This movie was originally announced not to tell a story but to reboot the franchise after the disastrous reception of the Snyder films.
Then it underwent massive delays, production problems, went through multiple directors, and it was constantly rewritten and reshot to lead into the next direction of DC films that was constantly in flux.
Let's be real, there was no chance this was gonna be good. It is a complete "By Committee" project, Black Adam has more artistic merit than this.
It's just most movies are bad and tend to not do well. And well when you make a lot of superhero films, then sturgeon's law starts coming into effect.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Once the executives start interfering and making second-guesses of the franchise's direction, The Chris Carter Effect comes to play.
Why would I be interested in a movie where I can tell has no sense of narrative direction? If I want to see Gunn's rebooted universe, I'll start there. I don't need some Crisis on Infinite Earth event to justify switching to a new universe.
That the DC Animated Movie Universe ended with a reboot, made me lose all interest in watching the movies I was missing.
Why see them, if I already know that everything is for nothing.
Honestly, the apocalypse movie should have been an Elserword, instead of the canon ending.

It was their mistake doing a whole animated movie continuity and unnecessary at that since previous movies worked fine as standalone
And honestly for the worse since they wound up butchering several stories like Reign of Supermen just to fit into the universes setting
Fuck Darkseid for taking over what is a Mongul and Cyborg Superman story
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Maybe it’s not too late to get a Miller-less version then.
Wasn’t The Flash first announced in 2014 for a 2016 release? The only Snyder film out at the time was Man of Steel.
Perhaps the real Ganon is the friends we made along the way.

Considering how much it got hyped. That's sad...
And considering it's reputed to have a massive budget especially because of lots of reshoots so it needs to make a lot to break even.
Which was half the reason Justice League failed to start with.
Maybe a cult can spring up that it was all executive meddling again and we need to give the director even more money to finish his 'original vision'.
Kind of happy them sticking with Miller isn't being reward from the early signs though.
