Eh. At least you've read it.

I'm just picking up stuff from dropping into this thread.

I've read the first 15 issues and dropped them because Sonic was boring, but if we're getting legit character drama out of him then I might have to pick the series up again.

Well congrats, he does show regret and sadness for what it happened.

I feel vindicated.

We aren't there yet, so let's temper those expectations. But yea, I do hope this ways on Sonic heavily.

This arc really could be a Growing the Beard moment for the IDW comics.

You don't say, the first arc is basically an heroes rehash.

To be perfectly fair, Sonic couldn't have predicted anymore crazy enough to try to revive someone who conquered 99% of the planet. And in a way, having eggman be a simple goody old man was the perfect punishment

Pretty sure Eggman didn't conquer the world in this continuity

This takes place post sonic forces, where he had an iron grip on all but 1% of the world before we saved sonic.

Ah. Forgot about that.

I do find it ironic that the IDW brand could be seen as a clean slate but then they reference tons of events from the games more overtly than the games themselves.

They probably meant clean slate in reference to previous comics.

You know maybe Ian Flynn could use the Two Worlds concept to his advantage. It could mean the gang could be jumping between worlds to fight enemies and threats. It makes me wonder what if Eggman brought the virus to the human world.

Issue #17:

• Well. This is escalating quickly. I mean, this is really getting out of hand fast.
• Vector barricading that one lady with cars because she was getting Zombot'd was hard to watch. Especially when they make it clear that HE didn't want to do it himself.
• And I don't know if Charmy getting Zombot'd will be the next Spider-Man getting Thanos'd moment for me, but it was still brutal to watch as well.

Really hoping SOMEONE brainstorms a cure by the next issue or the one after.

Hopefully, someone finds a way to counter this horrible plague. Ian's depiction of Eggman really knows how to make him into a scary villain.

IDW's solicitations for August 2019 dropped today!

On the Sonic front:

• Sonic #20: “Crisis City, Part 2”! When a powerful ally succumbs to the Metal Virus, Omega and Sonic stand alone against an infected city. And even if they can save the remaining civilians from the zombots, will they be safe from Sonic?

30 bucks say Shadow gets zombot'd. Also Sonic and Omega team-up? Didn't know I wanted that 'til now!

x3 This is the second world. The other world is where all of the classic Sonic stuff and characters are and the comics are currently barred from using any of that material.

Eh. Even if the entire world becomes his enemy, he fight like he always does.

Yeah, I know, quoting that game of all games, but I thought it was a pretty cool line....though Shadow Super Saiyaning his way through an army of clones helped as well.

Unless this is a prelude to a SatAM/Underground Villain World it's safe to assume the virus will be stopped at some point if only because Sonic, the main character, is infected.

Though there is the option of focusing on Silver but the Archie comics already did a story where Silver has to fight beings similar to the Zombots and involving Ken Pender's concepts (namely Enerjak) so I doubt that option's on the table.

(x7) The "two worlds" explanation is that humans are on one planet and anthros are on another, not the Classic vs Modern split. I'm hoping that the comic quietly ignores this and in a few years they'll explain the humans as being conventionally off-screen.
