Matten took the lad's 'don't treat me like a kid' line—him and a thousand others this month—and cocked her head, "You are a kid, lad. That's why you get lee-way. But, I don't know that officer. Probably knows me though. Like you should."

Then the sound of even more gunfire drew the kid towards the sound without even looking left or right or even avoiding the windows. Well, he added 'stay here.' Interest! "Almost child, and much better than clown. And I gave you the favor, I'll let you fight for me." Matten gave one last glance to the wide-eyed and hogtied kid-milites, winking at them before walking out of the room. "I'll be back. Don't miss me too much. And you were so helpful. Thank you very much!"

Matten left the room. "Second floor of the other building. I really hope you're right!" And they were! As soon as she reached the second floor of the other building she spotted the the MASH brothers.

"Hello, friends!" Matten beamed, stretching out her chain. "So, which of you would like to apologize first? I affirm, no grievous harm will come to you." Matten cocked her head. "Well, if you're apology is good enough, I'll take your device there, and let you run out of here." Right past that generously armed, armored officer who I probably can't blast these two out of the window in front of, or swing from a wall, or...

A gang fight? Really? Aurelia worked for the Bureau of Superpowered Threat Prevention. This was beneath her pay grade. Still, an assignment was an assignment, and assignment or not, she wasn’t about to let civilians get caught in the crossfire.

That was the plan, anyway, but when she arrived at Kirby Row, she noticed a distinct lack of gunfire, which completely contradicted the reports she got. Either her intel was bad or she was late to the party, and from the scattered bullet holes in the surrounding buildings, she was willing to bet it was the latter.

Slithering up to Hood, who she kept running into lately, and a man she vaguely recognized as a member of URGENT... Rampart, was it, Aurelia attempted to gather information.

“Agent Aurelia Trenchold, BSTP. Can either of you tell me what happened here?”

Matten kept her smile, eye twitching slightly. "Crying woman, is it..."

"Hey, Aurelia!" Matten beamed at the Mermaid. "So, nice to see you again. Well, you were probably here the whole time, but I confess that I wasn't looking under everything." She nopped at the officer.

"We haven't met, and I'm pretty sure your not here for me, so, you should probably know that those boys there..." Matten pointed at the pair of gang stars—sans weapons—bound and swinging just below the window in a very stable looking duct tape hammock "and their little friends around here were playing the hot lead kind of chicken. Just trying to scare each off. By what I saw, it should've worked far sooner. In any case...."

Matten turned away from the duo briefly. "JEFFREY!" She winked at her compatriots. "Uh, I meant to say cover your ears. Need to call my ride."

Destitution Drive, Building

Sister Strigoi paused as she looked over the Tiburones she had inadvertently mind-controlled and considered her options.

She could leave them here, let it fade in time. But if the Aviones found them here, would they hesitate to eliminate their rivals?

She could wait here with them, but then she couldn’t warn the Aviones. If this mysterious woman caught wind of them trying to get into her house, someone would end up dead.

Unless they all left together. But that would just make them a target.

“Are you capable of taking me to the lot where the house appeared?”

“The rest of you, go to a safe location. Not the same one, obviously. Go in small enough groups that nobody will notice. Stay safe. If something goes wrong, contact -“

She glanced at the leader.

“- pardon me, but what is your name?”

At the very least, the people that he'd rescued had listened to his instructions. Since they were no doubt safe and secure in a different area, he could leave.

This was a great source of relief for Singe, since he didn't actually have to write a police report or anything. Technically he should, but he'd popped in and transported some people. Nothing to write home about, and he hadn't really gotten involved, had he?

Walking out of the building, he found himself suddenly standing in a gathering of a bunch of people. One who looked like some kind of odd fairy tale character, a mermaid, someone in enough armor to make him glad the guy looked peaceful right now, and Matten.

Wait, Matten?

She was calling for her driver, apparently, which was fine by him. He'd heard about enough of the stuff that she got up too on the news to know that she was bad news. So instead, he glanced at the gang members she had mentioned.

And oh lord, they were hanging by something that looked like it would break at any moment.

"Shit, shit, shit!" Ignoring everyone else, Singe ran over to them and raised his hands. Another flaming gateway appeared, this time below them. He held the position, sighing in relief.

If they fell, they'd end up in a police station jail-cell. It wouldn't be the most comfortable landing either, but it would beat being dead.

Singe was indeed in time as the duct tape finally snapped under the combined weight of the two whining hoods. Luckily the portal made them fall only a few feet before they hit the ground.

A short while later, after confirming the situation had been neutralized, Rampart called the MP units that were waiting for his signal just outside the area. The patrol cars came in and began arresting the gangbangers.

Meanwhile, the Tiburones' leader, Bernardo, lead Strigoi out through another exit into the street. However they can be clearly seen by the other characters.

Noting that everyone seemed to be congregating in the street, Chroma decided to follow suit.

Walking out of the building, he saw the cop he noticed earlier talking to a snake-woman ? Scratch that, an eel woman? Whatever she was, she looked like she'd bite Chroma's everything off, she he filed her under "People To Avoid," along with the Emo Angel he had recently met. There was also a girl in a red hood, though she seemed a bit nervous.

Seeking for a way to avoid that whole situation, Chroma looked for the nun he had seen earlier, assuming it was Sister Strigoi. He spotted her, without much difficulty, she was walking out into the open with a large man.

Upon determining that was Strigoi, he made her way over to her. "Hey Sister, nice weather we're having, huh?"

Destitution Drive

Sister Strigoi brightened upon seeing her one-time partner.

“Chroma! Lovely to see you. This is Bernardo, he’s under my thrall. Not that I like doing it, but we’re investigating a mysterious wealthy woman with a teleporting house, and this was the most efficient way to do it.”

