The Indoor Pool

"Right," said the Saint. "Well, I guess there isn't much more to do here. Normally you're all free to do what you want after-hours, but I think it'll be best if I take you to the dorms for now. Except for Mike. He'll have to stay here for the night. Hopefully he'll be right as rain by tomorrow morning. If not, well, we'll just have to go from there. Well, come on, everyone! Time waits for no Superhero! To the Dorms we go!"

As everyone except Mike and Jasmine marched off to the Dorms (and as Nurse Hello agreed to take Mikheal's blood sampling while remarking he was just a bit too young for her), Jasmine began to play her lute once more, administrating the next round of treatment. And Mike at last fell into a deep slumber. Whether or not the music would work on him, only time would tell.

However, in the corner of the pool, the dark corners where you could hardly see a thing, something was watching. No-one could blame Jasmine or the others for not seeing it. After all, there wasn't much to see. But it was there. Watching and waiting in the darkness. And it had seen what it needed to see. The darkness retreated into the ether, making itself scarce and vanishing to parts unknown. Or perhaps not so unknown...

Outside School Grounds

A thin, scrawny teenager wearing nothing but black stood across the street. His eyes were closed, and yet, he still seemed to somehow be looking straight at the school in spite of that. They soon slowly opened as his shadow briefly began to grow, shifting and turning like a maelstrom until at last it settled. And he knew. "So," he said. "Saint Academy's just lost their precious little lapdog. And some of the students have lost their faith. Hell, if this were to get out, the school might just lose its' credibility. A lost of things lost, huh?"

He mussed his long, black hair, letting it fall free like a waterfall. "Still, better keep that one close to the vest. Never know when it might come in handy. Still though. Helluva' find. With everything else, this might just be the opening we've been waiting for. Isn't that right, Shady?" He glanced at his shadow. For a moment, it also seemed to wink. But that just wasn't possible. Was it?

"Tomorrow then. Tomorrow. I'll love ya, tommorrow! Lucy." He then started to walk into the nearest alleyway. A salesman soon walked by, deciding to look into the alleyway on a whim. Not that he would find anything. The man had vanished without a trace. And his shadow with him.

Tomorrow. It was gonna be a hell of a day.

Day 2 — The Dorms

Morning. It was a glorious sight. The sun was shining, the birds were singing, and there wasn't a single fishperson in sight. Not outside of the pool anyway. In any case, it was time to rise and shine. Breakfast would be in half an hour and Homeroom half an hour after that. If there was anything they wanted to do first thing, they'd better do it now, lest they wanted to wait until after-school. However, while most of the students had spent the night in the dorm, a couple weren't so lucky. Mike was one of them. He was still in the pool, sleeping like a baby, though whether or not he was back to normal, no-one could say. And as for Ever? Well...

The Gardens

The first rays of morning shone on the gardens, blessing all within with their radiance. Not that Flora and Ever cared much. They had just spent all night engaging in what some might call a rather questionable relationship, but it couldn't be anything further from the truth. After hours spent coiled around each other's roots, Flora finally removed them and retreated them back into herself, and at last took herself out of the Earth. "Well?"

Day 2 — The Dorms—Captain Raleigh and Alexandroid

"Sobh bexeyr!" Matten leaned over the stirring Rebecca. She had made alot of noise dragging the cart and tray in—and shuffling over to Becca's bed to lean over the girl, fork in hand. "Take a bite. We don't have long before class, Captain Raleigh."

Matten clasped a hand to her face, almost blushing. "Oh, my apologies for not getting the full story before. I would have had the lovely couple fix up your room too. When I heard how you just got everyone in line and started saving everyone at the Outdoor Pool, I just got chills."

"Oh my," Matten stood straight a moment before curtsying. "I forgot my manners. In any case, eat up." She leaned back in, again putting the fork at Rebecca's lips. "I took some stuff from the kitchen and made you some excellent pache alongside going a bit western and adding crepes instead of plain flatbread, and I put together cups of every fruit jam that was on hand. And I just scooped up some stuff from the cafeteria line on the way. "

She began to count off with her other hand, "I already have your book bag at your desk, being guarded by a friendly little black dog, and your desk is marked by an exquisite candle and silk cloth with the embroidery of a muk. Forgive me, I don't quite know an actual animal that you might want as your sign. Take your time, and I'll take you right to class when you finish. How shall I announce you when you enter?"

Dormitory-Night 1

Matten had bowed out of the boys' room after Hei lin seemed to be starting up and flitted back down to Lucy and Ever Green's room. This time knocking and not entering.

