Glee Recap

Hello,

Like I'm sure many people do, I sometimes find my place in a series that I haven't watched in a while by heading to the recaps, starting with the last episode I remember, and reading through the summaries until I arrive at the place I left off on. I'm a VERY on and off Glee watcher and so I've done this quite a bit for that particular series, and I've gotten to the point where I just can't stand it anymore. The summaries are extremely biased and all appear to be written by the same person as the style is the same. Opinions are injected into EVERY SINGLE SENTENCE and they often use ship names instead of indicating individual characters. I'm not sure this is the right place to post it, but obviously there are a lot of Glee episodes and it would be really nice if they could all be changed, if anyone would like to do that...Thanks.

Sorry but am I reading this right that you're not planning on changing the content on the pages?

Good idea to start a project on it if it is a lot of work. It's a good idea to track down the progess. However, This Is A Wiki — which you probably know already :-) You appear to be a fan of the show, an editor of this wiki and somebody who cares about the show's recap pages. I think you are the ideal candidate to start working on it. :-) Hopefully you'll run into other fans who will lend a hand.

I'd also recommend a long-term project thread for removing complaining and negativity from the wiki. If you are unsure if some entries really need to be removed, you can ask there.

Hi!! Sorry, just to clear up confusion, I would definitely do as much as I can, but I think it might be near impossible for me to do the recaps by myself, being a college student and also someone who isn't full on obsessed with Glee.

Ugh, they really are terrible when I look at them. (Link provided for convenience.) The recaps themselves border of Wall of Text and they're filled with unnecessary (and asinine) commentary. I'm not a Glee fan, though, so I have absolutely no idea how to fix them. My petty side wants to cut 90% of the recap, but...

For an example:

"The Title Card today is stamped, L.A. Law style, on the license plate of Will's Alleged Car."

Why would I care about the title card??

"...poor Rachel is stuck with JBI (and I'm sorry, but this guy takes the nerd stereotypes and ramps them up to levels that are borderline if not straight up creepy)"

Just tell me what happened in the damn show!

Parabombing and Word Cruft can be cut — or revised to trim down — on sight, I think.

Yeah, I think that's a good place to start. I'll try to go through the episodes. Looking at the other recap pages for live action TV, the recap above the tropes is usually 1-5 paragraphs, so I'm going to cut it down some. I'm exactly not sure what parts are relevant since I don't watch Glee, but I'm going to make some educated guesses.

Hello, I'm one of the people who wrote the glee recaps, and I've notice they've been severely edited. I'm curious as to why, mostly because no one seemed to have a problem with them until now. Me and my partner put a lot of effort into them, so I admit to being slightly put off as to why they've suddenly become a problem. Not trying to be rude, just curious.

Hey guys, FYI: we're trying to find a way to preserve the recaps (outside of just putting them in a word doc or something). I was thinking either a sandbox or Just for Fun page. Anyway, until we get it sorted out, please refrain from editing the pages.

I worked on them a lot a few years ago. As goldenroad said, they've 'taken over' now. I had been going over them initially to make sure they didn't get too wall of text or ... extreme rage ... but I haven't for a while because they looked alright, maybe someone has been adding in a lot of text and opinion recently? As far as I'm concerned, edit away until they're as good as you think they should be.

Thanks man. It'd slipped my mind, sorry to everyone. I had edited the first 4 recaps already, but I didn't save the original versions, so I'm not sure what to do about that.

It includes natter like, "We're smarter than RIB, that's for damn sure."
