Nightmare Fuel cleanup and maintenance

Go To

Now with a sandbox!

It appears that many Nightmare Fuel pages have problems, including:

1. Listing non-scary things that made the viewer feel slightly uncomfortable at worst.

2. Having spoiler tags on them (which is against the page's guidelines).

3. Listing Fridge Horror and fan theories.

And much more!

On a few occasions, people from outside the site's community have pointed out our overly lax usage of Nightmare Fuel to make fun of us, meaning that it can legitimately harm our reputation to let this go unchecked.

The TRS thread meant for redefining Nightmare Fuel started to become a place for cleaning up Nightmare Fuel pages in general, so we may as well move these discussions to Long Term Projects where they belong.

Here are the guidelines to determine whether something is Nightmare Fuel or not.

    Nightmare Fuel rules
  • This is a page whose name is intended to be taken more literally than most. It's not enough for material to be scary; to truly qualify, it has to be frightening enough to legitimately unnerve/disturb the viewer, with actually being nightmare-inducing as the ultimate endpoint.
    • Good signs that something IS Nightmare Fuel include if:
      • It left you feeling shaken even after the credits had rolled, you turned the last page, or are otherwise done with the work.
      • You have a hard time falling asleep if you think about it at night, or have a literal nightmare about it.
      • You dread that episode, scene, level, chapter, or song during re-watches, and consider skipping it.
    • With that said, don't add something just because it happens to be your personal phobia. For example, spiders can be scary and many people have arachnophobia, but just because a spider happens to be in the work, it does not make a Nightmare Fuel entry. It needs to reasonably be scary to someone without the phobia.
    • Don't confuse tension with fear. If the hero is in trouble, but you know he'll make it out okay at the end, it's probably not Nightmare Fuel unless the threat is especially disturbing.
  • Explain WHY the entry scared you. Try to convey your sense of fear to your readers. Avoid putting up Zero-Context Examples.
    • Remember that Weblinks Are Not Examples, and neither are quotes on their own. You should explain the horror in your own words, rather than rely on others to do so.
  • Don't add things that might have scared someone. If it didn't scare you, and you don't personally know anyone else who was scared, you shouldn't be adding it to Nightmare Fuel.
  • Nightmare Fuel should stick to you even after you're done with the work.
    • If something is initially presented as scary but turns out to be harmless, it's most likely not Nightmare Fuel since The Reveal makes the scariness vanish.
    • Jump Scares are a good source of Nightmare Fuel, but not all of them automatically qualify: being startled is not the same as being scared.
  • Hypotheticals are not Nightmare Fuel:
    • Remember that Trailers Always Lie: a scene that is presented as scary in the trailer could very well turn out to be inoffensive in the finished work. Only add examples from unreleased works if they were especially terrifying in the previews.
    • Fan theories do not belong on the Nightmare Fuel page under any circumstance. No matter how much evidence they have to support them, don't add them until they've been officially confirmed. In the meanwhile, take them to Wild Mass Guessing.
    • Fridge Horror goes on the Fridge page, not Nightmare Fuel. Don't add it unless it's Ascended Fridge Horror.
  • Keep in mind the work's intended audience when considering whether or not something is Nightmare Fuel.
    • If something is normal or expected in the genre, it does not automatically qualify. Violence in a Fighting Series or gore in a horror movie must be especially disturbing or gruesome by the work's standards to be Nightmare Fuel.
    • Remember that Kids Shouldn't Watch Horror Films. If a work is rated PG-13 or higher but would only be scary to young children, it's not Nightmare Fuel.
    • The standards on what qualifies as Nightmare Fuel are especially stringent on works aimed at children and pre-teens: kids have hyperactive imaginations, so even something benign can give them nightmares.
  • Spoiler tags do not belong on Nightmare Fuel pages. Much of what scares us comes from inherently spoilery stuff such as death and the unknown, so finding spoilers on these pages should be expected.
  • Nightmare Fuel is an Audience Reaction, so it needs to be scary for the audience. Describing how the characters react to something scary isn't needed. Just because something scares them, that doesn't mean it scares us as well.
  • Nightmare Fuel is a No Real Life Examples, Please! page. Meta-examples involving the actors, production, or behind-the-scenes incidents are not allowed.