"Your Hei Lin will be back, but he's at Mike and Liam's if you want to check on him! And don't be disappointed if he doesn't look as lovely working as I do. That uniform does not quite fit him. Good night!" She all but floated down the corridor before disappearing around a corner, stifling laughter. Of course she had not gone. If Hei Lin made a run for it, well catching him was half the fun...

Dormitory-Night 1

“N-no! That’s okay! I c-can do it myself!” Hei quickly assured Matten. He didn’t want any more of his hoodie lost to her aura, and the look in her eyes told him that either he would wear the outfit willingly, or she would force it on him. Calling up a shadow to envelop him, Hei reluctantly changed into the french maid outfit.

“C-couldn’t you h-have gotten an outfit that s-shows a little less skin?” Hei muttered, glancing uncomfortably at his exposed arms and legs. As if responding to his will, the shadows whirled around him, clinging the sleeves and skirt to create the illusion of lengthening the dark fabric. Once he was done, Hei now appeared to be dressed in a patchwork victorian maid outfit.

Now that he didn’t feel like spontaneously combusting out of sheer embarrassment, Hei began sweeping a nearby desk with the duster. Meanwhile, the shadows that extended his skirt formed tentacles that grabbed the cleaning supplies and began cleaning the room.

The Dorms - Night 1

Lucy was spared from having to sleep on the bed by Matten's reappearance, a feeling of dread welling in her heart at her words.

What does she mean by that...? she thought with no small amount of trepidation, picking up her bag psychically via the ink inside before rushing out the dorm room towards Mike and Liam's room.

(She was all too aware of its location due to Ever's process-of-elimination route whilst they were first choosing their dorm.)

Flinging the door open, she froze, a furious blush spreading across her cheeks as she witnessed Hei in a maid's outfit cluelessly trying to figure out how to clean the room.

She squeezed her eyes shut in an attempt to remove this image from her brain, but to no avail. For once, she was actively wishing to see that nightmarish face again if it meant avoiding this permanent etching in her memory.

"H-Hei..." she managed to squeak out, cracking an eyelid open only to immediately close it again. "W-What... no, j-just what?"

The Dorms - Day 2

Lucy yawned, stretching a little as she inwardly braced herself to get up. Like most teens her age, she ended up putting this off for another ten minutes before finally forcing herself to throw off her covers, groggily getting out of bed. Quickly slipping her clothes on, she grabbed her bag and made her way out the room.

Cafeteria

Too sleepy to really care where she ended up with, Lucy sat herself down at the nearest table she could find after quickly getting some food from the line, setting her bag down next to her. She hadn't spotted Hei anywhere yet...

Face sporting a furious blush, she discreetly flicked her hood up. That memory was still fresh on her mind, and it sent shivers down her spine at the thought of them.

Dorms, Night 1- Day 2, undisclosed time

After Rosalinda was firmly asleep, Vicky opened her eyes, bright and full with energy.

Okay, now's your chance...

She swung her legs slowly over the edge of the bed, standing up softly. With careful steps, she walked over and put on a dark hoodie, pulling it up to cover her face and tightening it. As she stood just behind the door leading out of the room, she felt for any footsteps outside. Nothing. Quick as a flash, she opened the door, slipped outside, and closed it quietly behind her. Silence, and the ground was still static. She crept through the dorms, expertly avoiding any people with the help of her tremorsense, and with a silent *click*, she finally slipped outside, slinking into the night...

Day 2, Morning

Vicky snuck quickly back into her bed, looking slightly scuffed and dirty, though considering how little the others had seen her, she hoped they wouldn't notice. As everyone else started waking up, she pretended to be asleep some more. Well..at least partly, unconsciously drifting into the limbo between reality and the world of dreams.

"There are many demons in this world, Mikael. Some take the form of men, and some are like wild beasts. Yet no matter the form, one thing is true: they are all the evils of the world. All the greed, despair, hatred, loathing, and madness that avails it. Manifested into being that desire our destruction." Josef Freisch looked old, then, and bitter. His young grandson could only stare. "But where there is evil, there is good - in humanity there is hope, and kindness, and love. These things demons cannot stand, for these things demons do not have. They are what makes us human - and yet they make us frail. Kindness cannot defend itself. Love is no shield. And so, Mikael, if you wish to save the world of evil, you must, in a sense, become evil. You must kill. You must stain your hands with blood, that your children's children's hands be clean. Do you understand, Mikael?"

He handed the boy a rifle, and pointed him towards the buck, currently grazing serenely in the meadow. It hadn't seen them yet. The shot was clear. Raising the scope to his eye, Mikael paused, biting his lip. He turned his head back to face his grandfather.

