What constitutes long, elaborate in Short Title: Long, Elaborate Subtitle? E.g. the two examples for Comic Books and Fanfiction don't strike me as overly long.

Off-hand, I'd say at least twice as long as the short part, both in word count and character count.

Yeah, there are some I don't think fits, like Through The Ages: A Story Of Civilization. The main title isn't that short, and the subtitle isn't that long. If the main title was just something like "Ages", or if the subtitle were twice as long as it is (or longer), it would fit.

If twice as long counts, why wasn't the trope called Short Title:Longer Subtitle?

Cause it’s longer?

Seriously some of these titles are absurd like ‘Shimoneta: A Boring World Where the Concept of Dirty Jokes Doesn't Exist.’

[up][up]I don't see how that name would make any difference. Not to mention, you base that entirely on my off-hand interpretation of the trope, which has nothing to do with the people who named it and wrote the description in the first place.

[up]It's not absurd. It's a typical example. Not really about relatively shorter titles, but where the subtitle is a long sentence, sometimes consisting of several subclauses.

This trope could use a hard definition on what counts as a short title and a long subtitle. I propose two words or less (not counting "The") for the main title, and at least five words for the subtitle.

Should this go to TRS?

If the subtitle is supposed to be "elaborate", I don't think five words is enough.

Bigotry in the name of inclusion is still bigotry.

Isn't having a subtitle already a trope? Pretentiously long subtitles with 10 words of more could be a subtrope of it.

Should this thread be moved to TRS?

Yeah, there's certainly a difference between something like Chang: A Drama of the Wilderness and something like Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan.
