"And now 'witch woman'..." Matten bore her teeth, wings striking at the air around her.
"By the way, kid," Matten carefully unhooked her arm from her escort. "Watch your mind. He thinks he's the vampire. Although, I still wonder whether she actually thralled them or... oh nevermind. Have fun, watch your mind, and don't do anything I wouldn't do! And leave him to live. I have display plans for him."

The man who sleeps with a machete is a fool every night but one."AHH!!" the old man shouted after being seared by the light beam. 32- Soak 4= 72 Hits left
This time, Semutary gave up all semblance of civilization; he just grumbled under his breath, then shouted, "Come to me!!!" Animation: only affectes dead bodies
Suddenly, the floorboards around him smashed open, and three cadaverous-looking men arose from the floor.
"Get him!!" he shouted, and the trio attacked the colorful young hero.
One of the zombies took a swing at the boy, and it looked like he had been hit, but he stumbled, just in time to cause him to miss. Attack 14, Defense 9, rerolled with Dumb Luck Advantage = 30

"You're doing terribly at convincing me to spare your soul..." Matten just paused on flicking her fingers, watching Chroma hit the doomed baron square center of mass. Still it only seared the man.
"Oh k—Chroma, I know your beam cuts down all in its path, but how about you take one of my gifts. It'd make me happy!" she chirped. "And I've known you the longest." She leaned into the boy's face. "And its my wings you'll be under when the zombies get hungry. Just take me hand and say yes and fire like usual." Matten stared at him with glinting eyes.

Magpie ultimately decided to land on the roof of an adjacent building when the person didn't reappear. She pulled out a cell phone from her pocket and dialed 911. She made her voice deeper and more mature.
"Excuse me, I was just on a rooftop and I saw a person fiddling with an antennae with a bundle. And then he or she bolted. Could you send a bomb disposal team to check this out?"
She then gives the adress of the building with the bomb on it.

I wear the skin of the Elder Things, having come unto my own.Chroma took Matten's hand and looked at Semutary.
"Stop your crying, rudeboys don't cry, that's what I hear"
He fired a light beam at Semutary, but this time, it was like two beams of light; one of golden light, the other was of dark purple, the two spiraled together towards the old man.

The man who sleeps with a machete is a fool every night but one.Damage 44 - Soak 7 = 37, he has 35 points left
The combined forces struck the zombie master, who howled in pain! In fact, he was knocked off the chair, to the other side of the room! knockback 44 - 10 = 30 feet
He started shouting profanities in Jamaican, but stopped as he realized something:
His powers were gone! Nullification level 5, Mind Contest 55 vs 33
"NOOO! WHAT HAV YOU DONE! SPIRITS! DO NOT FORSAKE MEEE!!" he screamed.
He then got up -wobbly- and began running towards a door on the back side of the room (that the blast had conveniently knocked him near to)
Meanwhile however, the zombies continued following their last command: attacking Chroma!
However, thanks in part to the protection offered by Matten's wing, its attack missed! Attack 12, Defense 18

Magpie was getting pretty good at sounding like an adult.
The 911 call center attendant knew about the bomb threat, but was told not to assume every call was genuine. Still, she felt she could not take the risk. Better safe than sorry
"OK, we're sending an unit right now" was her response.
As Magpie finished her call, she could spot something: a group of people in tight clothing, carrying weapons, and breaking into a nearby building via the rooftop!

Good Herbs
"Tch,'' Matten glared at the fleeing baron. "Can you not guess? You violated the rule of hospitality and was entertaining me and my stubbornly-sideways follower most aware..." In an instant she sidestepped through a special path in spacetime, ending up in front of the door. "It's only proper that I burn you in turn in your very home."
Direct Traverse—in front of Baron Semutary
"Whoops," she added not at all apologetically as she lazily raised a hand and flicked her finger, a wisp of her khvarenah gusting out toward the ingrate.

"And thou has escaped me..." Matten wrinkled her face at the Baron taking his nap before he got his due. "for now. Don't think that I'm done with you, and for having to repeat myself thrice...I'll think of something." But you did let me exercise my true form, and well, someone had too.
She hastily wrapped the man in duct-tape, mummy-style before dragging him back to Chroma—who was currently feeding a zombie. "Dear, I'm sure you're not supposed to feed the wildlife." She brushed her hair back, dropping the Baron to the floor non too carefully. "But do not fret. I'll grant you relief. I am, after all, right here, not some light in the sky."
Matten put a finger to her chin briefly. "And don't panic," she traversed straight up and over the mob, before putting a finger to her lips. "Though I wash you with my essence, you have my protection." And I wish I was really as sure as I sound... Matten's twisting her Khvarenah into benign and annihilating paths at once did no favors to her body. Still, she bit her lip so as not to panic the boy.

