INTRO

HENSHIN!'

The year is 2025 and in the small suburban town of Northwoods life couldn't seem more normal. However, that is about to change! Danger is popping up all around this town that could effect the whole world! The barrier between the magic world and the modern world is breaking down sending, horrifying monsters and powerful magi into the unsuspecting town.. Meanwhile, scientists are creating weapons the likes of which the world have never seen before, and forces beyond this planet are conspiring to conquer and enslave the human race!

In the face of all this upcoming chaos, an old sorceress has enchanted four magical items to bond to four young women. A Silver Ring, a Broach, a Bracelet, and a Gem. Whether they like it or not, these four are now the best hope the world has for combating these new threats! With their powers, their teamwork and their courage these Witches might just stand a chance!

Hiya welcome to my name game! Witches of Northwoods is a Magical Girl game. That is a small superhero group RP modeled after the styles of Magical Girl anime and Henshin Hero shows. As it mentions above, the players are one of four heroines who get bonded to magical items that allow them to transform into mystic heroes. This game will have individual adventures, some cool mysteries and down time for character development as well. Below I will explain some more setting and magical details as well as the rules. But a lot of this is unnecessary to read right away if your just wanting to get into the game. If you'd like to sign up just use the character sheets I have posted below.

SETTING

Northwoods is a small suburb and so far the only suburb of "Revolution City''. A city made 13 years ago when an unknown power source was discovered in the middle of an uninhabited forest. The source was powerful enough for a chunk the size of a diamond was enough to power a city for years! A coalition of scientists decided to make several labs around it and use this unknown element to increase their production.speed and research all it's effects. That ended 10 years ago when the unknown element mysteriously lost all it's power. After that the reputation of many scientists was ruined but soon after a city was built around the soon abandoned labs and factories. Meanwhile the small tourist trap of Northwoods expanded to become a large suburb.

Little do the citizens know both these towns hide several entrances from a magical world to this one. Several enchanted weapons and monsters, portals, and secrets hide in this world and only one person is currently aware of it. Elizabeth Wallace an old manager of an antique shop is secretly a magi, but is frail and to weak to win against these powerful monsters. In preparation for the upcoming disasters she has enchanted four magical items and made them bond themselves to girls who show a certain courage or integrity to be a hero, and bonds with them for life. After the empowering events these four will go and save the world. But these powers only work while these young women are transformed from their human form. They must transform into their heroine forms with their items.

The mentor to our heroes. An old enchantress lacking much power and combat skill who managed just enough energy to enchant four magical items and give new heroes power they can use to save their world. An older short woman with faint hints of an English accent and a full head of gray hair. An understanding woman with a small strict streak when it comes to the four's superhero duties.

-Sarah Hall

A red haired, pale Sophomore at Northwoods High. Constantly dressing in green with a daily expression that radiates curiosity. She is the head of the school's newspaper and carries a camera everywhere she goes. She wants to find out everything about everyone and will stop at nothing to learn the truth.

-Daiki Usikamo

A fairly mysterious Sophomore at Northwoods High. A quiet, thin boy of Japanese descent who commonly dresses in black and white hoodies or simple single-colored shirts. Barely participates in the party or social scene, who nonetheless has some popularity for his success on the track team and his enthusiastic participation in art and writing classes. Has recently begun to encounter unusual creatures and has retreated into himself more and more since nobody believes him.

A 30 something history teacher. Frequently clad in a black suit with an unusual passion for mythology. Frequently finds himself lost in in-depth rambling to bored students. The lessons on legendary monsters or things believed by ancient cultures are accurate however.

RULES

We all need them. So here are some to make sure we stick to tvtropes forum rules and all have fun roleplaying.