Guidelines when proposing cleanup of a page:

  • Some rules are pretty objective. If you see a Zero-Context Example, Fridge Horror, Real Life example, speculation, In-Universe reaction that isn't scary to the viewers, examples that explicitly describe themselves as not being very scary (including "mildly creepy", "somewhat unnerving", and other synonymous phrases), or examples that are just scene summaries without going into detail about why it's so scary, you can (and should) remove them immediately without coming here to ask.
  • You should also strip all spoiler tags from the page. Itty Bitty Wiki Tools has a tool for that, but it can cause problems, so if you use it be sure to preview the page and thoroughly look it over.
  • Once you've fixed the objective issues with the page, bring it here so we can look at the more subjective problems, such as examples that may not be scary enough to qualify. If a consensus is reached that a certain entry does not qualify, it can be removed.

Okay, regarding the above RWBY examples, I've kept the following Lost Fable ones, but I do still have some questions which I've flagged below:

  • When the Dark God notices Salem, he reveals himself in a way that blends both Nightmare Fuel and Nausea Fuel. His head and limbs contort into a hideous form with unpleasant cricking sounds, and he crawls forth from the Grimm pools in a lizard-like fashion.
    • Note: I've kept this one because someone's rewritten it. It's still badly worded and requires people to go trope description hunting to fully understand why it's on the page, but I'd flag the rewrite here. Should it be kept or removed?
  • Salem originally became cursed with immortality for meddling with both the Gods. She is shown to try stabbing herself to no avail, much to Ruby's shock. She then leads an army of humans to attack the gods ... only for the Dark God to strip humanity of its magic, and fire back. This results in all of humanity dying in one horrible instant, the depiction of which is sudden and brutal (a flash of purple light engulfs the entire world and annihilates all human life in its way, accompanied by the soundtrack's frightful wails and ashes in the air after the deed is done). Just to drive the genocide's impact home, the God of Darkness cuts Salem's vow of revenge short with the harsh truth:
Dark God: You do not understand. There is no one left. You are all that remains of humanity.
  • After the departure of the Gods, Salem rationalized that since the pool of the Light God cursed her with immortality, the pool of the Dark God would release her curse. Instead, she dives into a pool of pure malevolence that relentlessly assaults her until she crawls out in her present-day form; a being of infinite life with a desire for pure destruction.

Regarding this example (flagged by Zuxtron as the following), someone added an additional illegal bullet point (which I've put in italics). I've removed the whole thing as per above because the new bullet point is reading as Fridge Horror. That said, I think it warrants flagging here because it is a point worth discussing. So, should the italicised part of the below be kept?

  • When Ozma and Salem reunite in the former's second life (and after Salem became part Grimm), they have a family, and rule over a kingdom that's seated within the current Grimmlands. After Salem refuses to pay heed to the Light God's warning to Ozma, he tries smuggling himself and their four daughters out of the castle ... only for Salem to find him. The monstrous battle that ensues ends with Ozma dead at Salem's hands, the fate of their daughters unknown, and the castle getting wrecked in the process.
    • The scene of Ozma trying to smuggle his daughters away from Salem is disturbingly reminiscent of a parent trying to protect their children from a toxic household. He realizes that she's a danger to their children and wants them to be safe, but it is still a nerve-racking ordeal to have to sneak them away before she does something drastic. Ozma is just trying to keep his children safe from their evergrowing megalomaniac of a mother. Take away the fantastical elements and this scene is troublingly similar to a domestic dispute. Unlike everything else in the episode, this could actually happen in real life.
    • The fight shows that Ozma, who was considered an invincible hero in his prime, can only score a momentary victory against Salem by incinerating her to dust before she recreates her body and kills him. Ozpin mentioned last season that he wasted most of his powers creating the Maidens and giving the transformation ability to the Branwens AND that each incarnation carries less power than the last. In other words, even without her invulnerability, Salem carries so much magical firepower that she puts the Maidens’ powers to shame, meaning that Ozpin and Oscar are no longer capable of matching her power as Ozma and his successor could.

The Admin asked me to organize the Worl of Light folder of NightmareFuel.Super Smash Bros Ultimate.

I suppose keeping the parts that need to be rewritten we get this right?

