Regarding the character tropes page, why is so much emphasis put on the Riko being a zombie meme? I suggest removing those references or moving them to YMMV. Here is the rationale:
All things considered, she isn't rotting, she has the capability to grow, all her vital functions seem to work, can regenerate damage normally and is capable of free thought. Her compulsion to go to the Abyss doesn't seem unusual in the setting of the show, specially considering both her parents were delvers, and even so, it doesn't seem like an artificial compulsion, as she's seen in a number of occasions talking about glory and fame and whatnot. Besides, had it been a supernatural compulsion, she'd have risked going in unprepared. After all she's been living in Orth for most if not all of her life, with the Abyss being literally there all the time, so how come she waited for an excuse and an useful tool (Reg) to do so?
The only "defect" her resurrection produced was her eyes, and that seems like a very minor thing. Or mere Author Appeal to make her a meganekko (not that I'm complaining).
Not to mention the person telling her this, Ozen, was totally taking the piss in a premeditated act (after all she had ordered her raiders to stay put before provoking a fight with Reg), and if looking at the thing, the other "sample" is a piece of dinner meat, meaning it's not a "fresh kill" and very incomplete, if not already cooked, thus useless to resurrect.
My point is, how come her resurrection is treated like "lol zombie" when it's pretty much a phoenix down in a box? By that logic every RPG character is a zombie. So how come this one is treated differently, specially since the character giving the info is an Unreliable Narrator at best? Even if her lifespan is compromised, it does seem like a legit resurrection.
In short, none of the zombie or revenant tropes seem to apply in her case, making this more of a meme than an actual case of zombie. It does seem like a legit case of Back from the Dead as opposed to undeath. Memes shouldn't be made part of character pages, so unless someone has a solid reason to object, I'll take those out.
Agreed. It was a big blow to Riko's self-identity, but she bounced right back (as she always does). Nowadays it seems barely relevant, aside from her drive to find the center of the Abyss (which is a Delver trait anyway).
Besides, if she's anything like her mother, she thinks it's awesome.
It's been fun.Of course they had to have Bondrewd announce it of all people.
Flippé de participer à ce grand souper, je veux juste m'occuper de taper mon propre tempo.Bondrewd also appears to be directly addressing us, which is something I've just now discovered I find very disturbing.
It's been fun.I guess that's timely because I started watching this today. My original plan was to watch the first season and then just get caught up with the manga, but maybe I'll just wait for this instead. We'll see I guess.
Anyways, the first episode to this was actually really good, to be honest it's probably the best I've seen in a very long time. I really like how the episode just starts with abandon. They don't really waste any time with prolonged exposition, and yet you still gain a very good understanding of the basic premise just from the incidental dialogue. On top of that, the art direction is absolutely phenomenal and the music is above average.
I'm pumped to get caught up with this series.
Glad to have you with us.

Sounds like Made in Abyss to me!
It's been fun.…Well, now I get where the narehate designs come from. >.>

Watch SymphogearFinished the anime.
Enjoyed it a lot overall, especially the finale (Nanachi and Mittey's backstory is heartbreaking).
About the only thing I don't really like is the gross fascination with Riko peeing herself and gags about Reg's dick, given that they're children.
I think I'm probably going to cave and read the manga since I'm impatient.
A little goodie cuteness. Unusual for a figurine, but adorable.
Flippé de participer à ce grand souper, je veux juste m'occuper de taper mon propre tempo.…Fuck, just seeing excerpts of that scene makes me tear up all over again. This episode is just dangerous. I also didn't realize that color contrast between the refuge and the rest of the 4th layer… That all adds extra meaning…

Flippé de participer à ce grand souper, je veux juste m'occuper de taper mon propre tempo.Made in Abyss just won Anime of the year at the Crunchyroll anime awards.
Watch SymphogearI've been watching Made in Abyss since last week. I really like the show . I just finished watching episode 11 several minutes ago. It was a really good episode. After the very intense episode 10, it was nice to get a slightly relaxing episode. I'm glad Riko survived and I really like Nanachi. I only have two episodes left. I don't want it to end but I know I have to finish this anime.
Yeah, the last two episodes are also pretty chill.
A season 2 has already been announced by the way.
Flippé de participer à ce grand souper, je veux juste m'occuper de taper mon propre tempo.I already know a second season been announced. Have they said when it was going to show?
2019 is a very likely scenario.
Watch SymphogearThere are also two movies coming soonish that are likely going to be retreads of the first season. May have new animation, may not.
It's been fun.Cross posting with the manga thread:
Just saw this shared in a discord channel I'm on: An English dub trailer for Made in Abyss
Was anyone else able to see the compilation movies Journey's Dawn and Wandering Twilight?
I haven't seen or read Made in Abyss before so Wandering Twilight was my first experience, go figure.
And yeah, wow. Was in tears.
Yeah, my suggestion would be anime, then manga. The anime does lose some impact in some moments (particularly fights - not that it's not impactful, just that the manga is more so), but the soundtrack and voice acting more than make up for it.
It's been fun.
