"To be honest, I'm a bit overwhelmed. Surrounded by... peculiar characters, weird architectures, and fighting a 20-meter tall reptile. In the end of the day, I'm just an average mook, if not for..." She waved her left hand "...this thing over here."

Lucy nodded in agreement. "I-I know what y-you mean. W-when I th-thought 'first day at school' this w-wasn't exactly what I h-had in m-mind," she admitted, before looking back at her painting to see what she had done so far.
It was a person? Someone familiar, too, although she couldn't put her finger on it. That may have simply been because half of it was unfinished though.
Deciding to take a break, she set down the pot and brush and turned her full attention to Rosa, looking curiously at the device on her wrist she had pointed out.
"W-What... What is that, e-exactly?" she questioned. "It s-sort of looks l-like a watch..."

Rosalinda pointed at the stylized "RK" on the device and the emblem on her shoulder.
"It's called a ReliKON. Some crazy scientist named Daichi Konoe came up with this. He hired me to test drive this thing. It gives me armor and weapon-creating ability. Supposedly makes us muggles equal to folks like you"

Lucy listened intently, before frowning at the last part, looking down at the floor in thought. It was an offhand comment, but the phrase nonetheless impacted.
"I d-don't think y-you're a 'muggle'," she said quietly. "You're n-not below people w-with powers even if y-you don't have any. I m-mean," she paused, her voice gaining a little bit of strength. "look at me. I h-have powers but I'm a w-wreck," she muttered, before looking up and smiling warmly at Rosa. "I t-think it's wonderful nonetheless. I'm sure y-you'll outdo me with t-that," she stated in a matter of fact tone. She sounded like she earnestly believed it as well.

"I appreciate that, Lucy. One perk about growing up with a soldier for a padre is that he toughens me up. You also did decently well too, for a self-proclaimed wreck."
Rosalinda hesitated for a while and then said.
"If you don't mind me asking, what makes you like that? A nervous wreck, I mean."

Lucy froze up for a second at Rosa's question, her eyes glazing over momentarily.
It's not your fault...
"An accident," she said softly. "I was... a-always shy, but n-not this bad u-until..."
She cut herself off, taking a deep breath before continuing. "M-My brother, David. He and I w-were coming home from s-school and... we w-were jumped. Four of t-these thugs," she spat with a surprisingly venomous tone, "from school jumped us, they w-were going to... they were going to hurt David," she whispered harshly. "I-I w-wanted to help him b-but... I g-guess one of them snuck up on m-me..."
Her voice was starting to break now. "I w-woke up three weeks later. T-These men in suits... They told me that they w-were expelled, but..."
She sniffed a little, inwardly growling in frustration and rubbing her eyes. She was going to break down soon, and she knew it.
"...But... D-David..." she muttered brokenly. "He l-looked like he'd been through hell. A-and he w-won't tell m-me why..." she sobbed, before finally breaking down into quiet tears.
"I-If I'd j-just done something... I c-could have h-helped..."

"If those thugs willfully attacked you and your brother, then the blame is fully on them. You are not to blame."

Dorm: Someone’s Room
In a shadowy corner of the room, one of Hei’s portals opened to let the boy step out. I hope Rebecca isn’t too mad...I mean, I did think someone was in trouble from the scream... He thought as he looked around the new location. Where am I any-Nevermind, Lucy’s here with Rosa.
Hei quietly approached The two girls with a hand raised in greeting. “Hi Rosa, Lucy. Sorry for the s-sudden appearance, but...Lucy?” Hei’s sentence died when he saw Lucy’s expression “W-what’s the matter...you’re crying!” He quickly moved beside Lucy, worridly looking her over before turning to Rosa, concern and alarm evident on his face. “R-rosa, w-what happened?”
A part of Hei knew he was being stupid for worrying so much about a new acquaintance, but rest of him didn’t really care at the moment.
Liam paused for a second as he considered what Mikael was saying. Could he really get away with a party without telling the school what was going on? Liam knew he'd gotten some noise complaints before, but this was probably something beyond dealing with some angry neighbors.
There was also the matter of bringing Montrose and all his belongings into their room, and whether Mike would be okay with the awesome possum.
Also gotta remember to buy Ellie her merch - nobody else is.
Sheesh, a lot to think about.

Adrian found himself blinking as a response much more than intended. Well, he'd been told where he could find a room, and could infer from the pace of his new friend that he was a fan of power walking. Delightful! Adrian made his way up to the room mentioned, and promptly burst in without remembering to knock, threw his bag onto whichever bed was unoccupied, grabbed hold of his already-forming clone's bag before he could get to throwing it, and dumped the second bag next to the first without a second thought, opening Bag Prime and beginning to extract his necessities.

Despite herself, she managed to smile. "T-Thanks Rosa..."
Lucy gasped through her tears as Hei suddenly appeared in the room and rushed next to her, turning red with embarrassment and shame at her breakdown.
"H-Hei... n-no, it's a-alright... I'm OK..." she whispered, trying to wipe away her tears again and pulling up her hood to hide herself. "I-It's just b-been a long d-day, t-that's all. It's..."
She squeezed her eyes shut in an attempt to stop crying, but it didn't work, and she found herself breaking again. Instinctively, she grabbed the nearest thing she could and hugged it like a vice, burying her head into it.
Naturally, the closest thing at the time was Hei, not that she had realised that yet.

For a moment, Hei froze, completely unsire what to do. He was not used to hugs...hell, he wasn’t used to getting this close to him unless they wanted to shank him.
Regardless of his confusion, Hei imitated what he had seen in books, and wrapped his arms around Lucy, hugging her back,
“Um...I don’t know w-what’s troubling you, but...I’m h-here for you now...it’s okay...” Hei murmured softly, flashing Rosa a look that clearly showed he had no idea what he was doing.

