Saint Academy - Science Class Mahvash had nigh-instantly clasped her hands on either side of Lucy's face—never mind how she closed the gap—the moment that she noticed the girl's face falling. "Now, now, little Lucy," she said, mimicking the soothing tone of a nanny from a Disney movie. "I'll watch over you." Then after a beat. "So, focus on keeping your health, and the class is full of people to help you." She twisted her hair into a proper chignon, before leaving the girl with a kiss on the forehead and whispering in her ear. "And keep your head held high. I'm sure Lin told you how much you contributed. You have alot to teach the newcomers and much higher to reach yourself. By the way, introduce yourself to the new students. Forgive me, I forgot to say, 'you may call her little Lucy Livingston, the one who pointed the way out of 'hell''."

"Eh, not really. I was just a bit tired from... everything. But I'm back at 100% now, baby!" Mikael gave Ellie a peck on the lips, before leaning over the bear carcass, drawing his knife. "I am, however, starving. No need to ruin the pelt, though. Could make a nice blanket or throw rug out of this."
And so Mikael began skinning the animal, efficiently slicing under and removing its fur. It took him under a minute to pull the pelt off, leaving the bear a skinless lump of meat.
Then he inhaled, before spitting fire at the bear. It roasted in hellfire near-instantly, smoldering to a nice smokey hue, before Mikael slapped the carcass hard enough to extinguish all of his own flames. Somehow.
"Ah, exquisite. I haven't had bear in ages." Sheathing his knife, Mikael tore a huge chunk out of the bear with his claws, before digging into it with gusto. "Mmmmph, oh yes, that's good." He mumbled through a mouthful. Swallowing, he gave a once-over to the burn marks he'd left on the classroom floor.
"Probably shouldn't have done that on Reinbach's floor." Mikael smiled. "But fuck it, he's a Nazi anyway."
Is this what this class is going to be like all the time...? (Mitch wonders out loud as he tries to ignore the sight of the dead bear being carved up. Not that odd things didn't happen in his old class or anything, but this really takes the cake.)
Saint Academy - Science Class Mahvash had seated herself, poised on her own desk when Mikael began his outdoor roast. "Mikael, your health is fine then." The observation was redundant. He was teleporting and male. But still... "Oh!" She folded her arms as an important bit registered. "And like I'd leave you lot starving." She didn't turn her nose up, eyes and antennae facing the potentially wild fire after all. "And the science teacher is a former Nazi. His allegiance has changed by now or so he says. Though Operation Paperclip did not work out for Shield. In any case, it would be your honor to aid in its removal." "And no," the daeva gives the new kid a small smile when he speaks. "I usually prepare foods, the good stuff with experience from the oldest civilizations onward. And today's the first day after our field trip."

...I... o-oh... Lucy stuttered, a hint of her old awkwardness leaking through as she suddenly seemed to find the woodgrain on her desk incredibly interesting. Nonetheless, a shy yet genuine smile was upon her face from Matten's words.
She had even got her hair styled in the process. How sweet.
Much to her relief, Hei arrived to distract from this little gesture of the daeva's, and she gave him a small wave though frowning as she noticed the bags under his eyes and the grogginess. At the very least she could say her antics had caused her to have an incredible sleep. But it seemed Hei wasn't in the same boat in that regard.
She desperately felt the urge to hug him and say that everything was all right now. Or at least, as all right as it could be. What with the bear and all... but in any case she didn't act on this desire due to class likely starting soon. That and a minor nervousness of doing so in front of the newcomers.
Speaking of, the older girl opposite them had been staring wide-eyed at the bear carcass, and her expression was a perfect descriptor of the train of incredulous expletives running through her mind.
What the #$&% what the #$&% what the #$&% what the #$&% what the #$&%...
Eventually as the shock faded she slowly dragged her gaze down to the charred state of the floor. Considering the rather ominous construction of the classroom plus that offhand 'Nazi' comment from the demon currently in the midst of devouring the now perfectly-roasted bear, it occurred in her mind that it would probably be in her best interest to prevent someone from getting detention.
Was the excuse she gave herself, anyway. In actuality she just really liked the floor.
And so she discreetly extended a finger towards it hand half-tucked underneath her arm as she rested on her desk as the burn marks on the floor seemed to evaporate away; the damaged layers peeling off like old paint and dissipating in the air. It wasn't immaculate, but it was an improvement.
If you want that carcass removed I can assist, she droned in a quiet monotone. She had a rather low voice for someone her age. I doubt teacher would be impressed.

