Greetings, mortals! A mischievous god has decided to create a magical board game! (Hey, I said mischievous. I didn't say creative). You are one of a small group has has chosen to play test his new board game, which he calls 'Test!' (see previous comment about lack of creativity)

Like Jumangi, the game creates magical effects that alter reality around you. You will have to survive to reach the end of the game. Once you have, all effects are erased. Wonder awaits you all in the game of TEST!

Rules for TEST the game:

Players each take a turn, in order. Once all the players have gone, the first player takes a new turn, then the second player, and so on. The turn order cannot be altered unless a card says otherwise. Cards consist of three types: QUEST, BEST, and PEST. Each player is assigned a number, from two to five. If you roll your number, you get a BEST card, which grants you an ability or item for the duration of the game or until you somehow lose that card. BEST cards may be transferred, sacrificed, or lost but may not be stolen by other players. On a one or a six, you get a QUEST card. The QUEST card will assign a task that you must complete before you can go again in game, but you can get help from other players or from outside the game. Any other number results in a PEST card, a negative effect which may only effect you or which may effect everybody. The game ends when a player has completed three (this number may change) quest cards. Each player will start with a BEST card already.

Rules for TEST the RPG: (Heavily inspired by the single page rpg "Lasers and Feelings")

At the beginning of the game, chose a number from two to five.

TWO - Some say you're a cynic, you say you're a realist. You are very good at real world skills but have trouble dealing with the 'silliness' of this game.

THREE - You are practical. You are good at real world skills, but aren't a complete failure at dealing with the game's magic.

FOUR - You are imaginative. While you are a bit inept at real world skills, you adapt easily to the magic of the game.

FIVE - You are a dreamer. You are basically inept at the real world, but in this game... You're a wizard, (your name here)!

That will also be the 'best' number for you in the game.

Most of the RPG is what you do while trying to complete the quests. The magic of the game makes it so noone outside the game will believe you if you tell them about the game, but you can still get help. When you want to try to do something that is significant or carries a reasonable risk of failure, you roll a number of six sided dice, normally just one die.

For each of the following circumstances, you can get an additional dice to roll:

  • Someone does a successful 'help roll'. Help rolls will be explained later.
  • Your character is skilled in this field. (Example: Ace Driver would roll an extra dice for driving a car)
  • You are using a BEST card granted tool in a GM approved way. (Example: Using the Axe of Mondor to cut the rope would mean rolling an extra die. Using the Butter Churn of Mondor would NOT help you cutting a rope)
  • You have prepared (You must have previously role played doing something in preparation for this task. The GM may decide something happens while you are preparing, you cannot just automatically assume your preparation succeeds)

Once you have rolled the dice, count up the number of successes. Each die showing your number counts as two successes. If using a real world skill, each die showing higher the your number counts as one success. If using an in game skill or trying to deal with a magical situation, each die lower then your number counts as a success.

One success: Minor success. You manage to do what you are trying but the GM may add a complication.

Two successes: Success. The car starts fine, your bullet hits the target. Whatever you wanted to happen, happened about as your expected it.

Three of more successes: Amazing success. Whatever you expected to happen, this was better.

Zero successes: You failed. Expect a consequence.

To roll a help roll, explain what you are doing to help that person and roll one die. if you roll your best number, they get to add one success to their total after they roll. Otherwise, if you are using real world skills, they get to add a die if you roll above your number. If you are doing something involving the game, they get to add a die if you roll below your number.

If you are interested, submit the following information:

Character Name: Number: (Two, Three, Four, or Five) Character's Job: Back story: What plus would you like to start with:

Plus cards can be weapons, magical skills, or just an animal companion.

Ooh, this looks very interesting.

Character Name: Tristan Delcroix

Number: Four

Character's Job: Chef/barista

Back story: Tristan works at a coffeehouse, attending the nearby college to earn his culinary degree. He hopes to one day be a chef in a large restaurant. He's generally extroverted and chats with a lot of people at his job, but has few close friends.

What plus would you like to start with: ...I think I'd like a magical shield.

[up] has been approved.

The Wok of Destiny

Description: The Wok of Destiny is a magical metal pan that only appears to aspiring chefs who dream of one day creating the ultimate meal. In addition to be used as a wok, the Wok of Destiny can be used as an improvised shield.

Dice bonus:

The Wok of Destiny grants a one die bonus when used for any of the following three things: Used to cook with, used to block a fire based attack, or used to block a bladed weapon.

On two or more successes: (Remember: Rolling your best number on a single die counts as two successes)

If used to cook, the resulting food will give the person who eats it a one die bonus they can use on a future roll. This bonus does not stack with itself (Eating a second portion of the meal before using your bonus from the first meal does not grant a bonus).

If used as a shield, the Wok of Destiny will cause the attack to be reflected at the person making the attack.