Matten, already leaving, smirked at the whining baby gangsters. In a lot filled with supers, like chocking in a hospital. Chances were you weren't going splat...

Right on cue, Jeffrey's news van came around the corner—without Jeffrey. Oh bugger... "Ms. Jephson, how do you do, dear."

She had an amazing pursed lip expression, which neither Matten nor her own flesh apparently could picture her without. "Banu," she started. Here we go... "You know you still have make good on...." she rattled out a list of devotional stuff and...

"Hey, your fruit tree is alive. I saw to that! You sent me a picture with a heart on it, last V-D." Matten had abandoned any pretense of dignity and was pointing a finger at her devotee.

"The city tore it out for the new sidewalk!"

"I'm not the mayor!"

"Don't daeva cursepeople who mess with their sacred places?"

"That's the Olympians and that tree is not a sacred place!"

After a gasp, Ms. Jephson gave Matten the puppy dog eyes. "You mean we're not special to you..."

Cheating, little...' "Ms. Jephson, just show up and one of the Usij will walk you through getting a new tree. Not my department."

The back and forth went a while before Ms. Jephson made her real question, "So, we need a day of rest or two."

"What, you need me to sign something? I'm pretty sure that holidays don't work like that, and getting a tax-exempt hotel was already arduous..."

"Try?"

"....Just, go find me good lawyer, and we'll see." Matten waived the lady off, happy to be done...with... her ride. Bugger.

Well, during that bit, Matten had been ignoring some of the baby-gangsters doing a zombie walk it seemed, following a nun. Captain Punk ignored them just as well, but hurried after the nun. Oh, they found religion. The daeva with the halo wasn't good enough...still... Matten had already gone after the lad. Loose ends and all that.

What she didn't miss was mention of a thrall and a teleporting house. Ok, it can wait... In a silent flash she was behind Captain Punk. "Oh, you're alive. Very good, kid."

"What's this about a thrall? What did you do the lad, and where did you find the time? Unless Yahweh does that now. Is that a thing?"

At the distance, Hood noticed a nun going somehwere with one of the hoodies. Besides them were two people: a superhero and... Matten? She has been seeing her a lot as of lately. Perhaps fate draws the together... and Yu-Na was not sure what to feel at the prospect of that.

Nevertheless, she flew up to nun team and asked them a question: "Um.... I'm sorry to interrup. May I ask what is your goal here? And... can I be of any help?"

Destitution Drive

Sister Strigoi froze up when someone suddenly showed up, a woman surrounded by a beautiful, unnatural black halo. For the first time in a long time, she felt something like awe.

She didn’t let that stop her from answering the woman’s queries.

“It’s temporary. I would not be doing this if it wasn’t to stop a gang war and investigate potential supernatural goings-on. And if you hurt him, I will return every injury you make upon him unto you.”

Almost as an afterthought, she added “And leave my Lord out of this.”

“Feel free to come,” she said to Chroma. To the newcomers, she added “I don’t know who you are, but if your intentions are good, you may accompany us.”

Strigoi and her entourage finally arrived at a lot near the end of Destitution Drive.

In there, was indeed an old wooden house. It stood out among the other buildings, but only because it was made of wood; everything else here looked so bad it almost blended in.

"...This is the place" the mesmerized Bernardo said.

Currently the front door and windows were closed.

Aurelia pointedly ignored the comment that Matten had clearly intended to provoke her with, before noticing that she and Hood both broke off to follow a nun with a quickly forming entourage. She highly doubted any regular nun would be in a place like this, so it was probably the vampire she’d been getting reports on. Best to follow from a distance for now.

They stopped at an out of place wood house, clearly attaching some significance to it. None of them seemed to be hostile, and she wasn’t learning anything by hanging back, so as much as she loathed interacting with Matten, this was her cue to approach the group. Seeing as the vampire was clearly the head of the pack, she introduced herself to her first. While flashing her badge, obviously.

“Hello, I’m BSTP Agent Aurelia Trenchold, codename Depth Charge. I take it there’s something special about this house?”

House in the Abandoned Lot

Sister Strigoi patted Bernardo on the shoulder.

“You’ve helped us enough for over day. Go somewhere safe. Home, if you have one. And if you or your comrades ever need aid, come to Saint Catherine’s Cathedral. I’ll be there.”

She turned back to her erstwhile companions.

“I’m going to look for a way in. Are any of you brave and durable enough to try the door?”

When Aurelia introduced herself, Sister Strigoi smiled politely.

“We’ve reason to believe the house is supernatural in nature and the homeowner is kidnapping young men and boys.”

"Oh, look, the set from Halloween Resurrection," Matten eyed the wooden trap eagerly. "Matches up nicely with Ladies who give away money no-strings-attached."

She just happened to closer to Captain Punk—Chroma than the kid though, so he was the one who get washed with Matten's aura. "There you go kid—er lad. You get to escort us inside. Can't let anything happen to Sister Strap's elegant little mug. It's all that she's revealing to the world, and you don't have noble's cheekbones. Any doctor could patch those up. Good luck!"

Chroma was slightly confused by the woman's remarks, both towards his friend and his cheekbones, but he decided to not dwell on it, there were much more pressing things to see to.

He looked towards the house and shrugged."Well, looks like I'm up."

He walked towards the house and knocked, not exactly knowing what to expect.

For a moment, there was no response after the young hero knocked.

Then, slowly, the door began to open, with a creaky noise.

From behind it, a smiling, kind-looking old woman dressed in raggedy clothes came out. Honestly, she looked like a bag lady.

"Yes, what is it?" she asked, still smiling. Her voice had a kind of foreign accent to it.
