Ok, the subpages on You Keep Using That Word now redirect to the subpages of UsefulNotes.Commonly Misused Words.
Sandbox. You Keep Using That Word now has 10 valid examples, can it be swapped in for the main?
Does this example count?
- Back To The Future: At least from 1955 Doc's point of view, as he thinks that Marty's use of the word "heavy" still applies to weight and measurements - when, from Marty's point of view, he's just using the slang term for something that has a deep, powerful impact, whether philosophical, intellectual, or emotional.
It's been a while since I've seen that movie, but I can confirm that it's pointed out in-universe, and I'm pretty sure Doc saying "This has nothing to do with weight" is a Running Gag and not a one-off thing. That said, I'm not sure if it's quite this trope, since it's a matter of not knowing a slang meaning that didn't exist yet.

Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.Yeah, there's a misunderstanding because they're using different definitions but it's not a correction per se...
"It's just a show; I should really just relax"Hmm... do we have a trope for general language drift? I know there's Have a Gay Old Time and Get Thee to a Nunnery, but this doesn't seem to fit under either.
Since there were no objections, I swapped in the sandbox for the main description and will start wick cleanup in earnest now. Not sure what to do about the Back to the Future example, so I will leave it on the work page but not crosswick it to the trope page.
"It's just a show; I should really just relax"This isn't a valid example of You Keep Using That Word, but it seems to be meaningful and I'm wondering if there's another trope that fits:
- Breaking Bad: After hearing the term 'Kafkaesque" in rehab, Jesse assumes it means bad in general because he's Book Dumb. The few times he says it, the word makes no sense in context.
^ Sounds like either The Malaproper and/or Delusions of Eloquence.
Wicks in irregular namespaces A-C and Characters A are all cleaned.
"It's just a show; I should really just relax"Bumping. ~naturalironist, how is this coming along?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanSee Sandbox. You Keep Using That Word. Slow and steady. Character A-R and other wicks before it cleaned. I'm seeing about 50/50 correct/misused.
"It's just a show; I should really just relax"Characters and Comic book wicks done.
A common form of misuse is when a real scientific word with concrete meaning is used as technobabble in a work with a meaning that has little connection to the real life meaning. I'm wondering if this could be tropeworthy in and of itself, though a lot of these entries are rather pedantic and complainy.
"It's just a show; I should really just relax"Just Technobabble.
I'm back!Anything more happening?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanExamples need to be moved to UsefulNotes.Commonly Misused Words.
I'm back!Well, it doesn't seem like anyone is interested. Closing.

Crown Description:
You Keep Using That Word has been redefined to be about characters pointing out other characters' misuse of words. The original crowner voted to maybe move the current examples to a Useful Note. Should we?
Great idea! Way less work.
