Okay, so I've made progress on the second dungeon.
I love Heimsay. He's a cool bat creature knight. Awesome. So he's like the Teddie and Morgana token non-human teammate right? Granted, none of us so far are humans and the Elda is a human looking non-human.
Then again, Morgana and Teddie were personas given form so unless Heimsay is secretly an archetype in mortal form, then there's one Atlus trend not followed.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Hmmmmm I feel like your egging me on to think more about this.
Regardless, I don't have any evidence so far that any of the party members are personas. But that may change.
Heimsay def can't be because he had a kid, Strohl and Hulkenberg are ruled out because they have backstories involving a childhood, and we see the traveling boy as a kid with the prince in flashbacks, so he can't be an archetype.
But still too early, and I think you know something I don't.
Hmmmmmmmm....I do see someone's backstory having certain holes under scrutiny, though.

"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"I haven't really looked too closely at the game's rating, but I'm both surprised and not surprised that Mara isn't in this game.
Surprised because Mara is one of the most popular demons in the Megami Tensei franchise.
Not surprised because Mara is, well, Mara.
"I squirm, I struggle, ergo I am. Faced with death, I am finally, truly alive."![]()
This isn't exactly the same world as a typical SMT/Persona game so I can see why Mara and other traditional demons aren't showing up.
More unique monsters.

"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Given a certain reveal later in the game, I kind of wish that the elemental dragons of Etrian Odyssey were superbosses in this game. I suppose we did get a dragon superboss at least...
"I squirm, I struggle, ergo I am. Faced with death, I am finally, truly alive."Gotta admit I hate seeing the usual antiwoke grift going around Metaphor. First it started with the fake whining about translations and then acting like progressive views haven’t been in many JRPGS for years even when those games have their own problematic elements.
Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.![]()
I know how you feel. I've mostly stopped reading people's reviews on games in general because I dislike running into those "antiwoke grifters," and I don't really see much value in reading people's reviews nowadays, especially since online commenters in general are shit at media literacy and giving constructive criticism, AND because I don't really find them all that helpful in giving me an idea on how much I'll like a game because we likely have different likes and dislikes.

"I squirm, I struggle, ergo I am. Faced with death, I am finally, truly alive."People pretend that games like Final Fantasy X and Tales of Symphonia weren’t about racism
Considering this game has a brown skinned protagonist AND talks about diversity, it’s no wonder outrage tourists are trying to get their takes in.
I feel like if FF X came out today, it would be subject to the same anti-woke grifters.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"I saw the one chud take about this game so mind-boggling that one can only pray it's satire: the protagonist of this JRPG isn't muscly and masculine because of modern Western devs tainting Japanese aesthetics. Please let that sink it. (I think it also had something to do with Hulkenberg being taller than him, but that point stood out for obvious reasons.)
Does anyone actually read these? There’s a lot of dumbasses out there who think Japan is like this fascist paradise that keeps out foreigners, teaches women their place, men reign supreme, and shows the superiority of conservative values.
So this is why you see takes like that. Fascist weebs can’t have anything that challenges that image they are trying to sell.
I know this one certain dumbass in You Tube who proclaimed that Japanese cinema is doing better than “woke Hollywood” because they aren’t poisoned by politics, then failed to name a single modern Japanese movie he actually liked.
It’s called outrage tourism for a reason.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"Shoutout to Kotaro Uchikoshi, who made a habit to roleplay as a 15-year-old girl from California on Twitter after grifters said that's the only type of person who'd put a nonbinary character in their game after he clarified a minor NPC as they/them.
Does anyone actually read these? On a positive note, I was pleasantly surprised the game did have the guts to make a game about fantasy racism and discrimination, and have a brown-skinned protagonist be the lead. It makes the scenes where he's discriminated for being an Elda actively have some more bite than it would have.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"

That's just the Nidia eyes, yeah they're unsettling but I think in junah's case it adds to the retro look she's got going on. She looks like a late 60s/early 70s shojo character.
