if the box didn't work and the girls never went to Amphibia? We know Sasha would still boss Anne around until their friendship finally fell apart, but what about Marcy?
Would Marcy's character development be any different than how it was in Amphibia (given either way she still has to move) and why?

that's not really irony but whatever
best episode is the one with the blind twins from the previous seasons