  • And then there's Galeem's appearance. Whereas Tabuu at least looked like a person, Galeem does not. In fact, it looks less like a Smash Bros. boss and more like a Shin Megami Tensei boss: a glowing white ball of energy at the center of four multicolored wings, making it look almost angelic, and all the more nightmarish for it.
    • And what this mysterious entity does with the fighters it disintegrates? It imprisons them in some kind of stasis and basically uses them as casts (complete with what looks like molten metal being poured over them) for evil clones, easily distinguished by horrifying glowing red eyes, using spirits as power. That shot of the clone Mario's face is one thing, but then there's the shot in the image above of the dozens of evil clones staring out towards the camera from the darkness... so good luck sleeping tonight!
      • Speaking of which, amongst the spirits shown are the likes of Elise, Shantae, Pigma Dengar, Blood Falcon, and various Animal Crossing villagers. This means that various characters, whether they're pacifistic, kind-hearted, cold-hearted, heroic, villainous, downright innocent, or outright evil were not only vaporized, but unlike Ultimate's playable cast, they don't even get to keep their bodies following their disintegration. In fact, their souls are also being used as fuel for the clones of the fighters, and they have no choice in the matter.

We've got yet another RWBY episode that might need to be looked at:

The Coming Storm

  • The abandoned farm that the stranded heroes found only became abandoned when the farmers all died in their sleep. Weiss is the first to discover some of the cadavers and is very haunted by what she's seen.
  • When Yang and Blake search for vehicles, Yang gets a Jump Scare vision of Adam in the snow outside.
  • At the end of the episode, after Weiss and Ruby leave the bar with canned food, something partially opens the cellar door before closing.

[down] Thanks for clearing that up. I've restored the episode which I've accidentally deleted. Sorry.

[up] Edited to add: I just realised you deleted "The Coming Storm" from the Nightmare Fuel page. I apologise; my post wasn't as clear as I thought it was.

What I meant was, could you delete/spoiler tag the post to this forum thread? There's nothing wrong with "The Coming Storm" being troped on the Nightmare Fuel page as soon as the episode is released. I just meant that this clean-up thread has been dealing with the episodes after they come out for the general public, so it might be worth spoiler-tagging (I think spoiler-tagging is better actually) your post above mine.

Sorry for the confusion.

[up] Do you mind deleting/spoiler tagging that one? That's only been released for sponsors, and the general public won't have access to that episode until next week. We haven't discussed "So That's How It Is" yet because of that reason.

Speaking of which, here it is:

So That's How It Is

  • When Emerald threatens Tyrian after he mocks Cinder's apparent death, Tyrian gets right up in her face and makes this chilling remark while cutting his face on her blades.
Tyrian: Careful, little girl. Cinder isn't here to protect you anymore.
    • Scene summary again, and relying on a quote to do the work for it. As written, it's not the trope and should be removed. However, there's definitely something to be said for watching a crazy man deliberately stroke his cheek against his opponent's blade so that it starts bleeding. It freaked Emerald out, if nothing else. That said, Emerald's reaction isn't this trope. Remove as written, but can it be added with rewrite?
  • As hinted in the opening, Salem takes the news of the failure at Haven... quite badly. When Hazel decides to shoulder the blame instead of Cinder. Salem flies into a rage, flipping the table and summoning a horde of Grimm arms that rise from the ground and drag him to his knees, covering his mouth and rendering him barely able to breathe before Emerald reveals that Cinder was largely at fault for the mess. The truly terrifying part is Salem knew all along that Hazel was not responsible for this failure, and did this just to stop him from talking long enough to make Emerald vocally turn on Cinder. After which, Salem has a chilling Breaking Speech to say to her subordinates:
Salem: It's important not to lose sight of what drives us. Love. Justice. Reverence ... but the moment you put your desires before my own ... they will be lost to you. This is not a threat. It is simply the truth. The path to your desires is only found through me.
    • Well, this has bad sentence structure to begin with. It's just scene summary as written, it's also misusing the Breaking Speech trope, as Salem's speech wasn't one — nobody broke from it, and nobody was expected to break from it. Remove.
    • Hazel then reveals that Ozpin's resurfaced and is leading the group to Atlas with the Relic of Knowledge in tow. As Tyrian and Watts talk about the implications of this news, the windows in the council room start cracking all over, and dark energy surrounds Salem as her rage boils to the surface. Seething with barely-contained fury, she harshly orders her subordinates to leave, and they exit quick-smart before Salem shatters the windows with a primal, ear-piercing scream. While Salem has had flashes of anger before, she always managed to retain her regal and serene demeanor. This moment, however, is the one time we see Salem well and truly snap, and it is a terror to behold.
      • I don't know about this one. It wasn't particularly scary for me, but my opinion doesn't matter. Can we keep this one?

