I really don't think I can beat this Monk. I cannot train myself to react correctly. I know what needs to be done, I just can't actually fucking do it.
Doesn't help that there's actual bullshit sometimes, like a few attempts ago I actually made it to phase three, correctly avoided the big sweep by jumping... only for her to do her puke attack while I was in the air, which I unavoidably fell into.
Okay, someone please tell me if there's a proper and reliable way to avoid attack during the shadow-form attacks, because jumping around the trees just got me killed and doesn't really feel like what I'm supposed to be doing.
Edit- Never mind, did it. I'm gonna have to beg for help here more often, it seems to work :P

If you jump into the highest tree and just sit there, none of her shadows can hit you and she quickly gives up. You can also get a stealth-kill on her (somehow) to immediately get rid of her second life bar by jumping down on her.
Just killed Ashina Elite Ujinari, the Cave Shichimen, and Shume Masaji Oniwa, the last minibosses I had to face. For some reason Shume felt the easiest to me, I killed him first try and only used 3 heals, but Ujinari absolutely kicked my ass. I had to resort to fireaxe spam to kill him and even then used most of my healing items. Now the only things left in my playthrough are the Demon of Hatred and Sword Saint Isshin. This Is Gonna Suck.

"...always on the verge of death, yet repeatedly baffling Christendom by continuing to live."Funny thing is you can use Deathblows on both versions of the Corrrupted Monk. The Corrupted Monk in Mibu Village just requires some finesse and practice with three Snap Seeds and Ashes before you can reliably use the deathblow on her. I'm on NG+4 right now and I've gotten the hang of cheesing Gyoubu, the Corrupted Monk, and the Demon of Hatred. At this point I'm just bumrushing the game until I'm at about NG+5 or something so I can farm XP more quickly, as the all technique achievement is the only thing I'm missing to Platinum this game.
Hitokiri in the streets, daishouri in the sheets. So for all of you who have beaten the game, who or what are your favorite bosses and minibosses?
Personally, the Divine Dragon is my absolute favorite boss fight. It might not be the most challenging fight, but damn if it doesn't provide a grand spectacle that makes me feel super cool with all the lightning being tossed around.
I also really like the Final Boss despite the fight usually kicking my ass again and again and again. When the fight goes well, it's quite a sight to behold, and that final Deathblow never fails to excite.
As for minibosses, I like fighting O-Rin and the Armored Warrior, even if I tend to get whacked around by the latter since I suck at the game.
"I squirm, I struggle, ergo I am. Faced with death, I am finally, truly alive."Armoured Warrior is among my favourites too.
Think I just found my least favourite though; the Sakura Bull whatever-it's-called. Possible to get a deathblow from above, except for some reason it's difficult to actually get (the deathblow target icon doesn't always appear), and landing the deathblow doesn't actually kill it even though it only has one pip, it just takes off about 40% of its vitality. Then, when fighting it on the ground, by the time I get it to about 25-30% vitality, it just runs away and loses aggro, thus resetting all its vitality.
This enemy is bullshit.
Now there seems to be another boss with janky aggro, and I've fallen into the water with some guy throwing lightning balls at me and I haven't found a way back to land that isn't completely exposed to him.
Is this area just... bad?
Yep, couldn't find a safe way out and I died. I declare this whole area bullshit.

You’re not supposed to go swimming in the Fountainhead Palace until you manage to kill that guardian. If you’ve already encountered the Sakura Bull, then just keep following the path in Mibu Palace until you find the back gate, leading you to the bridge and the Viewing Deck idol.
If you’re already past the bridge, then yeah, you’re in a spot of danger if you fall in the water, as the only really way back up to safety is to try and swim dash back to the bridge and find a grapple point, as there aren’t any other grapple points around the cliffs.