1.) Obey the TV Tropes TOS. 2.) Don't make your heroes so powerful nothing can hit them or hurt them ever. -To further help this rule I will rule out certain powers

• Time Travel through mind or body. Cannot be done except by special artifacts no player has at the start.
• Mind control or possession.
• Teleportation to anywhere instantly in the world.
• Phasing through walls is allowed, (but not all material)
• Unlimited elemental powers, (I.E: You can control water, but not to the extant that you could cause a Tsunami).
• The ability to use your spells without transforming into your hero forms.

3.) No autohitting. Don't assume you hit or your action automatically worked in the event of a major fight or dangerous situation. 4.) No metagaming, if you find out something your character shouldn't know don't use it to your advantage. 5.) Keep the violence, language and content in general to about the level of a PG-13 Hollywood movie. 6.) If your going to be gone for more than 4 or 5 days please let me or whoever is currently acting as the GM know. After that time we may take control of your character if they are needed.

In this world your spells are come from the mind of the characters themselves and are motions or words they associate with their power. The first spells they get reflect their innermost desire. But you have plenty of room to be creative, someone who wants safety might want super strength to stand up to anyone or a magic shield to defend everyone. So be creative as you want and you can think through anything.)

Is there any practical difference between the four items? Or is it an aesthetic thing?

Beyond that, this post is basically just to mark my interest. I'll either replace this notice with my signup once I'm done with it or just make a new post for the signup proper.

Cool! No practical difference between the items, just aesthetic. It is the which item is shared in hero form and civilian form. Also forgot to mention but we will be playing the empowering event(s). so only keep your backstory to before the origin.

• Witch Name: Warrior Princess

• Age: 15

• Appearance: Mostly like this, though without the cat ears and tail

• Hero Form: There she is

• Mystic Item: Bracelet

• Henshin!: Tamara extends her left hand to the side while her right hand is at the right side of her hip in a loose fist, then makes a swiping motion with her left hand until it is at the right side of her hip, making a grabbing motion there, then as if drawing a sword she makes another swiping motion as her sword is materialising in her hand until her hand is at the left side of her hip, sword pointed to the ground

• Long Term Goals: Tamara wants to go on a voyage around the world

• Spells:
  • 1.) "Duel!" Tamara raises her blade into the sky and makes a slow sweeping motion to the ground, during this, a number of blades materialise around her, said blades circle around her and act as defense or offense depending on the situation
  • 2.) "Full Scale!": Tamara raises her sword into the sky before quickly turning it in her hand and ramming it into the ground, out of which a number of miniaturised knights emerge

• Backstory: Tamara's life so far was fairly normal, from early on she sometimes helped her father out in his bookstore, through reading them she developed an interest for the middle ages early on, but also for the paranormal. In elementary school she was reprimanded more than once for stickfighting with others to "joust", though, in middleschool this got better - mostly because she entered the medieval club and now did that oficially. Other than that nothing really of note happened - not to Tamara's dismay actually. In highschool she promptly entered the medieval club (i.e. founded it) and the paranormal club.

  • Maike Junkermann - Tamara's Mother, works as dog trainer
  • Werner Junkermann - Tamara's Father, owns a small bookstore for old books

Guys, I think I'm going to get my computer's screen replaced tonight and my GF is coming over tomorrow night. So it might be Wednesday morning or Wednesday night before I get back to you guys. Not sure though. I hope to be back by the morning but if worst comes to worst I'll check out anything new that night.

I guess I'll toss my hat in for interest. WIP.

