This page feels like it should be put in Useful Notes... I mean, things in Main should be tropes, indexes, and disambigs, and this page is an index, but UN is probably a better fit, since the page is also about an event. Or do UN pages require more information?

This is certainly not a trope. I don't even see why a crowner is necessary, because moving this to UN would be completely noncontroversial.

I had a dog-themed avatar before it was cool.

Honestly, I'd say moving it to Advertising/ would make the most sense. But I wouldn't cry if it just got moved to Useful Notes/

I'd sooner support a move to Advertising/ since this is an article about a marketing campaign and has nothing of note to writers or other creators. Really, it's more about how few pages we have in Advertising/ compared to Useful Notes/ than me being a stickler for anything.

Yeah, this is a marketing campaign in the form of a few games and several more references to it in other games. This also means pretty much all tropes would fit on those games rather than on the campaign itself, but there could still be tropes to it (Lesser Star and Milestone Celebration are linked in the description, to pick two). Advertising seems to be the best place to fit it.

If The Year Of Luigi doesn't work as a Useful Note or an Advertising page, we might just cut it.

Should we make Sandbox. The Year Of Luigi for collecting tropes and revising the description? The current description doesn't mention things like "Luigi" taking over Nintendo's Twitter account, which would be part of the marketing campaign.

Moving it to Advertising/ actually sounds like a good idea, partially because it's a marketing campaign and partially because of what others said about that namespace being underused.

Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.

I started that Sandbox. The Year Of Luigi page. The Lesser Star example doesn't seem to work because it looked like misuse of the trope.

Yeah, looking at Lesser Star it isn't what I remember it being. But then, the description contradicts itself. It brings up an example with musicians in the definition, and then when explaining the "opposite", describes exactly the same thing, so I'm not entirely sure what it wants to be.

Sandbox looks decent, spelling of "merketing" aside. Abandoned Mascot refers to the TLP page?

I do wonder if the Referenced by... bit isn't simply part of the campaign itself, rather than references to it in other games. It's still the same company doing them.

Merketing. The joys of Notepad.

Yeah Abandoned Mascot is due to launch soon and this is just the sandbox so I figured it was fine for now.

I wasn't sure about Referenced by... or something else. Should it stay in the description like on the current main page?

I think it's fine as it is on the page now. It is part of the campaign any way I see it, so it's not trivia.

I think Lesser Star actually was made with music in mind. It used to be called The Garfunkel.

Edit: Looked at Lesser Star's description and I agree that it's unclear. It doesn't help that some of the examples are badly written, and I also saw an example that's referred to as in-universe despite the trope already being in the In-Universe Examples Only category (though that might be a relic from earlier in the trope's life, given how the trope is also in the No Real Life Examples, Please! category and the old name I mentioned refers to a real-life musician).

Another edit: Didn't mean for my comment about Lesser Star to get so long. I only intended for it to be a comment about a trope mentioned in this thread, because I don't intend to start a TRS thread for it.

Advertisement campaigns aren't Useful Notes; they're a type of works.

Cut. It definitely isn't a trope. It shouldn't go in the Advertising space because then it would have to have tropes, which it doesn't. If anything it would be a Useful Note, but this isn't useful. So, cut.

We are collecting tropes for this marketing campaign, so I cannot agree with you about how this "doesn't have tropes."

[up][up]Cutting is not the first option to "fix" everything. It's just the lazy way, and it doesn't help the wiki. It's got enough tropes to not cut anyway.

[up] The first one was two years ago, at the end of December 2015. There was going to be another one at the end of June 2016, but it was cancelled. There wasn't one at the end of December 2016. I've heard several people say that there's going to be one at the end of December 2017, which confuses me because I haven't seen a mod announce it anywhere, not even in the pinned TRS discussion thread.

[up]Was the New Year's Purge a one-time thing, then? Or at least something that hasn't been done since two years ago.