"Opa, are there really no good demons?"

Josef scowled. "No. Not a one. Not in this world, or any other. They may lie, pretend to be kind - but they are not. Not ever. You must never allow demons to hold sway over your thoughts. Promise me, Mikael. Promise me you will never give in to any demon, no matter the temptation."

He lowered his head back to the rifle scope, and took his aim. "...I promise, Opa."

A lone gunshot rang out.

You've always been a demon, my son.

Day 2, Dorms

Rolling out of bed, rubbing his eyes, Mikael rose to his feet. Blinking away the last fragments of sleep, he bid his roommate Caleb a half-hearted Guten Morgen before beginning to dress. Throwing on his usual fur coat over a casual t-shirt and jeans (after last night, he assumed that they wouldn't be dropped into any serious training exercises, though really his empowered coat was most of his costume anyway, so he supposed it didn't matter) - and his locket, of course, which he was never without - he strode out the door, heading for the cafeteria.

Hopefully breakfast would not be disastrous as yesterday's lunch.

"Hey, Oliver, wake up."
"Huh?"
Oliver sat up and looked around. He was in a room that was decidedly different from his dorm and anything at home. It was pristine and bright, and the only thing he could see beside the slab of what looked like futuristic marble he was on was an indent in the wall that was roughly door-shaped. The indent opened, revealing itself to truly be a door, and a strange man walked in. He was wearing an odd bandanna and a hoodie, completely out of place for this environment.

"Hey, bud, we've been passing through dimensi-"

And then Oliver blacked out.

Day 2

Oliver woke up, as one does when they have school in the morning, and tried to ignore his dream. He showered, brushed his teeth, and threw on a shirt identical to the one that he used as bandages for Liam. He also grabbed his bag and scabbard and headed down to grab some breakfast.

What. The. Hell.

Rebecca stared at Matten, groggy and confused, as she explained all the preparations she had apparently made. Rebecca was silent for a long moment. What could she even say to this? But then her stomach rumbled loudly, and she decided that the food Matten brought looked pretty appetizing, despite her not knowing what it was.

As Rebecca chowed down, she paused between bites to talk to Matten with her mouth full.

“Than’ you. Thish ish really goo’. You don’ need to annouse me, I din’t do it for reco’nishn. Erryone was pan’king, and somethin’ juss clicked, I guesh? I dunno how t’ esplain it.”

Sam hit the floor of the ice rink with a grunt. After all the madness of the previous day and a restless night of sleep, he felt like burning off some energy, so he woke up earlier and started this ice hockey game. There are a few particularities about it, though. First, the other players were made of ice, and weren't exactly wearing uniforms either. One team was formed by Roman soldiers, and the other, was formed by beast men. And second, the field was floating midair.

A referee gave Sam a penalty as a soldier started a fight with a tiger man with the hockey stick as the others tried holding him back.

Sam took the shot, and scored against the rhino man that was the goalkeeper. Raising his stick on the air, he high fived a Roman, before the game continued. Sam passed to his teammates, but got crosschecked by a wolf.

I make them too good He complained Or too rough

Fortunately, he made his own armor for the game.

"I'll be seeing purple on my future" He commented, as the legion scored again. Game over.

With that, the field started descending as all the players disappeared, and just before hitting the floor it stopped, before slowly vanishing as Sam's skates went back to the boots.

Taking a sip of a water bottle he had on him, he went back to the dorm to get a shower, trying to steel himself for the day.

Time to face the music He thought, preparing himself mentally for the consequences of his actions. Picking up a green polo, black jeans and sneakers. Taking off the the tank top he had on, he saw bruises on his ribs and sighed.

Next time I need to let out steam, I'll ski He commented Or just run

With that, he went to the bathroom.

Wake me up at your own risk.

Hei's eyes snapped toward Lucy, looking somewhere between resigned and mortified. "I should have know M-matten had something to do with this..." He muttered to himself, before raising his voice to address the shellshocked girl. "H-hi Lucy...I know the uniform Matten forced me to w-wear looks weird on m-me..." Hei frowned in thought as his tentacles continued to clean the room. "D-do people really wear maid uniforms for cleaning? It's n-not very comfortable..."

Lucy, still carrying a beet-red blush, couldn't tear her eyes away from the sight.

"E-Er... n-not really, n-no..." she muttered. Finally managing to mentally suppress her shock for the time being, her head was clear enough to see his predicament.

With the exception of the fancy dress, he had no idea how to clean.

"I-It's alright, H-Hei. I'll h-help," she offered, picking up a mop whilst still avoiding his gaze. "T-this isn't the... w-weirdest thing I've d-done, but it's up t-there..." she admitted.