Soon realising what she was doing after her crying had started to stop, Lucy slowly pulled away, refusing to look anywhere near Hei and blushing heavily.
"I-I..." she squeaked, an utterly mortified look on her face. "I-I'm sorry!" she blurted out. "I d-didn't mean t-to do that, I... u-um... f-forgot you were there for a m-moment..."
She was lying through her teeth, but even she didn't know where the sudden inclination to attack-hug him had come from. She'd rather not know.
Wait a second...
That portrait she had started painting. She knew now why it looked so familiar. It looked like Hei.
She felt like she could curl up and die at this point, and prayed to whoever happened to be out there that the apparent subject of the painting didn't recognize what was on the canvas.
It was a rather futile hope.

Sam hadn't really gotten too far on his walk, him deciding to simply enjoy the sights when he turned and saw a sickly Ever jumping out of the window. Making a couple magnifying glasses, he melted some snow, and the water fell on a bucket, and then made his way to her.
"Are you OK, Ever?$" He asked "Need something?" With that, he made the bucket approach her.

Oliver was finishing up with the unpacking of what little he had with him, mostly a number of coats identical to the one he had recently taken off, and various metallic objects- ranging from knifes to forks to paperclips to a block of iron- sorted neatly in boxes underneath his bed. He was hanging up his last Ensiferum poster when Adrian burst through the door and threw bags onto the bother bed.
"Hey Adrian, I claimed this side of the room, if that's okay. I'm gonna go on a quick walk, just to see what's around."
With that, Oliver exited the room and walked through the dorms. He eventually came across Mike, Mikael, and Liam, all talking to each other. Oliver decided it wouldn't hurt to try to make more friends.
"Hey Mikael, what's up guys?"

Ever looked at Sam... just looked... looked a bit longer... till it got awkward..."I'm alright. I was just going to get a planter box for my room." She looked around a bit. "I suppose I wouldn't mind some help and some company if you would be willing to lend a hand." Making no mention of the conversation she was avoiding.

"You called?" Matten reappeared in front of Lucy hands on her hips. Though one might pay more attention to her absence of what can reasonably still be called a shirt for some decaying strands and generous hair. Her trousers were hardly in better shape, but they were still recognizable as pants. Of course, one might be distracted from even that by the blood dripping from the daeva's fingertips and the fresh cuts and bruises her barely-clad state exposed.
Matten leaned into the ink-woman. "If this is about your roommate, she's fine. At least, there aren't little bits of veggies of the ground. You must tell her that was an amazing exit by the way." She smiled then. "Or did you want something else when you cried out?"

Matten's sudden appearance made Lucy produce a barely audible high-pitched squeak of surprise, and she unconsciously glomped Hei again, except this time once she realised what she'd done she honestly couldn't care. Matten was in the room after all.
"C-Can you n-not do th-that?" she asked meekly, her voice a little muffled from her head being once again buried in Hei's shirt.
She had been suppressing the instinctive urge to simply melt away into a puddle of ink, and for the first time in what felt like forever she gave herself a mental pat on the back for that achievement.

"Not do what? Come when you call?!" the air very audibly bubbled and cracked around the daeva. "You're the second one in a row to call me then try and cast me away. Is there something I'm not in on? Did I just get the two who just like mocking me? Or do you just change your minds on every whim and think 'oh fine, she loves serving people, why not jerk her around'?!"
Matten stared hard at the girl, even if she had her face buried in—who was that? And did she go crying into his arms instead of mine? "You snuck a boy in?" She asked still icy. "His presence would indicate the latter." Though she seemed to calm, her growling even while staring the girl and her boy down indicated otherwise.

"Ah, Oliver." Mikael smiled softly at the boy with - wait, had he always had gills? Weird part of his power, probably. Mikael nodded at Liam and Mike. "These two were talking about throwing a party tonight. Without telling the staff, apparently."
He cast a sideways glance at Liam, having noticed the other boy's hesitation when he'd teasingly brought up telling the teachers.
What is so amusing about this? Why do you take lives? How can you forget?

"It's o-okay Lucy, I don't m-mind..." Hei replied, eyes darting from Lucy to anywhere else in the room, before focusing on a partially completed drawing that looked kinda like him. Hei was about to open his mouth and ask Lucy about the painting, but was interrupted by the appearance of another partially naked girl that popped into the room. A partially naked girl who seemed displeased with him and Lucy for some reason, as the timid girl promptly buried herself in his hoodie again.
"I'm sorry, I t-think there's a misunderstanding h-here." Hei spoke to the newcomer...Matten, if he heard Rosa correctly. "Lucy's not the type to mock a-anyone...and she didn't sneak me in. I a-arrived here on my own."
"M-my name's Hei Lin. I don't think we've met yet...um, Matten, right?" He continued, looking Matten in the eye as it was the safest place to stare at right now. "U-um, do you need something to stop the bleeding? I have some bandages and ethanol in my bag..." As Hei's arms were still around Lucy, A few black tentacles emerged from his shadow and began rummaging in his bag.

Lucy watched with envy as Ever effectively jumped out the window to escape the situation. She would have joined her if she was brave enough, but she quite liked having her spine intact, and she hadn't really used her transformation ability enough to trust it with her life.
So, to keep her mind off of that-mental-image-that-shall-ne'er-be-speaketh-of-again, Lucy headed over to the easel, picking up a brush and opening a few paintpots.
Without really thinking about what she was painting, simply visualising something pleasant and not instilling the urge to dive out the nearest window, she half-turned to Rosa with the same shy smile that she could not help but feel mildly frustrated by.
"S-So... what d-do you think so f-far? T-This school, I m-mean. A-And apart from th-the whole... you know what."
