So recently, a common complaint for my magic system was how it was elemental based. I'm gong to do a magic system based on directions and tulpa bonding. A weaver must undertake a rite of passage to the world of spirits. There they find a Anu to bond with which can found in the many directions of the realm. Each represents a different element of power the Anu embody. This doesn't mean all Anu are the same. Each has different ways of using it which can offer a weaver a different spell set from the others. When they fully bond why the Anu, they can channel them through the spells the use. Only Xeiru can fuse with them to become more powerful versions of themselves.
The man replied that it was boring not realizing the utility you can do with it. I decided to break a rule in my system where a weaver can only bond with one Anu. They can bond with up to 4 but commonly just 2 which can enable to switch stances or combine spells to craft new ones. But to be safe, how can I do something else with this? I don't how to do a not really element based system considering the main idea for my 7-12+ novel/comic is a group of teens becoming warriors of nature to defend a free from energy consuming centipedes.
