Oh yeah. In real life, one of the most common things that people with depressed partners are told is that they can't be held responsible for how their partner feels as long as they're trying, if their partner self-harms or commits suicide it's their partner's fault and not theirs, and in fact if someone tries to blame their illness or own self-destructive actions on you it's a form of emotional abuse and a red flag to get the hell away. But MC isn't a cute waifu, so everything must be his fault.
Than again i don't even see mc hate that much. I just found the murderous hatred for this regular high schooler ridiculous. Especially when most of it is based off things out of his control. I see people defend him these days.
"what kind of logic is that?"
Ficcional logic of course, I mean is the same logic that allow Umbrige to have a bigger hatedom that freaking voldemort, how Roshnarch is popular even when is a misoginistic jackass and so own.
In case of the MC, I have seen some let play, even this page put him as umsympathic for some reason:
-The fact he at times he is sort of insenstivie to Sayori even when she is seen as unconfortable, sure Sayori is happy when she is with him but most is said not show and it dosent shake the idea he is sort of dense.
-The fact he dosent seen really care about the club of sayorit activities and he kinda drag into it, is not a bad thing but for some make him lazy.
And none of this things are accidental, Savato pretty much said as well that if MC sound dickish is because he is a generic visual sim, romantic parnet MC, so he inherit all the issues thos protagonist go: dense as hell, nagging, etc and since the narrative stop giving a damn after act 2 then he feel flat as hell which condemn him.
Nothing screams unsympathetic like having a mental breakdown upon discovering her hanging corpse. Than again i can hardly call mc's interaction with sayori insensitive considering that kind of crap wouldn't be be uncommon for people that age anyway, dense vn protag or not. People only wanna treat it like it's such simply for sayori being a depressed cute waifu. I'm not saying MC is a saint or anything(he's definatly not) I'm just saying when one of the characters is a selfish homicidal sociopath and people still say she's best girl, its at this point he could get a little more slack for saying a few wrong things under stress. Just wanted to give my 2 cents into the mc thing.

Hey, Im one who defend the MC and I still kinda piss at Dan but being so weird about the MC being a vehicle or not because it dosent really make sense, I mean in order for the emocional sense with Sayori to work the MC NEED a personality outside the game.
Anyway to change the theme I watch Gravity falls and the episoe about gifany(Is that her name) and how she used animatronic to atack the chararter.....
in short: Monika decide to used the cast of Final night at freedy to atack the chararter for dump him.......
I now im realizing that is a crossover and I want so bloody hard right now, I really wanted it.
hey man, sorry i came off as rude. I tend to get defensive with these kind of things. All things considered, Monika is actually one of my favorite characters, but i never bother admitting it. I gotta say a fnaf crossover with ddlc is so unheard of.

Actually, what animatroic do you think each girl would like the most?.
Also, if Yuri ever play the saga, she better not used purple considering the conotation
I'll give it a shot.
Sayori: Probably Chica.
Yuri: Ballora seems like the one that makes the most sense.
Natsuki: Only the cutest one, Balloon Boy.
Monika: She's definitely a fan of Foxy since she seems like the kind of fan that makes him out to be a good guy for no reason.
Also....I think sayori would get trigged(like for reals) if it see the hanged scene in Siter location, and I feel Monika could relate a little to Baby in how she is never see and carry out her plan in secret.
MC: he'll probably like balloon boy
Since he's a rather bland guy, I think his favorite would be Freddy instead.
Funny thing is, Monika in the end did pretty much the same as Henry: blow everything in a big blaze of glory in order to repent for their past mistakes.
Really this two gaem are just begging for a crossover.
i can see that. Probably balloon boy still. Than again i never really found mc bland to begin with. That remind me, am i the only one who thinks "save the dokis" stories are all the same beat by beat?

I wrote a fic with the intent of showing why that kind of scenario wouldn't work with the Doki girls.
You wrote a story bout that? Can you send a link because i always wanted to see a fanfic that deconstructs save the dokis narrative and how unrealistic the scenarios tends to be.

I co-wrote this fic with a friend, though the last chapter and a half is purely mine.
I wanted to see if a post-game Monika as protagonist could be forgiven.
speaking of which, has anyone noticed how the girl's traits are exaggerated by the fandom to the point they come off as over the top than grounded? Like how sometimes dadsuki(natsuki's dad) is portrayed as a sexually abusive towards her.
Oh well. Saw this months ago:

Welcome to fandoms, to be honest.
Honestly I'm surprised DDLC still has a dedicated base. It feels like everyone else has moved on.
Yeah, I still like DDLC and would recommend it to anyone who hasn't played it and hasn't been spoiled but it's not the kind of game with much longevity. It doesn't have a lot of content and while it is pretty interesting a lot of the conversation about it has already been exhausted.
Like Undertale it have gather a sore of life on is own with mod and diferent story beats, undertale more because it got with alternate univeres and those really extended the life of the series.
And I will said the MC is bland but more for being wasted potencial, it have the hint of a proper persoanlity like caring about Sayori but being a little bit to dense for it...and the game drop that in second arc.
A game that is easily modded will stay alive for much longer than expected. The communities of all games of Mass Effect, Fallout and Elder Scrolls are still active due to players constantly being able to experience new things in them.
