(watches new Grinch trailers)
You know, I'll never understand why animated creature or animal characters feel the need to wear underwear sometimes, when for the most part they don't wear clothes!
If I had a nickel for every film where Emma Stone falls off a balcony... I'd only have two nickels, but weird that there's two of them.I don't like that they're doing yet another Seuss movie dressed up with pop culture references galore. But... anyone else not feeling it with the voice they're using? That... voice doesn't match the body to me. I mean, I suppose that sounds like an odd thing to say but it just doesn't match to me.
Yeah, that's a common feature I see with these Seuss movies is lace themselves with pop culture references that get dated.
I would have been fine if Benedict Cumberbatch used his real voice for the Grinch instead of some odd goofy voice.
If I had a nickel for every film where Emma Stone falls off a balcony... I'd only have two nickels, but weird that there's two of them.Oh good; another Dr. Suess movie nobody wanted or asked for.
Your momma's so dumb she thinks oral sex means talking dirty.Yeah, Cumberbatch is a fine actor but his american accent always feels totally off and he would sound much better if he was allowed to use his natural accent.
Funko announces their line of Pop! Figures for the Grinch movie!
And weirdly enough, this is our first look at Cindy Lou.
Actually, does anyone else think it's weird we haven't seen any other characters besides The Grinch and Max...?
Not really considering the only key characters to this story is The Grinch, Max and Cindy Lou Who.

I honestly wouldn't know. I have literally never seen that particular image until now...
That trailer irks me with the feeling that Doug Walker, Lindsey Ellis, the Mysterious Mr. Enter, I Hate Everything, or someone of the like is going to be all over it.
To be honest, I can't give a damn about this movie. I just want to watch a movie and enjoy myself which sadly, it doesn't look like it's going to be the case.
I am a big fan of the Cat in the Hat and How The Grinch Stole Christmas films, but this film is just... "meh"? I don't hate it but I keep on forgetting it exists. It seems redundant. Why spend $15 for a movie ticket when you can watch the classic special by just turning on your tv anytime in December (or buying it for, what, $5 probably)? At least the live action film had a gimmick of being live action.
I'd prefer to see a different Seuss adaptation if anything. Maybe Green Eggs and Ham? I read it for the first time recently and I know many like it.

Still waiting for that Sneetches movie.
Oh look at that, a new trailer!
Okay, so here are my thoughts.
I don't like the hip-hop version of the famous song very much. Someone please bring back the jazz version from the previous trailers.
I still don't know the purpose of the yak-reindeer thing.
At least he actually decided to add a beard to his Santa disguise this time around.
I still think this has potential to be So Okay, It's Average.
Is it really a requirement that Illumination Films have to strongly tie into a hip-hop artist as a headline?? I mean sure they have to do some things with this book that other adaptations never had, but ..... a hip-hop version of "You're A Mean One"?
I get the yak thing. He's most likely native to the Grinch's home, and he never leaves him alone. But he appears to just serve the same role as Max does, so he just seems needless.
CB's article sheds more light on the crew. Angela Lansbury is going to voice the Mayor of Whoville. Tyler the Great is performing the "You're a Mean One" cover with assistance of Danny Elfman, who I assume is composing the instrumental score.
Oh and you can rest easy knowing that Pharrell Williams is NOT going to perform a song in this movie! No no no no no nononononononono.
... he's the Narrator.
How many lines is he going to get? That was one of the complaints about Minions.
... what happened with Minions and people complaining about the lines? (I didn't see that one)
To fill in the Run Time, obviously.
From what I've seen of the Minions (which is only reviews of it), there's a Narrator that basically explains everything until they run into the first Non-Famous, Modern Humans. And that's a good 10-20 minutes of the beginning of the Movie.
OT: Yeah, I'm not a fan of the Hip Hop version of 'You're a Mean One' either. Hopefully they use a Jazz Version in there somewhere (even if it's just the end credits).
This has a chance of being passable (the loud snow joke I thought was funny), but I'll just stick with the Jim Carrey Version.

I think the reason I'm not as harsh on this as other people are is because I disliked the Jim Carrey version.
With that said, I still think this feels like typical Illumination. Hopefully it'll be halfway decent.
The cynical side of me wants to say that the yak is only there so there could be another cuddly plush-toy to market. 😅
As for the trailer...eh, I'm still not absolutely itching to see this movie. I cracked a smile a couple of times, but I'm still not completely sold on it.
"Okay, yeah, I guess Ollie fits the goofy sidekick role, but being a princess doesn't mean I spontaneously sing about everything, 'kay?"One thing I will give the trailer is that I really like the weird tech gadgets he's using to carry out his plan.
The Rube Goldberg sewing machine for the Santa suit, the candy cane with nets, star decorations with wrapping paper, the reindeer helicopter with a long pole carrying the bikes, and especially those wonky elastic stilts used for walking across the rooftops of the houses for Whoville feels very much like the type of odd devices you'd find in Seuss' works. IMO it's inspired in a genuinely good way that offers a interesting spin on the existing story.
I also do like the stinger in the trailer that hints towards his soft spot by letting Max and the reindeer sleep in his bed. That Max "taught" the reindeer to do the puppy eyes got a genuine laugh out of me.
It's things like that which give me some hope this film will actually be a cut above most of Illumination's works.

has a clue, but it's usually not the correct one 0.55% of the timeEgad the film is opening in just over 2 weeks already!? This release date just crept up on me! It seems it was yesterday when we were complaining that we didn't need another Grinch adaptation! aaaaah the good old days.
And not make a lot of money on a successful children's book, with a relatively cheaply animated movie? Why that's just plain stupid!
(What a wonderful page topper. )
