What is Child Mage?

Laconic is: "The Tagalong Kid can do magic!"

Main description requires that they be the main mage in a work... Which was only argued about, without resolution, 6 years+ ago...

Playing With's Basic Trope, awhiIe ago, I changed from "The spellcaster of the team is also the youngest member." to "A spellcaster is also a pre-teen." following my discussion on the age range of a Child Mage.

Is there a connection with Cute Witch?

It's linked from the Playing With, and most examples are adolescents or younger?

Its just a pre-teen who can use magic, said magic is the excuse why they are even around and if in an RPG the excuse for why they are a playable character.

Cute Witch is pretty much an inversion of Wicked Witch, shes cute, young and knows magic. It was built into the original version of the Magical Girl genre in the 60s and 70s and were inspired by Bewitched but aimed at kids.

An example can be both but to be a Cute Witch you gotta have a witch motif with the broom and wand and such. [1]