Great NightmareFuel.Ralph Breaks The Internet has been reinstated along with the picture and the example from a scene that's blatantly Played for Laughs.

Do you really find THIS creepy?

I haven't seen the movie but the rest of the page also seems to be more about Fridge Horror than anything.

[up][up] I'd say all of these could be kept, though some might need a bit of rewriting.

[up] (Note that I haven't seen the movie so this is based only on the write-ups) The only examples that MIGHT qualify are the Insecurity Virus (though it has indentation issues, and the last bullet point sounds like an in-universe reaction and Fridge Horror), and perhaps Double Dan depending on how scary he actually is. I honestly think that calling the rabbit scene scary is something that might legitimately hurt the site's reputation by making us look like a bunch of easily-frightened wimps.

[up]Okay, what I've done is move the three entries to the Discussion Page, asked for them to be rewritten to meet the trope requirements and then to add them back when rewritten.

[up][up]I don't know the work, but the page image is definitely inappropriate and fails to reflect the trope at all.

  • First entry is troping a trailer and is explicit about troping a trailer scene that doesn't even make it into the film. This entry definitely needs to be removed. (Other problems: it's a scene summary about a character's reaction, which isn't the trope).
  • Written as Fridge Horror, which has its own page. Move to Fridge.
  • It's troping suspense. The trope description actually says not to do that. Remove.
  • The first illegal sub-bullet of this entry might actually be an example, if rewritten. The second and third sub-bullets are Fridge Horror, and need to be moved to Fridge.
  • Well, menacing tropes do exist. It's ZCE as written, so it's impossible to tell if there's a legitimate example possible here.
  • Fridge example. Move to that page (remove the illegal sub-bullet in the process).
  • This sounds like Fridge. If so, move to that page.

Yes, going solely by what's written there, that page only has one example, and one unknown. Everything else needs to be removed.

These entires on YMMV.Wikipedia seem like stretches and, if anything, seem more unsettling than outright scary.

  • Nightmare Fuel: The formal, scholarly tone can lead to this on some of the more creepy articles. It's like the SCP Foundation, but much worse for being real.
    • One other particular case of the formal, scholarly tone of Wikipedia unintentionally making an article creepy is in the case of the "Human" article. Seeing the general population of Earth described in vivid detail as if they were the subject of an alien's anthropological study is just... eerie.

RWBY page again.

Last week, we cleaned up "The Lost Fable" episode. I'm afraid that I'm bringing it back to the table, sort of.

This is a new example added to that episode:

  • From Salem and Ozma's point of view, the sheer disregard for a single life that the Brothers possess through them constantly killing and reviving Ozma over the span of a few seconds can be traumatizing, especially for them. It's also hypocritical for a God who talked about the cycle of life and death.
    • Fridge speculation about the point-of-view of the characters. Also, the hypocrisy of gods is irrelevant to the trope. Remove.

This next issue is a little more complicated. The parent bullet is an entry we decided to keep. But the sub-bullets are new:

  • After the departure of the Gods, Salem rationalized that since the pool of the Light God cursed her with immortality, the pool of the Dark God would release her curse. Instead, she dives into a pool of pure malevolence that relentlessly assaults her until she crawls out in her present-day form; a being of infinite life with a desire for pure destruction. This is the original entry we kept last week.
    • When Ozma and Salem become the new Gods of Remnant, they make their debut crushing a Nevermore and its insides to bits with their magic. Just imagine the sheer destructive potential they possess against any enemy if they continue to fight in this creatively horrifying fashion.
      • The death of the Nevermore was one of the entries we removed when we cleaned up this episode. It's been added back, this time as a sub-bullet to the entry we kept. It's been reworded, but it's now a Fridge Horror example. Remove.
    • Just the fact that Salem not only possesses immortality and the destructive desires of the Grimm, but the fact that she also has tremendous magical firepower on reserve for her entire life may be terrifying to many. Unlike Oz, who gave most of his powers away, here she keeps virtually all her magic to herself, becoming this nigh unstoppable opponent who is tough to even fight against, let alone kill. No wonder Oz and the members of RWBY are unsettled by this revelation!
      • The show has actually never indicated it's her possession of magic that makes her so dangerous and unstoppable. It's always been the focus on her immortality and mastery of the Creatures of Grimm. So this is actually a Fridge example — and gushing. Remove.
    • And let's not forget the moment Salem and Ozma's four daughters had to witness their parents fighting with every ounce of magic on their person in an earth-shaking duel - with the girls as collateral damage to boot!
      • The girls are never shown after Salem makes the first strike. Indeed, the actual fight is never shown directly. For all we know, the girls could have been killed in the very first blast of power from their magic striking each other and therefore never got to witness their parents fighting at all. As a result, this is pure Fridge Horror. Remove.

