I'm seeing nothing on news when I search or trending (albeit I don't have twitter anymore, so what I can see is pretty limited). What have you heard and where?

You can only write so much in your forum signature. It's not fair that I want to write a piece of writing yet it will cut me off in the midI remember hearing that back like almost a year or so ago. The leads never went anywhere, the supposed big news drop never happened, no one's actually come forth with anything concrete (everything was like two or three degrees of he-said-she-said), and the worst you could say from all that is that Mackenyu might be a bit of a diva to work with.
Tudum, which is a live-streaming Netflix event (on June 17th) that I had never heard of before this moment, will feature (among many other things of course) new One Piece information. Potentially a trailer?

And confirmation that the Straw Hat actors will also be at the event.

(Side note, but look at Emily Rudd, just exuding Nami energy in her picture there!

The Tudum event is gonna start in about 12 hours and One Pieces appearance here has been promoted a lot by official accounts on social media over the past days. Seems very likely that they will show actual footage for the first time.
While I still cant say that I'm hyped for this, I am genuinly curious to see how the show will look.
With one piece at the peak of it's popularity, the licence must be pretty expensive. Netflix probably needs this to be successful, though I can't imagine how.
You lost!Oh don't get me wrong, I'd love this to be great. It's just that the amount of special effects they're gonna need is insane. Especially if this gets a second season and goes to the grand line.
There's plenty of behind the scenes footage of LOTR, how they made the shots with Gandalf and Bilbo in them with forced perspective and so on.
Imagine having to do this all the time, for half a dozen different characters, because height in one piece is very flexible.
You lost! There's too many things that are going right behind-the-scenes between the cast, the showrunners, Oda's involvement, the estimated budget, the set design, etc. for me to take this lightly. This has a lot of the right ingredients to make for a legitimately solid adaptation, it just needs to actually work. So I'm really praying that it does.
I imagine if anything gets adapted out it's going to be most of the really wonky height stuff. When it's needed and helps a lot I imagine they'll try, giant people is a more easily doable effect than people give credit for, but for most others it'll likely be ignored for the sake of performances. The fanbase will likely be upset at that but it's no bigger a deal than, say, Hugh Jackman playing Wolverine.

they didn't even get to introduce radical Edward!