• Name: Miranda Scathach McConnaigh
• Witch Name: Pendragon
• Age: 17
• Appearance: roughly so◊, though with grey eyes. Stands at a pretty average 5'6. Usually wears a white button-up shirt and either black slacks or a black skirt.
• Hero Form: this◊, sans the blades on the pauldrons. Additionally, the gems are purple, and the gems and helmet, while they glow, don't have energy tendrils coming off of them. The helmet can fold into the armor as a collar, and her hair becomes long and white when transformed.
• Mystic Item: The Silver Ring
• Henshin!: She extends her right hand (on which she wears the ring) to the sky, summoning her staff, before slamming it down in front of her, a magic circle appearing under her with Instant Runes. Her armor appears on her in pieces, starting from the cloth pants and undershirt, followed by the overcoat and ending with the armored pieces.
• Long Term Goals: She doesn't have too terribly long-term goals, aside from the fact that she definitely wants to go to college and probably get a Ph D.
• Spells:
  1.) Aurora Lux: She waves a hand horizontally in an arc in front of her, conjuring a spread of twenty energy bolts which seek enemies. The individual bolts don't do to terribly much damage, but she can spam the spell pretty easily.
  2.) Glacia Aias: Named after the Greek hero Ajax the Great, famed for his shield, the spell projects an energy barrier in front of her that can protect her and anyone close to her. It's fairly strong, but directional and fairly small (about a 10' circle).
• Backstory: Miranda was born to a father who works as a lawyer and an mother who works as an engineer. Her parents were (and still are) pretty distant and fairly hands-off parents. She's had a pretty normal upper middle-class life. Growing up, she was a voracious reader, and still is. Being a complete nerd, she got picked on a fair amount in middle school. Unfortunately for the would-be bullies, she's done karate and judo since she was five. The picking on her stopped the moment she threw someone to the floor who tried to shove her into a locker.
  In her freshman year of high school, she picked up an interest in the paranormal and occult, and she is the founder and head of the Mythology and Fiction Club at school. This club has a grand total of three members who actually regularly attend. It's mostly just an excuse for a few introverted friends to have conversations about the nerdy things they would have anyhow but be able to point to having a social life to their parents. Miranda, unlike pretty much everyone else, actually pays attention in and enjoys Professor East's classes. She is most definitely considered weird for this
• Important NPCs:
  -Maia DeVilliers: Miranda's best friend and fellow attendee of the M&FC.
  -Gwydion McConnaigh: Father.
  -Clara McConnaigh: Mother.
  -Eireen Fairbank: Miranda's other close friend and the other attendee of the M&FC.

Cool, nice character you have. I approve of it all, just want you to know though I may give your character get into physical fights more if and when she is separate from the group. I just need a transformation sequence then your done!

Glad your considering it. Hope the creation goes well, tell me if you have any problems figuring out something about the character sheet.

Not quite done with this yet (namely, she still needs a complete hero form and a second spell), but I feel it's done enough that it's worth posting at this point.

• Name: Fuyuko Chandler
• Witch Name: Phantasm
• Age: 16
• Appearance: Fuyuko is half-Japanese, half-Caucasian. She has a relatively thin stature, while not being abnormally tall or short for her age. She has brown eyes and straight, blonde hair that she usually keeps tied in a moderate-length tail that she drapes around her right shoulder. She's usually dressed in some combination of a buttoned blouse, pleated skirt, and thigh-high stockings.
• Hero Form: Fuyuko's hair and eyes become pink.
• Mystic Item: Broach (though if someone else wants the broach more I'll take the gem)
• Henshin!: Fuyoko clutches her hands to her chest, summoning forth a massive cherry blossom that surrounds her. The petals then enclose her, as if the flower consumed her. After a couple moments, the petals wilt away to reveal her hero form.
• Long Term Goals:
  • Fuyuko's biggest dream is to become a famous horror writer. In the meantime, she'll settle for being able to make some of her own choices without being ostracized for them. Sadly, she doesn't have much hope for accomplishing either, not that she'll admit it.
• Spells:
  1. Trade Off: When activated, Fuyuko's strength and speed drastically increase, and she stops feeling pain (although this doesn't mean she's invincible). However, remaining in this state is quite taxing on her body. Depending on how long she's in it and how much she exerted herself, the cost could be anything from simply being extremely exhausted to falling unconscious for days to outright dying.
  2. To be decided
• Backstory:
  • Fuyuko was born to Yuuki and Harold Chandler.
  • Unfortunately, her family was not the most functional one, and her parents disagreed often on how to raise her. This eventually lead to a messy divorce when Fuyuko was five, with her mother winning custody over her.
  • Things only got worse from there. While never abusive, Yuuki never seemed to approve of any of Fuyuko's interests, always dismissing them with "that's not what a proper lady does."
  • School was better for her, but while her teachers were generally encouraging she found it difficult to find friends. So she chose to repress her actual self, both to please her mother and to try and make herself more appealing as a friend.
  • It worked for the most part, but as she bottled up issue after issue it eventually left her with a nasty case of depression. Naturally, she chose not to tell anyone about this either, instead chalking it up to her own failings as a person and simply hiding it behind a smile and a cheerful demeanor.
  • Her mother's eventual decision to move to Northwoods, primarily for financial reasons, didn't help her depression at all. Separated from her friends back home and thrust into a new place she was unfamiliar with, she started to lose hope for ever deciding her own future. With this lost hope came the emergence of suicidal thoughts.
  • Two years after the move, she's since adjusted to her new home. Alas, the thoughts remain, and might even be getting worse....
• Important NPCs:
  • Yuuki Chandler: A stern woman who's convinced she knows best for her daughter.
  • Harold Chandler: Fuyuko's father. She was too young to really remember what he was like the last time she saw him, and she hasn't seen him since the divorce.
• Character Use: No. I might want to use this character for other things in the future.