I found something on NightmareFuel.Sonic 3 And Knuckles

  • Ice Cap Zone has a (normally) Knuckles-only section where you must glide from wall to wall while avoiding icy spiked balls. Hacking confirms said spike balls can hurt Super Sonic as well.
Should I remove it? Since it is more informative than outright scary.

[up] This doesn't describe anything that's actually scary. Spiked balls are one of the most common and normal obstacles one can encounter in a game. So what if they can hurt Super Sonic, he can't normally encounter them so they didn't bother programming an exception for them to not hurt him, it doesn't mean anything.

I think the Nightmare Fuel page for Tomodachi Life needs to be looked at. It's never a good thing when a page starts off with a ZCE that just states "this is eerie" without anything explaining why.

I did a quick read up of the article and almost everything mentioned isn't even that scary, given that it's a game that operates heavily on Rule of Funny. Even the page image comes off more as Nightmare Retardant. I highly doubt anyone who played the game had trouble sleeping after their Mii showed them a funny face or broke up with their spouse. A lot of the examples appear to be Tear Jerkers with "unsettling" shoehorned onto them.

Several of the examples on the page, such as the Ritual dream, Mii fights, and the part about Mii's dancing after being fed their second favorite food, are also listed on the Funny Moments page, which causes the Nightmare Fuel page to read like people are adding things they personally find scary.

The only thing I've seen people agree on being scary about the game is the scene that happens when a Mii is fed their least favorite food, given the Jump Scare nature of the scene and that there is no way of knowing if a Mii dislikes a given food item before feeding them. But this scene is also listed on the Funny Moments page, as well as the example on the Nightmare Fuel page having a sentence mentioning some people find it funny.

Some examples from the page in question:

  • Some of the more WTF dreams can fall into this:
    • The "Ritual" dream is quite eerie:
"All hail the [name of food or treasure]!"note
    • The "Mirror" dream is pretty unsettling, especially the variation where the Mii is looking in a mirror when suddenly another Mii in the background of the mirror reflection slides up from the ground. The Mii looks behind them to see no one and starts shivering with fear, then look back around and the Mii has suddenly shown up in front of them waving, which scares the crap out of them. It's a scene that wouldn't at all be out of place in a slasher film.
    • The "Drive" dream comes off as unsettling somehow, and is somewhere near Nothing Is Scarier. The entire dream consists of two Miis driving down a winding, wooded road in the middle of the night while the dreaming Mii sits on the dashboard as a bobblehead. The driving Mii will randomly slam on the brakes and begin asking the passenger strange questions and saying weird things.
  • A Mii's reaction upon eating the food they hate the most: They will suddenly turn gray and look terrified as a Scare Chord plays and they melt into the ground. It's the most scary when you feed a Mii this for the first time. Subsequent times may become funny.
  • Deleting your save data makes your look-alike Mii shrink down to nothingness while remembering their times with you. Doubles as a Tear Jerker.
  • A Mii's reaction upon eating their second favorite food. While their breakdancing counts as a funny moment, their smiles are rather unsettling.
  • A lot of the funny faces that the Miis show you can easily tread into uncanny valley territory.
  • The slow heartbeat heard when a Mii is about to confess their feelings or tries to propose to their sweetheart can be quite strange. When the Mii is about to propose, the heartbeat speeds up, which could be unsettling for some.

I'm illiterate. Superman 64 has a better characters than The Last of Us Part II.

[up]In order:

  • Yes, it's true, some of the game's dream sequences are pretty bizarre. Though to review the ones listed:
    • Ritual was Played for Laughs even before the game was released. Cut.
    • Mirror seems like it could be kept; rewrite or trim if necessary.
    • Trim down.
  • If it very quickly stops being scary, I really wouldn't call it NF. Cut.
  • Appears to be fridge. Cut and keep the Tear Jerker entry, if there is one.
  • That's just how Mii faces work by default, and we've now had over a decade and three Nintendo console generations to realize that. Cut.
  • Not sure about this one.
  • This is almost certainly gushing. Cut.

Once again, another episode of RWBY.

