After browsing the Danganronpa Wiki, I've seen a page called Danganronpa Wiki:Staff/Retired. It's a page that describes their staff that didn't appear for a long time, and advises contacting active mods instead. Then I thought, maybe Know the Staff should also get a section called "Retired Staff"? I've found quite a few mods in This Very Wiki who dropped in activity:

  • Komodin: Five P member, and Video Games forum herald, deceased (Rest In Peace)
  • Camacan: Moderator, last edit and post in 2012
  • Ccoa: Moderator, last edit and post in 2012
  • Meeble: Five P member, last edit and post in 2013
  • Katrika: Moderator, last edit in 2014, last post in 2013
  • Bobby G: Moderator, last edit and post in 2015
  • Telcontar: Moderator, last edit and post in 2015
  • Morven: Moderator, last edit in 2014, last post in 2016
  • Blackcat: Moderator, last edit in 2015, last post in 2016
  • Ironeye: Moderator, last edit and post in 2016
  • Tangent 128: Moderator, last edit in 2016... now, I know his last post was two weeks ago, but it was a post in the Role Playing forum, so it seems that he's interested in Role Playing, but not the wiki stuff itself.
  • Fast Eddie: Administrator, last edit and post in 2016
  • Janitor: Administrator, last edit and post... UNKNOWN? The contributor history and post search didn't show a thing, but she did do posts... I've seen some posts in the Sandbox Forum from 2009, so let's say that.
  • Gus: Administrator, last edit in 2014 (Even though it says he died in 2005), last post... UNKNOWN

So, we would put a Retired Staff section at the bottom, probably with the description:

These people all have been part of the staff at one point, but they've dropped in activity or just retired from this site. It's best to send your questions or concerns to the active moderators. They may come back, but they should display at least a month of activity before being readded to the active list.

Please tell me if this is a good idea or needs improvement. Thank you for reading.

Fast Eddie became Eyebones, didn't he?

Eyebones isn't very active either, last post and edit in February 2017, often taking breaks in the month radius before that. He may be added to the list too.

I don't know...I feel like the cutoff should be later, like a year or something, unless they've confirmed they're inactive.

Well, there's lots of cutoff points we can try to use... I mean, they put a staff member as retired after only a month of inactivity. Some suggestions:

  1. Very early: 1 month
  2. Early: 2 months
  3. Medium: 3 months
  4. Late: 6 months
  5. Very late: 1 year

Any staff member who dies automatically falls to the "Retired Staff" section, without waiting.

And also, should we only count wiki activity as actual activity? What I see as wiki activity:

Because like I said, Tangent 128 is active, but isn't doing what I'd call "Wiki activity". And as for Eyebones... he did do an edit in February 2017, but his post did not count as my idea of "Wiki activity" either.

Also more proof that we want this: check out the topic from 2015 here.

Why would you use the Wiki That Shall Not Be Named as a source for anything?

Okay, I'd just like to point out that basing any editorial choice for the content of our wiki on what ED says is just loony. I don't even want to go into all the reasons why, but members of the mod staff have met all of the original owners. We won't be bullied by those hatemongers.

Anyway, we're looking at this topic and taking the thoughts expressed here into consideration, so by all means continue.

Alright, I've done some edits to my posts. I even tried to make a hypothetical new badge that'd be put next to the category, which would be kinda similar to:

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/purple_P5_badge_4961.png

Only it would be black and have a letter R instead of P. But I can't, the image's too small and I don't know how to make it black instead of purple. Let's discuss the cutoff period first, then. To pick a suggestion, please say [tup](Number of suggestion I like) or something to that effect. And if you have your own idea, great! It might be added to the list. A crowner may be a good idea, too.

I think that the actual rule should be "the matter is discussed in the staff/moderator forums, and consensus there is to retire the user". I like "not active in the current calendar year" as a recommendation, but this subject is something I'm fine with being Behind the Black, as it were. Having a "retired staff" section/badge helps to reinforce that there is a very high mod::user ratio, but given that user activity frequency isn't exactly something the staff claim to use as a metric for whether or not a user may be asked to join their ranks, I don't think "X time since last wiki activity" is going to matter for when the staff consider another member retired.

Personally I'd say that this page should be an automated report of who is in which staff role. Updating active and inactive manually is tedious.

Heralds are already automated (Or at least seem to be), so automating other staff types (Admins and Mods) might be possible... emphasis on might. I hope it's not gonna be put for the backlog of 2.0, though. Does this site get stuff like small updates by admins between large ones? Until then however, the process will have to be manual. It doesn't seem to be horrible now, but how much worse would an active/inactive system make the process? I could help with the manual process, if necessary... though I can't promise anything.

Also, the old Know the Staff page was much more insane with categorising... it had stuff like Cut Master, Cut Master+Moderator, Ventrilo Admin, Madrugada Rank, Image Pickin/Trope Repair Shop Maintenance Engineer and Moderator and Wiki Moderator were a separate category. So adding a new category probably wouldn't be too bad.
