Disenchantment seems to have been pitched as more arc driven than either The Simpsons or Futurama, which is more in line with Netflix programming than Comedy Central and they try to justify the non-network avenue with more language and sexuality. The show I feel does kind of fall into Uncertain Audience because it's not quite obscene enough to capture the Rick and Morty audience but is still too cerebral to appeal to younger viewers. The visual design also radically pulls from a lot of different sources, Steamland itself kind of expects you to embrace the Steampunk imagery otherwise it almost breaks the setting.
Comics are just words and pictures. You can do anything with words and pictures.https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=M47YkrfjrXQ
Disenchantment Part 4 will premiere February 9th.

Disenchantment S4
It still doesn't hit the highs of Futarama, but I still look forward to each season. I do keep expecting things to be paced more like that show, and get surprisd when a setup plot point returns in 2-3 episodes.
Bad Bean was fun. Lots of stuff getting setup for the next season too. Nice to see Mora back.
Finally more on Bean's magic!
I do wonder how Bad Bean will feel about her mother once they're actually interacting. I can't help but think she'd rapidly grow to dislike her.
This new season has been out for a week and no one is talking about it. This show really isn't popular.
This new season was probably the most serialized one so far. I still think the show would benefit from longer seasons. Not necessarily twenty four episodes, but at least twelve episodes instead of ten. I noticed Merkimer the pig didn't appear at all this season. I also noticed that Zog didn't seem to have a problem with Bean and Mora, even though he would apparently kill men she was interested in early on. Is this meant to signify character development for Zog? Or, are they trying to tone down the comedic sociopathy? Another possibility is that the writers were afraid that if Zog had any sort of negative reaction to Mora, then viewers might see him as being homophobic, even though this would be consistent with his earlier behavior.
Anyway, the show still isn't great, but at least it feels like the story is finally starting to go somewhere, with the trogs and Bean's powers and such. However, they still haven't announced a season five yet. This could end up being the final season, which would mean it would end on a cliffhanger.
Whilst it doesn't have the greatest reputation online, I also wonder if the announcement of the Futurama also impacted it in terms of internet discussion.
But it was a decent season. It's definitely getting better for sure, even if it's not as good as Futurama.

I know short seasons are popular these days. But is it possible this show would have benefited from longer seasons? It would give the writers more time to develop the plots, while also maybe having some extra time for a few stand alone stories (which they obviously want to do). Then again, maybe they're just not good at handling ongoing plots.

Is anyone looking forward to it? Is there still any interest in this show?
Disenchantment! Now in comic form!
Over 500 pages and 17 issues' worth of original, never-before published comics, from Titan Comics!
Coming September 19, 2023!
This is the sort of dialogue that would have been funny 40-50 years ago, but now just sounds lame and corny. Which is a recurring problem with the show in general.
I'm guessing this will be mostly episodic stuff, and won't expand on the lore or character development or anything.
I don't know. I personally feel like the comedy is the weakest aspect of the show. The jokes are nowhere near as clever or snappy as The Simpsons or Futurama in their heyday. I feel like the lore and character development and world building are the best parts of the show.
Having said that, even the show's better aspects could use some improvement.
x4: Bongo Comics went out of business in 2018, with Simpsons Comics #245 being the final comic book they released before going under.

I'm guessing they didn't make it medieval Futurama for the same reason they didn't make Futurama The Simpsons In Space. They wanted to do something different. Whether they succeeded or not is debatable, but I'll give them credit for trying. Besides, I don't think they have the capacity to make something on the level of FOX era Futurama anymore. A lot of people thought the later seasons of Futurama were inconsistent, at best. And a lot of the humor in Disenchantment isn't that good either.