Entirely unnecessarily—though she'd never tell Chroma that, Matten spat some into a hankerchief and held the boy's arm fast while rubbing it over the afflicted area—her Khvarenah doing the actual work. "Now, hold still kid. And now I know to get you the Zombie Survival Guide for your birthday anniversary." She tensed a bit. Second advent or no, she still hadn't been at her peak for a couple millennia. "And maybe some ointment for the today thing..." She scowled more to herself. That came out far more strained than it was supposed to.
Push (-10 hits, 70) power stunt: raw boost, affect others (increase toughness)—linked to restore 5
"Ow, shit that hurts shit shit ow god- wait, I'm good now. Thank Matten."
Chroma- now lacking the rot- pulled out some orange slices and a water bottle from his pocket and took a little break.
Healing, 7 x 3 = 21 hits recovered, at 100 now
"Better. Yeah, my birthday's on April 12th, by the way. We're not any closer to finding that bomb, though, and all we know is that we don't know nothin'.
"
Matten nopped to the lad. "Of course." She lacked for water bottles but took a seat on the baron's still breathing for now form. "I suggest towing behind me. We're going to request from the two outside a small favor." She pointed her head towards the crumbled baron. "And he's going to be the fun part."
regeneration: restore 18, 70+18 —>88 hits.
Matten made easy the task of determining what had gone on inside. She hurled the mummy-wrapped baron out of the door ahead of her. She did not add 'go long', as he landed just outside of them, at their feet.
Grinning, Matten put both hands on her hips. "Greetings and regards. We just met, and if you admit that you don't know me....anyway, you could annoy me with a bunch of denials and nonsense like that one did," she nodded her head toward her home made mummy, "or you could be dears, and help a godly woman hoist him up that telephone pole there," she pointed out the first near one she saw, "And make sure he's dangling by his underwear. Then call your group's number two, send the child a nice picture of our display, congratulate him or her on the promotion and hopefully he or she will understand the benefits of helping South Town deal with its zombie problem—and whatever else you might have fingers in."

Look with century eyes... With our backs to the arch And the wreck of our kind We will stare straight ahead For the rest of our livesThe Posse member, were he in his right mind, would never consider such a command, not from a stranger. He knows it would have meant his death.
But he was now under the influence of -ironically- his own master's stolen hypnotic power. His mind became confused, and somehow concluded that this was exactly what The Baron wanted done.
And so he picked up the struggling old man, carried him to the pole, and strung him up.
The other Posse members -to say nothing of passersby- were totally baffled by this. But no one questioned it. Perhaps Matten's own presence helped; was she now, The Master of New Kingstown?

Matten clapped and hopped like an over-eager kid on a trip. "Oh, thanks so much! Remind me before I travel again. You have rewards coming!"
In a quick shuffle of steps through her own special path, she was seated on the telephone pole, patting the bound man on the head. "So, how's it hanging?" At his look, she shrugged and made a small smile. "If I hadn't, my child there would have."
She clasped her hands together and leaned into the man. "So, care to point me in the direction of your number 2? He's due a promotion in about 5 minutes, because...reasons," she gave the man a meaningful glance before psuedo-shyly looking away. "The resume doesn't take too much, just a man with a simple grasp of hospitality and who would be willing to take this latest not-quite alpha tested product off the streets pending some quality control, and maybe some gratitude for letting him keep making a living at all. I know the old boss has some experience in matters, but..."
Matten looked left then right before leaning in as if she were telling a secret. "he's had an accident. And he's proven troublesome. I can only wonder what would happen to him the next time he made such a fatal error. So, what say you, my dear man?"
regeneration, 88+21=100
The Suggestion's effect faded from the Gangsta Gangbanger, and suddenly he realized what he had done, and he blanched. Matten asking him if he wanted to succeed Semutary -right where the latter could hear it- did NOT help matters.
On the pole, the Baron was visibly raging- but then, he suddenly calmed. He sighed, then said:
"Very vell, Goddess Womon. You win. My apologies for using my hoodoo on you. But hey, just wanted to solve things without violence, can't blame an old man for that, eh?" (flashes smile)
"How about this. You leave me alone, and I swear, I will make sure the Juju drug is taken off the streets. No more zombie addicts. Honestly? It was a bad idea anyway. How about dat? Oh and neither I nor my men will ever bother you or yours."
Matten cocked her head, then quickly returned a grin of her own. "Give me your hand," she stared at him. "Oh right. Well," she patted the man on the head, "good boy. Guess, I'll let you be. Remember quality control, and I have it name it would please you to know, piñata man."
"And yes, I can certainly blame you. I still do." She made a slow descent from the pole, "Take care."
Detect Deception—(8*4=36), noticed telling the truth.
Matten made a quick nod toward the shaking mook, folding her arms and leaning into his face. "I'm thinking of keeping you, unless you'd rather stay here and help him down." Matten gave the mook a thin smile. "I bet he'll understand."

Look with century eyes... With our backs to the arch And the wreck of our kind We will stare straight ahead For the rest of our livesQuick Detour: From Baron's Place to Hotel
Victory! Despite shouting in her head, Matten limited her outward expression to a small smirk. Taking both her new follower, and her stubborn-not-yet-admitting-it follower, she traversed with both of them in tow. In a quick detour, she dropped the man off on her hotel's roof.
"Okay, I called. They have a room for you, and Jeffrey will show you the ropes and you will tell him about your affairs." She put a finger to her chin. "I suppose you could cause trouble, while I'm gone, but that just means that I get to try out shrinking you and dangling you over the fish in the park. Maybe Aurelia too." Her expression changed to sunny in an instant. "But don't worry about any of that. Go and see! There's racquetball in the lobby, but call me if you come up with something first, and yes, you're on first name basis with your daeva. Make use of it."
Above Megan's Bay—Approaching Bradbury Heights—In a stable flight path for once
"And now on final approach to—another part of this city!" Matten mustered up quite some excitement for that announcement, albeit, she didn't pump her fist in the air as she had her arms wrapped around Chroma like a teddy bear. She hadn't really responded to his earlier statement. That...that was mean... The thought never left her head, though while she had the mook to care for—who, in at least one sign of his nervousness had yet to give a name.
"Do you see anything, Flashfinger? Or hear anything? Alerts? Scanner? Heart grinding, callousness?"

Unfortunately for the offended goddess, luck wasn't with her at the moment- the power-sapping light of her mirror fell short of its target. Attack roll 7, Defense roll 12
The Baron, however, noticed the meaning of her actions with his arcane knowledge Occultism/Rituals x4, roll 12, Target Number 10
The old man suddenly stood, and snorted furiously.
"You DARE attack on my own house, Witch Womon!? You will pay for that!!"