It's probably the most embarrassing though...

Cafeteria - Day 2

Lucy jumped out of her thoughts as Hei slumped down opposite her, blushing whilst mentally groaning.

Speak of the devil...

Too busy trying to avoid thinking of the last night's events, she still somehow managed to say the stupidest thing she had ever thought possible.

"Oh, it looked alright on you, Hei..." she muttered absent-mindedly, before her hands clamped around her mouth to stifle an embarrassed squeak, staring at him with wide eyes.

"I... I..." she stammered, unable to even formulate a coherent sentence.

Day 2 — The Dorms—Captain Raleigh and Alexandroid

Matten blushed, grinning widely while Rebecca ate—or rather while she quite literally spoon fed Captain Raleigh, even while she had a phantasm neatly gathering her clothes. "My apologies," she pulled the utensils away as soon as her clothes were ready. The captain had to be at morning mess after all! The clothes were all soiled but such was Captain Raleigh's design. Matten's work was complex, for she had to fold with silverware, at the very least.

"Ok," Matten clapped her hands, returning the tray cover before producing a long toothbrush. "I made it special. And with food coloring! I can give you an even yellow without that nasty burning cleaning stuff!" Which she did—without waiting for permission, or giving Becca a chance to speak. Meanwhile her phantasm rolled and flipped the bedsheet, using the chance to slip the clothes it/she had picked onto the girl.

Matten and her phantasm, without missing a beat, immediately rolled the bedsheet, Becca and all, onto the cart. "They don't have palanquin, I'm sorry to say, Captain. Anyway, sit erect please. We're almost there."

The Cafetaria

With practiced ease, Matten had used the flurry of bed covers to traverse with Becca straight to the cafeteria. "Your bag is under the cart, milady. I thought you might want it close by. Here's a mirror, and now."

Matten swung over both doors to the cafeteria while her phantasm pushed Captain Raleigh through the threshold. "Ladies and gentlemen of Class 1 and, well, the rest of you, I present to you, our Captain Pollutrix, who stares down Dagon and roars and laughs before she succumbs to fear!"

Both Matten and her phantasm curtsied before pushing the cart in, the black dog having followed from homeroom with the captain's embroidered cloth and candles. "So, where do you want to sit, milady? Don't worry about who's butt might be planted there. If you want a spot it is yours." To the rest of the room, Matten added, "If you must hear her ladyship's story, she is approachable, but be polite and approach on your knees."

Mike awoke, mostly back to normal but still dealing with a range of emotions due to the events of the previous night, mainly anger, shame, and fear. These were all mostly foreign concepts to Mike so he resolved to mainly keep his mouth shut and his head down for the day until he got back to his old self. "Most everyone else has already been turned back to normal. We dumped them off of school grounds, none the wiser. They don't remember a thing from last night, sides from showing up to a party and everything going black. As far as they're concerned, it was just a bad drug trip or something. But there's a few who aren't so lucky."

Still sleeping in the pool were a mermaid, a Deep One, and the giant squid. "Those three got their minds back, but they're never gonna be the same. They're gonna have to stay here at the school. Maybe for the rest of their lives. If things had been just a bit different, it could've been the same with you. That said, I just wanna say I'm sorry. I really said some things I shouldn't have. Rosalinda watched as the van with the RK symbol approached. A young, thin man with wispy gray hair and wearing a black and white uniform climbed out from the driver seat and approached her.

"Comrade Heckler," Rosalinda said and saluted him.

"Good morning, Ms. Martinez. Do you have the goods?"

Rosalinda grabbed Navi and handed it to the soldier . Heckler examined the metal orb a bit before he tucked it away in his bag.

"I hope that the Doctor didn't give you a hard time," Heckler flashed a smile at her.

Rosalinda chuckled. "Unfortunately, Konoe is synonymous with hard times."

After a bit of banter, Heckler returned to his van and drove away.

Day 2 Liam - on the way

Liam woke up the next morning after having an interesting time last night - he had basically waited out the hard on so he didn't have to explain much to those around him. Being like that around so many of his peers would be...difficult. Let alone his guilt over what had happened. Saint had come in, straight up freaking fired Interceptor, and then...

Liam sighed. He wondered how much detention he had. He dragged himself out of his dorm, looking over and giving a guilt ridden, "...he's not back yet..." when he saw Mike's empty bed.

Thankfully, Andre had brought over Montrose last night, and so he snuggled for a brief moment with the possum. Even Montrose seemed to detect how his owner needed some affection right now.

Then he put the possum on the floor and said, "Be back later, boy. See ya..."