Gotcha, also the hero name feels a little too non-descriptive. I'll probably approve "Warrior Princess", but it feels more like a nickname like Batman has "The Dark Knight" or Superman has "The Man of Steel" you know?

Good character so far, but the Hero Form seems to not be much of a disguise. If you choose to continue down that road she would have to hide moreso than the others if they fight in public. Are you okay with that? If not you'd need a little more to the outfit or disguise.

Once these ones are done, I'll put up a discussion thread.

Well, I'm probably doing this so here's what I've got so far.

• Name: Ara Aries
• Witch Name: Asteri
• Age: 14
• Appearance: I did end up making a better ref
• Hero Form: The link above has both her forms, regular on the left, transformed on the right.
• Mystic Item: The Gem
• Henshin!: Ara holds out the Gem out. With a burst of light, it creates tendrils of fabric that wrap around her and form her base costume. Her armor then appears on her piece by piece in more bursts of light. Finally, she spins around and the sash appears and wraps around her waist.
• Long Term Goals: Wants to help out her dad, but isn't totally sure how she should go about that.
• Spells:
  • 1.) Lyra- Making a sound something like a harp being strummed, an aura of pink light extends from Ara in a 10-15 ft radius around her. When someone Ara considers an ally is within the aura, they get a small boost to their abilities and their injuries begin to heal for however long they're inside. This ability doesn't work on Ara herself, though.
  • 2.) Saggitarius- Ara summons an arrow shaped construct that she can control the motion of however she wants. She can have up to seven of these out normally and 10 if she's concentrating, but more than that is pushing it.
• Backstory: Ara does not know who her birth parents are or what happened to them, and for the most part she doesn't mind that she doesn't. Apparently an orphan, Ara was adopted at a young age by her adoptive father Aron. Aron is a pretty good parent, and the two lived out most of Ara's life pretty normally. As she got older, though, Ara noticed how much taking care of her alone was taking out of Aron. Despite his constant reminders that she shouldn't worry about him and just go live out her youth, Ara still tries to (subtly) butt in on his affairs and give him a hand once in a while.
• Despite her happy-go-lucky nature, Ara hasn't made too many friends since starting high school. She keeps in touch with one from middle school, but they're in different classes and don't get to talk too much. Ara has a special interest in mythology, though, and that Mythology and Fiction Club thing looks pretty interesting. Maybe she could meet some new people there?
• Important NP Cs:
  • Aron Aries- Ara's adoptive father. He acts grumpy, but he's actually kind of a softie and he dotes on Ara a lot.
  • Ember Anka- Ara's closest friend and fellow freshman.
• Character Use: Probably not but depending on circumstances I could change my mind.