The Coming Storm

  • The abandoned farm that the stranded heroes found last episode? It only became abandoned when the farmers all died in their sleep. Weiss and Yang are the first to discover some of the cadavers, and they're very haunted by what they've seen.
    • This is only further amplified by how off the disturbingly well preserved location is. It feels like time has effectively stopped in place in this location, and the silence that permeates the entire location can be downright ominous.
    • Worst of all, Weiss and Yang then start to get drowsy and behave more negatively than usual ... so whatever killed the farmers is coming for them now.
I do think that the corpses could qualify, but right now this is focusing entirely on Weiss and Yang's reactions. The second bullet point seems pretty weak and generic, and the last one seems like speculation.
  • When Yang and Blake search for vehicles, Yang gets a Jump Scare vision of Adam in the snow outside - complete with a Scare Chord.
Calling this a jump scare is a serious overstatement. You'd have to be insanely jumpy to have been startled by that scene.
  • At the end of the episode, after Weiss and Ruby leave the bar with canned food, something partially opens the cellar door before closing.
    • The cellar door is chained from the outside. Whatever is in there, someone wanted to make sure it stayed there.
    • Even more terrifying is how vulnerable everyone is right now. They're emotionally drained from the ordeal of the origin of Salem, spooked by the fate of the farm's workers and the farm itself, and none of them even know that this thing even exists.
This is all speculation. Maybe the next episode might qualify when we get to see what's in there.

Not what I mean. People keep removing entries from the nightmare fuel page for RWBY because "free-viewers can't see it for a week." But pages like this shouldn't be under that restriction.

Zuxtron Berserk Button: misusing Nightmare Fuel from Node 03 (On A Trope Odyssey)

Why should it not be under that restriction? I'm glad to see that rule being enforced, it means that now, I can actually have the page on my watchlist and catch problematic entries as soon as they're added instead of a week later.

It's not fair that only First subscribers can have the page on their watchlist without getting spoiled. Sure, Nightmare Fuel and other similar pages are Spoilers Off, but that should only apply to episodes that are actually available to every fan.

For what it's worth, DEATH BATTLE! also has a ban on entries from the newest episode until after it's made free for everyone. May as well keep things consistent for every show with a similar model.

Are people okay with my assessment of "The Lost Fable" episode? That still hasn't been cleaned up yet because there wasn't any response to my post. See my post above.

[up]x5: Regarding "The Coming Storm" episode.

  • This is character reaction. Remove. (For the record, I do think there may possibly be an entry in the close-up shot of the two cadavers lying in sleeping positions in their bed. That is an unusually frank shot for this show. While the current entry needs to be removed for trope misuse, I do not object to a proper entry being added should anyone have a genuine reaction to that scene.)
    • Okay, the episode is quite effective at the suspense, but as the trope description points out, suspense does not equal Nightmare Fuel. This is complimenting the mood and atmosphere of the episode, but it's not the Nightmare Fuel trope. Remove
    • While I completely believe the reference to characters getting tired is a sign of what killed the farmers, that's speculation. They've also been on the road in a blizzard for a long time after having a fight on a train that derailed with them on board, and have had a very emotionally-charged fight with the Big Good over a very big reveal about the Big Bad. They have every reason in the world to be exhausted right now. Remove.
  • In fairness, I actually did jump slightly at that scene — much to my surprise. That said, a Jump Scare does not equal Nightmare Fuel. Remove.
  • Scene description. Remove
    • Speculation about scene description. Remove.
    • Anticipation and speculation. Remove.

If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading.

Did we agree about what need to stay on the World of Light folder of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The game is coming soon and the page will probably be unlocked...

I made a response here.

In short, I suggested that three entries might possibly be salvageable with a suitable rewrite. Everything else should be removed — and those three entries should be removed if they can't be rewritten.

But... just to clarify your post here, regarding the game being released soon. Has that World of Light folder been made on the basis of a trailer? If it has, remove the entire folder. Nothing should be troped on the basis of a trailer.

[up] As far as I know, the trailer includes the entire opening cutscene for the World of Light mode, pretty much exactly as it is in the actual game, so it's not like it's a bunch of quick, out-of-context clips meant only to drum up hype like most trailers are. I'd say it's enough to go off for troping material.

The page is now unlocked. I already cut every description of the characters getting defeated in the cutscene.

[up] I'd also remove the descriptions of most of Marx's attacks. His eyes falling out is the only one that sounds like it could actually be scary to some.
