Looking some of the next Fox releases, I'm predicting weak results. The Art of Racing in the Rain is one of those dog movies, which has seen diminishing box office returns, Ad Astra and Ford vs. Ferrari look like the types of films that people claim they want but don't actually go see, and Spies in Disguise might be a victim of getting slotted in the crowded holiday season.
Bump.
Contrary to rumors, Emma Watts is staying with Fox/Disney.
And now that she's given oversight of the Avatar movies, we should expect the next Deadpool movie to be a Marvel Studios venture since Deadpool and the other Marvel stuff Fox had dibs on are going straight to Kevin Feige.

Fox Animation co-president Andrea Miloro is stepping down
and it looks like Disney is evaluating Blue Sky's position in the company.
The layoffs continue,
and the Fox Research Library is also getting the ax.
A lot of people knew that this would happen given that Fox's film slate would be bad this year. The fact that Iger was a bit overly optimistic about it doesn't help.
That being said, by announcing that Disney would take a more direct role in green-lighting Fox films, Iger just signaled anything from Fox in the next several years that's not attached to an IP and in early production will likely be on the back-burner indefinitely, if not canned entirely. Seems only Fox Searchlight and the TV units can breathe easily here.

"The devil's got all the good gear. What's God got? The Inspiral Carpets and nuns. Fuck that." - Liam GallagherLooks like Disney is further integrating Blue Sky, because Disney Animation president Andrew Millstein has been named
as Andrea Miloro's replacement.
Wouldn't surprise me if Disney moves to sever whatever ties Blue Sky had with Fox entirely and move it over to the Disney Animation banner as a whole.

: Oh, thank God.
: Yeah, while Fox movies tended to get their money back, that was more because they were prioritizing finances over quality of product. Blue Sky had some modest critical hits, but also a lot of critical misses that still manage to make back their budget and then some (*glances at Ice Age pentalogy*).
I wouldn't be surprised if Blue Sky gets refitted so that it reaches the same standard as the usual WDAS and Pixar fare. It could fill that niche of economically-minded (like less than $150 million budgeted) movie that manages to get away with stuff a WDAS or Pixar movie can't.
On a somewhat related note, I notice that Disney kind of owns Boom! Studios via the minority stake Fox had. I wonder about the likelihood of Disney using any of the content from Boom! Studios and its various imprints (Tyson Hesse's Diesel, Ruinworld, Lumberjanes, and Giant Days maybe?) later down the line. Maybe as stuff Blue Sky could do?
(And yes, I am semi-aware that the whole "minority stake" aspect does make that scenario very unlikely.)
Incidentally, if Blue Sky did The Peanuts Movie, will it appear on Disney+ even though Peanuts content will be coming exclusively to Apple TV+?

God, I would kill for a Giant Days adaptation. Maybe a Disney+ show?
Also, if this article is to be believed, Disney is canceling all of Fox's upcoming movies that don't have franchise potential, or releasing them on Hulu.

I guess that's a win for the Murdoch.
