There's this new upcoming cartoon about...well...the last kids on earth.
Vancouver, Canada-based Atomic Cartoons—the animation studio owned by Thunderbird Entertainment—is set to adapt author Max Brallier’s bestselling book series The Last Kids on Earth into an animated show.
After optioning the rights, Atomic has signed Brallier on to write and executive produce the series alongside Atomic’s Jennifer Mc Carron and Matthew Berkowitz. (Mc Carron was recently promoted to co-president and CEO of Atomic Cartoons, while Ivan Fecan was named interim CEO of Thunderbird Entertainment.)
Development has begun on the series, which will follow Jack Sullivan and a group of zombie-fighting middle schoolers who live in a treehouse filled with video games and candy. The news comes as the book series’ third installment, The Last Kids on Earth and the Nightmare King, hits shelves today courtesy of Viking, an imprint of Penguin Random House.
This sounds extremely promising to me. I hope the cartoon is good.
Sounds like a kick-ass concept, but if I know Atomic cartoons, we'll either get Above average Atomic Betty animation and humor or Rocket Monkeys level of gross-out BS. I want this to succeed so much, but what channel will it go to?
This premise sounds like it would have existed during the late 1990's/early 2000's era, where there were slight experimentation with dark material for kids. I really hope it's going to be good.
The original author is overseeing this so I think it might be done well after all.
Production has started!
The cast was announced today.
Its coming to Netflix this month!
Yup, starting with a 66-minute special, rather than a full season, though.
Also, it's getting an interactive special alongside Carmen Sandiego, and Puss in Boots, Buddy Thunderstruck, and Stretch Armstrong before it.
This trailer came out.
Great! Cant wait!
This article, which has spoilers, says regular episodes come out in 2020.

The trailer makes the show look as a fun ride (to me, at least; and I don't necessarily mean literally). I must mark my calendar for this one.
I remember hearing that Mark Hamil and Bruce Campbell would be voicing characters on this show, are they voicing the monsters because most of the main cast are kids.
Here is the link in question.
Most probably zombies and monsters, I presume.
I hope I was helpful enough, Kaiseror.

Huh. I hope the final show makes this clear, but I wasn't really feeling the tone of the trailer and the art style, considering the setting. I get that optimism and perseverance are big themes in the books, but it seemed a little too peppy.
Mark Hamill will probably be playing an evil demon clown or something like that.
Nick Wolfhard took part in a 3 page interview. He mentions originally auditioning for Jack and Dirk before being cast as the former.
The show will be at New York Comic Con on October 6 at 4 pm .
Here's an interview with Max Brallier and Scott Peterson.
Here are the first 5 minutes.
A video game is in development .
I was thinking of starting a page, but it looks like there are a few here more knowledgeable about the shows origins then I.