Lucien's grin stayed plastered on his face even as the demons teleported in and got to carving up a bear carcass. The happiness and cheer in the minds of all nearby was replaced with chilly mortification as Lucien's eyes grew wide and blank, his blood chilling in his veins.
What have I gotten myself into...Class 1 is as bad news as it sounds...
He awkwardly lifted his hand which had stopped waving to the back of his head, rubbing sheepishly. The aura instantly switched to one of discomfort and anxiety
"This class's...uh...reputation precedes it, I see...ahaha...It's certainly...unique."
"If you say so," said Ellie. "Anyway, let's—"
Suddenly the door to the lab slammed open. Interceptor walked into the room with Laurie of all people at his side. And he didn't look happy.
"Mikael. Can I see you in my office? Right now? If you please."

(Mitch doesn't respond and simply nods. He can't help but agree with Lucian's opinion.)
(He starts to return to his doodles when the Interceptor bursts in.)

Science Classroom > Interceptor's Office
"Now? Okay, I guess." Mikael shrugs, and moves to follow Interceptor. Then he pauses, turns back to the bear carcass, and almost as an afterthought hefts the dead animal over his shoulder, using the other hand to grab the pelt.
"Probably should get these out of the classroom. Anyone wants bear jerky, just come by my dorm later."
He vanishes a moment, then reappears next to Interceptor, his hands now empty. "Okay, ready."
He gestures for Interceptor to lead the way.
Eventually they made it to Interceptor's office. It was orderly and sharp as the man himself. Everything was as orderly as could be. There wasn't a scrap of trash or an iota of clutter, and not a single pen or piece of paper was out of place. There weren't any portraits or decorations lining the walls. The closest there was was a small picture of a young child on his desk. But other than that, there weren't any distractions getting in the way of his work.
"Have a seat." Interceptor motioned Mikael to pull out a chair from the back of the room. Interceptor sat at his desk, with Laurie plopping down next to him. "Let me get right to it. After your little adventure yesterday, Matten went ahead and wrote up a detailed report. It gave me the gist of what went down, and is probably one of the most thorough reports I've ever seen. And yet, something felt off. Because when it came to anything involving you, it suddenly became just a bit more sparse. A bit more vague. As though there was something she was trying to hide. And I think I might have an idea."
Interceptor's eyes glowed orange as a holographic image shot out of them, and there was no mistaking it. It was Mikael's knife, splotched with blood. Exactly as it was before they cleaned it. Interceptor's eyes dimmed and the image quickly faded away, but Mikael no doubt got the idea. "So out with it. What exactly happened down there? And don't leave anything out."
"Well, I don't know how much detail Matten went into, but..." Mikael took a breath.
"First we encountered an alternate universe where Lucy turned villain, and killed a large number of people. We defeated her, and our Lucy struck the killing blow. Given the circumstances, not an excessive use of force, I'd say."
"Then, we found ourselves in a universe like our own, but a number of years in the future. Not particularly eventful - I think Lucy met her future children? I wasn't particularly paying attention."
"After that, we attempted to return home through the Abyss. My teleportation wasn't working, so we intended to find my mother, the demoness Amadea, and have her bring us home. We made it to my father's palace unaccosted, but once there ran into one of his... numerous wives." Mikael's face fell, anger playing across it, before he closed his eyes and returned to a stoic expression.