He put on a smile, as usual - he preferred being festive and joyful to being glum and depressive, so he strode out of the dorm, looking for where his first class of the day was. He decided to head off to the cafeteria and get something to eat before the class started.

Day 2 - Dorms:

Alexandra was in bathroom, looking at her reflection in the mirror.

Last day was chaotic, Alexa say these words with absolute certainty. No, that would have been an understatement. She was sure that no one in the school expected for things to go so wrong in the first day of school.

All that Alexa could feel was void, an emptiness that swallowed all. The girl put her hand on her chest. She begged herself to feel. Shock, melancholy, distress, fear, anger, guilt, relief, twisted happiness... Anything would be fine, as long as she could feel something, as long as she could convince herself that she was more than just a machine with a human brain now. She remembered the sacking of Interceptor, transformations into merfolk, her helplessness during the incident...

Only a null.

   -.— —- ..- / .- .-. . / -. —- - / .... ..- — .- -. / .- -. -.— — —- .-. . .-.-.-

Again, an unknown code made its mark on her brain, rendering her numb to everything for a moment. After recovering from a moment of void, Alexa glanced at her reflection and saw a machine with a bad imitation of a human. Her look could inspire sadness in others, and that was the last thing she wanted. "Nobody like gloomy ones." Alexa whispered to herself before touching her cheeks. She formed a smile, her mask. "Is this natural? Would no one think that I am faking it, hiding something? Yes, it's perfect." She said, looking at the mirror with eyes of a dead fish.

And thus, Alexa started her day, going to cafeteria as if nothing was wrong. "Everything is fine", the girl said, despite knowing that she spoke a lie.

Cafeteria Day 2

A tired “Uggghhh” was Hei’s response. It seemed like he didn’t fully process Lucy’s slip just yet. A small shadow gate appeared on the table and ejected a tray of breakfast, presumably taken from the kitchen. The smell of food seemed to give Hei the energy to function properly once again, as he finally lifted his head from the table, jumping a little when he saw Lucy sitting opposite him.

“O-oh! G-good morning Lucy...” Hei stammered, face tinged red as he recalled last night’s events.

Matten’s entrance made him redden further and hunch down, as if hoping to make himself more unnoticeable.

Cafeteria

She let out a quiet sigh of relief that he didn't seem to hear her slip. "Good m-morning, Hei."

After a few moments trying to calm herself, Lucy's gaze softened as she realised how truly awkward he must feel. It was embarrassing for her to see, but he was the one that was wearing it, after all.

She reached across the table and squeezed his hand. She was doing that a lot lately, and she didn't know why, but it felt like the right thing to do.

"H-hey, you OK? Y-you're n-not too upset about... y-you-know-what, a-are you?" she asked quietly.

Dorm: E&L

    Long Version

Ever sighed as she close the door to her room, glad that she hadn't encountered anyone on the way over. Ever hurried over to the dresser and picked out some cloths before dashing into the bathroom.

As she readied to rid her hair of owl poop, a sudden realization that she was still in her only pair of pajamas struck her. They were covered in mud, feathers and smelled faintly of Matten.

Ever muttered faintly to herself about doing laundry early as she folded the soiled sleeping cloths away in the dirty laundry, before taking her shower.

    Short Version

Ever did the thing she set out to do and got clean, changed out of her pajamas and was generally dissatisfied with their state of being.

Once clean, she got dressed and left the bathroom. One the way out of the dorm proper however, something coaught her eye. A picture frame that wasn't there yesterday. It was technically Lucy's business, but Ever couldn't resist a little peek.

"Why is that shadow kid wearing a maid costume?"

Welp. Ever was gonna have to have a talk with Lucy about this new addition to her nightstand, as well as ask what happened after she left. After carefully setting the picture frame back down in it's original place, she was on her way to the cafeteria. Lucy would be there, and more importantly, breakfast.

Argue everything you can argue. Doubt everything you believe. Ask every question you have. Argue, doubt and ask. Through this we learn.

Cafeteria

Rebecca was very confused. She hadn’t been fully awake in the first place, and now before she could react, Matten had dressed her, shoved a toothbrush in her mouth, and carried her into the cafeteria on a cart. The dazed and bewildered expression on her face said everything anyone needed to know about Rebecca’s opinion on this situation.

The first thing Rebecca did was fall off the cart. It started as an attempt to climb down, but ended with her flat on her face. Then, after pushing herself up, she sat down in the nearest chair. Then she turned to Matten and tried to formulate a proper sentence. It didn’t go well.

“How the... why would... what just... I said I didn’t... why?”
