Episode 6: Two returning characters this week, both among my more liked of Nekoya’s patrons. This is probably my favorite episode so far. Both skits have the spotlight guest ordering a different dish from their go-to meal, plus they both involve using their other-world experience in advancing the food of their own world. I particularly like the new guy Jonathan, because it’s about time we got an actual cook taste what Nekoya has to offer.
Yeah, another great episode. I have always wanted to try a Rice Burger and that one look particularly good. From comments I read elsewhere, this episode didn't mention that the reason Alice's village abandoned her wasn't because of her magic but because she has a learning disability which made life difficult for near subsistence level farmers. I feel they did hint at it though with the way she acted.
As I said this is only going by video comments that aren't the best source. It could be that the village treated Alice having a learning disorder due to her lower mental age. Apparently the anime has a habit of making things Lighter and Softer though, such as the guy from the Scotch Egg part being with the lamians because his village gave him up as a sacrifice, not because he was on a journey to become stronger.
Episode 7: Damn, I want some okonomiyaki. The Vitriolic Best Buds were amusing.
The real star of the episode is the sky dwelling elf though. Massive nerd and he immediately tries to replicate the shaved ice he ate. I mean, what else is he gonna do.
Aletta and Kuro were very cute this episode.
I've only just started the novels but anyone feel like the second short was one where Kuro was ported into a story from before she appeared in the novels. I know both she and Aletta were in the first story but given his supposed great magical sense and his lack of reaction to Kuro being the bloody Black Dragon this seems to be another one.
Had to play catch up, so just some quick thoughts:
-Scotch eggs look... interesting. I would like to try them one day.
-Lucia sure was friendly towards Emilio. So were her granddaughters(?!). Are we sure they're not planning to eat him?
Joking of course, maybe Lamias are just friendly by nature. I want to see snek methods for becoming swole.
-Faradania is back! One of my favorite customers, still on her training trip. And now she picked up a friend. Poor Alice tho, to be abandoned like that.
-Rice burgers, huh? Another thing I never heard about.
-Pizza, truly the crowning jewel of the other world cuisine. It's actually really simple dish too.
-They argue constantly, that's how you know they get along.
-Ilzegant being highly knowledgeable, to the point he's able to analyze the doors instantly, but apparently only having theoretical knowledge of spoons was hilarious. Someone should tell him it's safe to go to the surface.
-Nice to see Romero and Jullietta doing well.
-Drawing weapons over cheesecake preferences. We've all been there.
Wrong definition of "eat". ![]()
But to stop beating around the bush, in the novels she was sizing him up as a prospect both as an apprentice Priest of Red and as a potential father for her next batch of great-grandchildren. He passed on both counts.
Speaking of the novels though last two chapters were a bit of a surprise. Spoilering because I suspect this may be how they choose to end the second season. Not only did Yomi create the doors from Nekoya to the other world deliberately, she's still alive. She just doesn't visit as often since her husband passed and her grandson took over. Gave Artorius one heck of a suprise. And got one in return seeing Aletta and especially Kuro as waitresses.
Episode 9: First half is boring on account of being as standard as an Isekai Shokudou segment can be. Regular human goes to Nekoya, tries a new dish, is amazed. About the only point of interest is that the human in question is the daughter of the baker who bought the recipe for knight's stew from the halflings. At least the door in that area is getting some use. Oh and Kuro is the best waitress. Very attentive to the needs of the customers.
Second half is much more interesting thanks to the return of Fardania who, drats, is beaten by Nekoya again. That suave chef can't keep getting away with this!
The new mermaid character is neat. Wonder if Far and Alice will be sticking around her for the time being.
@Knightof Lsama: Do you know if there are any differences between the Web Novel and Light Novel as I have been following what some people have been posting about the WN (such as Kuro never being a waitress in that version). These are from video comments sections however, so they may be of dubious accuracy.
As for the latest episode. I liked the one with Far and Alice the best, the mermaid dragon priest seemed cool. I hope she appears again.
From the Web Novels, I don't know. I've only just picked up the English language release of the Light Novels and have read up to volume 4 so far and really Scotch Eggs is probably the most changed from the novels and anime (not counting the ones that have been skipped entirely). Though all of them have lost a greater or lesser amount of expository narrations.
Episode 10: The three kids who liked to order hamburgers have become adventurers. They get into a bit of trouble with wraiths but thankfully a certain master samurai was there to save them. It was nice to see more of Tatsugoro, and especially nice to see him display his combat prowess. Teriyaki rice burgers are also super delicious. It’s that Japanese mayo, man. That stuff is great.
Another adorable princess visits Nekoya, and it’s Demon Lord herself! I wager Aletta will learn who she is in a future episode. For now, though, she’s free to enjoy teatime with the sunny Adelheid and bittersweet chocolate mocha parfaits.

Kids generally have this crazy good menu options in restaurants, it sucks they’re not available for adults.
Also knight’s sauce is bechamel.
