Tropers: The Series

"Same here... Hm, I guess we could go check out the library?"

"Yeah, sure! Wonder if they got anything good?"

Tropes has ended up sitting idly in the engine room, staring into space looking concerned.

"...Hmmm. Is...Avie upset about something?" He asks to whoever is around the room.

Meanwhile, Puma is playing along with the band for the guests, singing a cheerful little tune.

"AS FAR AS THE EYE CAN SEE, THE GUTS AND THE GRIND WRAPPED IN APATHY, IT'S A MIRACLE... THAT WE MADE IT HERE..."

"How did we get here, anyway?"

Now, I’m not supposed to say this, but, the club is, essentially, for making money. And it’s a really simple way to do it.

Bob clearly doesn't buy it, but keeps going.

"I see..."

So, here’s the facts. You pay me $500 dollars to get into the club, and then you go and find some saps, and tell them to join the club. Really, they’re not joining the club, we’re just mooching off of them. You ask them for their cash, which they’ll make by mooching off some other saps. Ask for half the wages they make off the Club, and you’ll be rich!

Now, of course, to get in on this club, you’ll need to give me half your wages you make off the Club, but you’ll still have plenty, and those saps won’t be any the wiser!

"Hmmm... Well." I look out onto the open ocean, holding on to my hat as it flutters in the wind.

"I could tell you that of course you're good enough, and that he's lucky to have someone like you. And I'm sure I'd be right - but when you're plagued by these insecurities, it's a little hard to believe that, isn't it?

"But let me tell you this. You two have been together for a while now - you've been through so much together, through the thick and the thin, as it were. If he was going to find someone better than you, he'd have found her by now. But he's chosen to stay. He chose you, Avie.

"I know it certainly didn't feel good, what happened in the 70s, but I'm sure he just wasn't thinking much of it. Boys do that sometimes, they say silly things and then they don't realize what they did wrong. I can't really speak for him, but if he had meant anything by it, he would know what the problem was. Truth is, he loves you, Avie. No other girl is gonna change that. Certainly not some random security guard from the 70's."

I try to give her a reassuring smile.

"I just put some plague-ridden fleas on 3rd class! Wonder when the bodies'll start piling up."

"I'll pass."

"Jesus Christ, Adric..."

"They're having sex."

"Who? The fleas?"

"No! The humans! Probably. I typed a letter to a censorship office, should be here."

"I don't see any humans getting it on."

Arimo starts to scratch all over. “Ack! Fleas! Can’t a luxury ship be a little more kind to the broke people?”

Baryl grabs Arimo and shakes the fleas off of her. ”Don’t be such a downer! We’re on a boat! There’s surely some fun stuff to do!”

"While you all die from the plague, I'm gonna go see if I can find something else to do."

"Thankfully, I got some..."
(Chey pulls out from her bag a giant spray bottle of...)
"HOMEMADE, NON-TOXIC FLEA SPRAY!"
(Chey then runs around the ship spraying the flea spray.)

"Thank you so much After.. I felt like I really needed to hear that!"

Avie hugs her tightly, before letting go

"Perhaps we'll meet up with him later. I hear there's a dinner party later in the evening.."

"I'll go take a hors'devors, or however you say/spell it."

Junon accidentally inhales the fumes and coughs. Uncle exits the lavatory, so he accidentally inhales the fumes as well.

"Aiya! Who's trying to kill the insects here?"

"Ooh. Make one of those Hors D'oeuvres Sandwiches~"

I'm slightly taken aback by the sudden hug, but quickly return it, hugging her tightly.

"Ooh, what if we arrange to sneak in? I'm sure we can get word to the other tropers somehow."

(Chey then returns.)
"Well, that's all the plague fleas dead!"

"Not if I can help it!"

"Wait a minute, this is the 1920’s, not the late 1300’s.The bubonic plague has died down, probably as uncatchable like the Mumps.Unless we got some unwelcome guests from the Renaissance, the closest period to the Middle Ages."