Hitokiri in the streets, daishouri in the sheets.Yeah, I found the bridge, assuming mean the one with the giant carp that breaks it. I was exploring around and looking for way up the tree that guardian is in (not that I knew he was in it at the time), when I simply slipped off the edge and into the water. I took cover under a nearby deck for a while, then tried to make a dash for it back to the bridge idol, but didn't make it.
I really hope he doesn't respawn if you kill him.
Did most of the fountain palace today. Corrupted monk went down fairly easily because she doesn't regen posture unlike the one in mibu village, but still took a dozen tries. Sakura bull got first tried while I didn't even knew it was there, which was a pleasant surprise. Final headless dead, I'm pretty much setup to go to the boss, only need to clear the carp nobled quest.
I guess that father owl made me git a bit too gud for this level. Pretty cool fight btw.
"when you stare too long into the abyss, Xehanort takes advantage of the distraction to break into your house and steal all your shit."I'll be honest, I actually found Father Owl to be a little easier compared to Old Owl, if only because Father Owl has that easily countered thrust in his second phase. Sure, Father Owl was more aggressive, but by that point I'd already gotten a pretty good grip of the game's combat. But yeah, you're right. That fight was still a lot of fun.

Hitokiri in the streets, daishouri in the sheets.Well thanks to some fortunate circumstances I was able to get this game several weeks ago and I've spent them absolutely consumed by it.
Just finished a new game, bell demon, no charm playthrough, which is very punishing (even after going through NG+ runs for the other endings), and incredibly exhilarating to defeat.
Demon of Hatred wasn't as bad as I initially thought it would be, once I got the patterns down, but it's still an endurance match to be sure.

Finally beat Sword Saint Isshin. Just had to grind my attack up to 24 to do it, since it increases your posture damage done as well as vitality damage.
Watch Symphogearfinished the game today for the first time. Welp, that was nice.
Demon of hatred was... kind of a pussy ? Like, there's only a handful of attacks to remember with no possible branching (unlike the final bosses, who can start with the same attack and followup with up to three different attacks on the same opening move), most of them are just block the hit/outposition it with exaclty one perilous attack whose answer is systematically "jump over it", and the fire umbrella negates his most dangerous attacks and actually turns them into great openings. I ended up using divine confetti on the third phase and spamming malcontent to shave of the 3/4 of the lifebar, and the one thing that alsmot killed me is that this strat left me with no emblems to block the final jumping flame attack he did.
the actual final boss was a more challenging fight, but in the end went down more easily than father owl. that lightning of tomoe in phase 3 is basically free damage for you, and both the warm up-boss and the first phase ended up bieng accidentally perfected several times through the runs, which only really lives phase 2 as the huge difficulty spike.
Overall, great game, but boy does it suck until you get gud. I came pretty close to dropping it before doing Ashina castle, which is where I stared pulling off mikiri and jump counters satisfyingly.
In the end, I'm fine with many things in the game, recycled boss included, but I think the perilous prompt is just dumb. When you first see it on a attack, you can only guess what type of attack it will be, and pray you pick the appropriate response. Should you dodge on the side because it's a grab ? mikiri because it's a thrust ? jump over it because it's a sweep ? Deflect anyway while praying it was a thrust and you have the deflect timing down ?
The only thing the prompt does for you until you know which attack is coming is that you're not supposed to block it. While it's nice in a game that starts with the assumption that you can block everything unless mentionned otherwise, it'd be better if I could start responding to the attack right now rather than the next time the same attack happen, if I have understood what kind of attack it was the first time.
And once you know what attack is coming and what is the response to it, the prompt becomes moslty irrelevant since by this time you're pretty much watching out for the exact windup of the attack since many bosses like to have diffrent types of perilous attack as a followup to the same attack, meaning the prompt is insufficient information by itself.
The worst part being when you legitimately can't tell what kind of attack the perilous is and how you're supposed to respond. what is the corrupted monk's centiped-puke attack supposed to be ? I still don't know, and the prompt is doing fuck all to tell me.
You could make so many things better simply by color-coding the prompt depending of what type of attack is coming.

"when you stare too long into the abyss, Xehanort takes advantage of the distraction to break into your house and steal all your shit."
I'm not sure I would use that word to describe the Demon of Hatred, especially considering how dangerous some of the female enemies in this game can be.
...Most of which go down to Sabimaru pretty easily, so yeah.

Try using the Bell demon. A lot of bosses benefit from it a lot, difficulty wise.

Never mind. Just used enough determination and the Malcontent whistle, and finally won.
Now I'm just stuck on Isshin the Sword Saint.