"We reached my mother's room, but were attacked. My mother was kidnapped, and a group of demons attacked us. In the ensuing fight, I killed one with a crossbow tipped with Mahvash's aura. The others cut their losses and ran. After that, we tracked down my mother, and I killed her captor with my knife. My mother brought us home, and that was that."
Mikael exhaled, inhaled again, breathing deep. "I understand if you want to discipline me for the use of lethal force. I suppose with the jailor-demoness, I acted without thinking. And yet, she was in the process of strangling my mother - and like with the evil Lucy, we could not detain her. There are no jails in the Abyss. So I... struck her down."
He gave Interceptor a firm look. "Is that satisfactory, Sir?"
Interceptor and Laurie exchanged a glance before Interceptor sighed, pinching the middle of his brow. "To be honest, I'm not exactly sure. Sometimes in this line of work, things happen. Generally speaking, we try our best to save the day without using lethal force, but there are times when it can't be avoided. Of course, maybe it could've been. But I wasn't there. So I suppose that I can't judge." He then gave Mikael a cold hard look in the eye. "However. Call it a hunch, but there's still one thing I want to be sure about. Laurie?"
By this point Laurie was wearing her glasses again, though she still looked a tad frazzled. She adjusted them, doing her best to look professional. Or at least as best she could. "Right. Like Intereceptor said, Mikael, sometimes things happen and there's just not much you can do. That's life. That said, what also matters is intent. And how you felt about it. I'm not gonna try to judge you or anything like that. All I wanna know is how it all makes you feel. Specifically killing those two demons. And if you're feeling any different than before you went into the Abyss yesterday."
Saint Academy - Science Class "My thanks," Mahvash tilted her head at the newcomer. Yes, usually she read updates thoroughly. She still had the email on her phone. Probably. Long night though. She didn't miss a beat while looking through her phone. "Our big red barbarian seems to have it covered though." "What impresses the teachers..." the daeva put a finger to her chin. "our Principal gave us a speech on 'inspiration'. For context, well, I was barely in the cafeteria, but its a really fun story." Although, he's fine with concealing glaring keystones. "Dr. Bozo takes offense to (public) challenges to his competence. Dr. Rienbach, I have yet to spend enough time with him for any 'do' or 'do not' observations." "If you'll leave the topic of teachers a moment," Mahvash had seated herself, perfectly poised, on the corner of Mitch's desk without actually walking from her own seat. "I like responsiveness," She rolled over, placing her face in her hands and staring at the boy with too large a smile. "and learning what I'm working with. You are here, and you're welcome here. Don't be afraid, if something's on your mind. In the early days, you can ask almost anything, unless you're in the court of Ahriman. But I already decided that I wouldn't use that style."
Well that wasn't helpful at all... Ebony thought with a sigh, looking over at the daeva with pursed lips and giving her a gentle psychic push in an attempt to pull her back out of Mitch's personal space and onto the floor still in the same reclining position, of course.
Well, that was... certainly information. In that case, I might ask you to be careful of invasion of privacy. Some don't deal all too well with that, she replied, otherwise impassive expression showcasing a few microbial signs of weariness at the daeva's antics.
Lucien's little spike didn't go unnoticed either, and the esper sharply turned to him. He would feel a light tapping on her shoulder despite her being on the other side of the room and if he turned around Ebony would be looking at him with a face mixed with both concern and many, many questions.

(Mitch nearly has a heart-attack upon seeing Mahvash suddenly now sitting at the edge of his desk. He didn't even see her move! He decides that she must be able to teleport, a power Mitch wishes he had instead of the one he has now.)
(He listens to Mahvash speak to him in silence for a moment before spitting out a small:) Uhh... (Before Lucian moves her off his desk. Mitch follows Mahvash with his eyes as she ends up on the ground beside his desk.)
Um...thanks? (He says.)
Sam just sighed a bit, but turned to Lin to give him a small thumbs up.
Matten, once again acting like a complete lunatic was to be expected, but it was better to do something to hold the place together.
"Sorry about that" He commented, trying to sound confident and reassuring "Look, guys, I won't lie, you are probably gonna end up involved in a big mess now that you are with us"
Looking up at the ceiling, he found a way of being eloquent.
"I don't know how in the world I am still anything approaching sane" Taking a shot at himself, he nearly chuckled "But the one thing I can advise you is to never lose sight of who you are, and who you want to be"
A small flash went by his eyes, and he felt a bit dizzy, but he tried to stay steady to let whatever that was have some effect.
"When I killed those two, I felt nothing." Mikael said, looking down at his own hand. "I suppose, being a demon myself, I should have empathized with them. But I have learned that demons turn on one another without a hint of remorse. I feel better, having left that horrid Abyss, and I do not regret my actions in the slightest."
Mikael's head rose, and he smiled. "Call me a psycho, or call it my nature as a demon, but as you said, Interceptor, some times lethal force is necessary. I don't allow such things to weigh on me. My locket helps - I have empowered it to assist with my emotional state - but I have always possessed a strong will to push past tragedy. If you're that concerned, Ms. Laurie, I can schedule an appointment with you, but know that I am quite fine."
He looked back to Interceptor. "Will that be all?"
"Mikael," said Laurie, "this new attitude of yours? Maybe it's because I'm not a demon, but to be frank, it's disturbing. Ellie's the same way, but at least she was born a demon. You weren't. I won't press it, but I am going to have you see me at least once a week starting tomorrow, at least for now. Because if you get any worse? Then that's when we may have to step in."
"What she said," said Interceptor. "I know demons are different than us. Most non-humans have their own standards and moral codes. But you didn't start out with them. And that's what's concerning. Nevermind what the Abyss can do to people. Anyway, you're dismissed. But we'll be keeping an eye on you. Understood?"
Saint Academy - Science Class Oh, she's psionic... Mahvash got the document up right before sliding off the table. Yep. "Oh my poor bum." She made a show of slowly standing and straightening and wiggling. "But, yes, you are very welcome." She put her face in her hands, smiling at the lad. "Yes, our time gets exciting. Tis the nature of our work. But you don't have to break." Which reminds me, Laurie should have taken that one. Mikael is not a constant, potential drain on morale, my patience, and the others' will to live. I thought iceboy had potential with the anvil thing. She did not answer Ebony. The statement was, after all, a challenge. It didn't beg an answer. "Its a journey," she said, giving Mitch a shallow curtsy. "And like yourself or anything, you have to assign it value and meaning. But I'm no teacher. We'll just share the same dorms." The latter, mundane statement meant quite a bit in her traveled background, but probably only to her.
O-Okay. (Mitch nods.) Hope it doesn't get too exciting...I'll try.
(He still can't help but wonder what the rest of this new class will say when he uses his superpower...if he uses it anyway. Maybe he can get away with not showing it for the rest of the semester?)
"I gathered as much from all the stories I heard about this class...but I thought they were all just inflated rumours for the sake of gossip. I see they're as accurate as they're told..."
The tapping on his shoulder caused his head to turn, staring back at Ebony.
"You're confused. I mean, wouldn't you have gotten the answer by now?"
The aura switched to one of slight smugness.
"The answer is simple. I'm an empath and reverse-empathy. Can't talk in peoples' heads or read their thoughts, but I can know how they think in terms of feelings and mental, and can project my feelings and mental state onto others. I can...alsomanipulatetheirfeelingsandmentalstate."
He said that last bit all in one, slightly hushed and rushed breath.
Why do I have to sound so villainous?
He then grinned again, as if he hadn't just said that he could manipulate the psyche of others.
"I'm also a telekinetic!"
Ebony's eyes seemed to widen a little at Lucien's rushed declaration, and he would feel whatever emotions present in her mind suddenly shoved down to someplace else. Now back to her impassive expression, she nodded to him slowly levitating a metre or two off of her seat for a few moments before lowering herself back down again.
Looks like we share something in common with that last one, she shrugged. I'd rather have empathy than this, though. It sounds a lot more interesting.
"Technically I was born a demon, but I won't push it." Mikael rose. "I suppose I'll see you later, Ms. Laurie."
And with that, he warped away.
Mikael reappeared at his previously-claimed desk, next to Ellie, and smiled.
"Sorry about that, lover. Interceptor was a bit disgruntled about that whole... escapade, yesterday. Apparently I have to start seeing the therapist now." Mikael rolled his eyes. "Like I need it."
The empath in the room would note that Mikael's cheerful, calm exterior was like a forcefield, concealing an undercurrent of bloodlust and rage. Like a normal human trying to hold back the demon within.
Mikael twisted his locket in his usual nervous twitch.
Saint Academy - Science Class Mahvash stared at Mikael a moment, having already returned to a perch on her own desk... without having taken a single step. "What do you mean 'a bit'?" she asked him. He had mentioned the therapist after all. It was a field of medicine. "A problem with your health? Do you need chicken soup?" To keep him welcome, she gave Lucien a thumbs up as well. It was ''not'' the first time she'd ever used that gesture. Besides, he might be helpful in a bit, given that rant. I wonder if that means he can't keep a secret. The daeva, of course, might have felt serene to the empath. The same serenity that a sheer void possessed but she radiated serenity along with wonder. It would be very easy to imagine that she'd keep the same untroubled mind and fascination with every detail were she serving the class breakfast or sushi slicing them. Though, at least she showed no bloodlust to speak of, even during the psychic prank.

An empath, huh? Sam just sighed, trying to look after Lucy and Lin, but trying to think of what to say was difficult.
How did he himself feel? It was a weird mix of confused, frustrated and worried, wondering what's on the future for everyone and feeling like his mind is not his anymore.
A flash of Gabriel drinking with his squad flashed, but he didn't falter. He had to be strong.
